Inhae think that her last year of high school was the worst of all year. She still had the same class as Jongin. Her crush on him didn’t even wavered and she was sitting so close to him for her liking – blame her luck for coming late to class when the seat was arranged, so she was stuck with the remaining seats.

Seolhyun, being an angel she was – or maybe a devil in this case, offered her seat that was behind Jongin and just left to sit behind Inhae with her other friends – Inhae wanted to cry when the girl do that, but at least she was with Seohyun, a very beautiful but shy girl. Inhae had insisted her taking the seat behind Jongin, proclaimed that she couldn’t see well if she sits there and the girl agreed.

Inhae was stuck with Jongin sitting in the front row and the queenkas was behind her and worst, she had Chanyeol who was also a part of Jongin’s clique sitting beside her.

Chanyeol was basically annoying. He kept pestering her and Inahe just really had a thin layer of patience. She could feel herself changing, from the shy little turtle to a y cat, moody and needy, always hissing and snarled at everyone that tried to come to her comfort zone – which is Chanyeol.

So, whenever Chanyeol annoyed her, she would spat back in sarcastic tones in which she shouldn’t have because he just couldn’t stop pestering her afterwards, wanting more response of his annoying attack.

The tall boy had a crush on Seohyun. He admitted it, but Seohyun didn’t buy it and just shrugged it off. Chanyeol tried to flirt with her, but she just ignored him and he turned to Inhae to let out his annoyance.

Jongin wasn’t any better. He would just randomly walked from his seat and then stood in front of her table, just stared at nothing and sometimes strike conversations with Chanyeol and leaving Inhae to stare at his crotch – which doesn’t really help her in anyway.

But unlike with Chanyeol, she didn’t say anything to Jongin and just let him do anything that he wanted, afraid that she might say something stupid and just embarrassed herself.

It was like that for a few weeks until Seulgi finally came back to school. Poor girl, she had been in the hospital for a while because of a high fever and just came in a bit late.

She had texted Inhae of course, asking if they were in the same class and yes, they were – Inhae had checked of course.

The girl obviously didn’t like sitting so far from Inhae and sitting with someone that she barely knew so she begged Inhae to switch up places.

Inhae, had gladly took the chance because finally – she was going to get away from Jongin and Chanyeol. She had talked to Seohyun and the girl was okay with it.

Inhae had changed seat the next day, sitting at the back of the class with Seulgi.

She liked sitting at the back, because she could see everyone from the back – like how she saw Jongin walking into the class early in the morning and have a frown on his face. He looked confused, but didn’t say anything.

She just watched as he took a seat. He had his eyes on her previous seat that was now occupied with Sooyoung. She wondered – had he noticed that she had changed seat? Did he actually notice her?

Jongin said something to Sooyoung – Inhae had wondered what he was asking aboutbut then the girl suddenly pointed at her direction at the back and she panicked when Jongin looked at her.

Wait – is he searching for her?

Chanyeol doesn’t seemed to like the idea of her switching seats and demanded that she changed it back to which she just hissed and told him to off. She received an amused looks from the boys and the girls just chuckled.

“Poor Baekhyun, what’s he going to do without you? He needs you.”

Seulgi had looked at her of course, wondering what Chanyeol was talking about.

It was just a joke that Chanyeol had been teasing her about – that Byun Baekhyun had a crush on her but was too shy to confess.

Inhae had denied it of course, because – who would even like her?

Her eyes suddenly flickered to Jongin, who just had his head down the entire class. She just hoped he wasn’t thinking that she hated him or anything because she moved away from him.

She didn’t know why she had thought about that. She should have forgotten about him.

Right.

Chapter 21: All along the chapters, it seemed like Jongin likes her?? But maybe he thought she didn't like him or something? It's really mysterious because his friends seemed to know, or it could be that Sehun also likes her? Damn hahahaha. But unrequited love is really hurt, but she seemed happy and more lively now. Hopefully she'll find someone.

Chapter 21: This is the first character that ever feel so close to me. I am exactly in the same situations like her. So the lesson I learned here, is not being too hard on yourself. I need to accept that he will always be in my heart but not in my life. Thank you for the great story.

Chapter 21: PS: I had no idea Jongin would be a perfect character for a high school crush slash heartbreak. But you have written him so nicely that I felt I had a crush on him too xD

I love this fic, author, thank you so much!

Chapter 21: That being said, I miss them so much... They were so cute despite him being a jerk. Isn't that what we all wish though? That somehow the "bad boy" would soften at the girl? Okay maybe not everyone's wish, but I am a er for that!

All in all I really loved this fic. I'll probably read it again when I want to have butterflies in my stomach. It was bittersweet and although the storyline was simple, all emotions were raw and real. It goes to show that even though High School seems like a moment we'll forget because most of us have been young and did crazy stuff, an age where we don't really know anything, I also think it has shaped Inhae beautifully. She turned from bumbling shy girl to an amazing woman.

Also this fic reminds me of a Thai movie called, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" Both are sooooo beautiful and all the characters are just amazing in their own ways.

I'm honestly going to miss Jongin and Inhae so much >.< Here is to High School crushes that broke our hearts!

Chapter 21: As for Jongin, well, WOW. I do have a lot to say. If I'm gonna be honest, I don't think he ever liked her at all. Sometimes love makes us look through life in pink tinted shades that we don't get to see the true colors of it anymore, unless we actually look hard enough. Perhaps his actions, their small interactions, and even his behavior was interprered differently by Inhae. I mean, she liked him, and its totally naturally to make 100 out of a 0 when it comes to the people we like. Its natural. She wont be able to help it.

Seeing as we only saw this from Inhae's POV tho, my interpretation of it was that those moments didn't mean MUCH to Jongin. Not to say that he didn't care about her, because I'm sure he did, perhaps just not as the same level as her. Like he looked for her, he acted weird around her, and sometimes his words, paired with his behavior, just seems way too intentional to be called a coincidence. I think he may have liked her, probably found her cute or still had the flurries of a childhood crush, but nothing too serious. Like, he has a girlfriend. It could be that he really liked his gf or he dated her to up his image and to feel like he got the prettiest girl. You know, typical teenage boy in high school

Chapter 21: I'm just...I'm sad? But I'm also...happy because Inhae is happy now. Like if we look back in her youth that was mostly Jongin days, she lost the energy to study hard and looked down on herself a lot. She had a lot of fears, hesitation, compared herself often to other girls, and she wasn't confident.

I really REALLY wanted them to be together, that much has not changed a bit, but the ending seems like it would be the best for Inhae. In a way I'm glad that she never knew his answer and assumed things herself, because Seulgi is right, she's a totally different person now. Inhae is happy, she's confident, and she is shining like a star. I am so proud of her and how far she's come. It wasn't easy for her but she pushed through and I'm so glad she's in a much better place now

I hope Jongin remains a beautiful memory to her, even if she lost him
