Jieun couldn’t even tell what she’s feeling. She couldn’t bring herself to take a step inside the school’s premises. She’s been staring at the gate since she got there. It’s the first day back from winter break and she’s sure that the hallways are packed with loitering students who are excited to talk about what they did during the break.

“Are you waiting for me?”

She turned immediately to her right. Sehun was smiling at her. She blinked and he did the same.

“Why did you not wait for me?” he asked as if he was sulking.

“I had to do something a while ago so I left earlier,” she replied. He stared at her for some seconds as if he was reading her expression if what she was the truth.

“Okay, so,” he dragged the last word before grabbing Jieun’s hand. “Shall we go?”

“PDA’s not allowed in school, you know.” She looked at their hands and he stared as well.

“Ah,” he muttered, letting go of her hand. “I see.”

She wanted to laugh at his reaction. He looked disappointed like a kid who just found out that Santa does not exist.

“Let’s go. We’ll be late,” Jieun said and they started walking inside. The school’s full of life once again. Students were running here and there. The chattering filled the hallways.

“Sunbaenim,” a girl called out and Jieun stopped on her tracks. She looked at the girl who was giving Sehun a gift. The latter stared at it before reaching for it with a quizzical expression.

“What’s this for?” he asked. He sounded like he does not have any idea at all.

“It’s a gift. You see,” the girl paused as she shyly fixed her hair. “Sunbaenim, I like you.”

Jieun’s eyes were fixed on Sehun. His expression slowly changed as he carefully and politely returned the gift to the girl. “I’m sorry but I already have a girlfriend.”

Hearing that, Jieun could only smile to herself.

“You have a girlfriend? Who?” Baekhyun’s voice suddenly echoed. It was loud enough to capture everyone’s attention. Jieun wanted to smack Baekhyun’s head and then disappear into thin air. Sehun turned to Baekhyun.

“Jieun,” Sehun replied, pointing at Jieun who looked like she was frozen.

She watched as Baekhyun’s jaws fell open in surprise. “Heol! Daebak! Really?” He looked at Jieun. “Like for real?” he asked, eyes widening by the second.

“Took you long enough,” Chanyeol commented as he took a step towards them. He gave Jieun a knowing smile. “Congrats.”

Baekhyun looked at Chanyeol. “You know?” He then ran towards Jieun. “Tell me everything that happened from the start.”

“People are looking,” she hissed and Baekhyun looked around. He then held Jieun’s hands tightly, leading her away from the crowd.
