Irene waited patiently as raindrops fell from the night sky in small droplets, rolling off her porcelain, smooth skin. The vampire had worn a full black sleeveless top and a belted black cargo pants that lent her a look of toughness. Her eyes, a deep shade of brown, were focused, scanning the surroundings methodically, like an extremely alert nocturnal hunter. Before long, the night rain began to fall in sheets accompanied by streaks of lightning and cracklings of thunder. Despite the thick cover the forest canopy afforded, Irene was nonetheless drenched but that did not bother her. The only thought that bothered her was how much messier it would be to subdue the young vampire in this cold, dark weather.

The leader’s eyes narrowed as the scent of the young vampire carried by the cool night breeze became stronger by the second. She was not surprised at how easily the young imbecile had fallen for her human bait but was mildly surprised by how quick this vampire was. Irene closed her eyes and concentrated on enhancing her senses. The young one’s close.

Red, the mature vampire’s irises had turned ruby red when she had them opened again. Irene’s fangs were out almost immediately and her skin had acquired a ghastly pale shade to it. The old vampire was used to the shifts in her form, so much so that it happened instantaneously and did not hurt her a single bit.

Her ruby red eyes were now focused in a faraway distance where she knew the young vampire would emerge from. The imminence of having to destroy another of her own kind made her frown. Yet, the vampire knew she had to do it for the young and vile vampire was putting their community and her coven at risk of being discovered by mortals and immortals alike. She would hate to imagine how much agony she would face if anything happened to her coven. Irene was certain she would not be able to endure the pain of it. Such thoughts were good for her, it made her focus, it hardened her. This young vampire was their specie but it was a threat to her and so it must be destroyed.

Irene finally saw the young vampire in action and was greatly shocked by her swiftness. This creature… is not normal. The mature vampire had seen and destroyed too many young ones to be unfazed by the extraordinary abilities that some of them possess but this was the first vampire that made her feel uncertain. Despite her uneasiness, Irene decided to go ahead with her plans.

Even the harsh weather could not slow Seulgi down when she was in a state of hunger, her prey was so close. Then she saw her would-be victims. It should have occurred to Seulgi that it would be odd for another group of campers to trek in the very same forest that Seulgi plagued just a week ago. It was even odder that they were asleep so soundly when the rain was falling so heavily, drumming so heavily on their tent canopy. Hunger, however, has overtaken her own mind. Seulgi broke out into a wide grin that revealed h
