Track 12| Stargaze

Jung Eunji

The night’s breeze was soothing; at least that’s what Eunji thought.

It was a little over 1 in the morning, that’s why she felt sleepy. Eunji was not one of the nights, although it marvels her every other time. She was meant to be with the sun anyway.  That was her domain as the daughter of Apollo. Taking a short glance at the other girl beside her, she couldn’t help but release a smile. The two was sitting in the roof of the mansion, just looking up at the clear night sky, stargazing and talking about the gods. It boggled Eunji’s mind how much of a non-believer Son Naeun could be and yet the latter asked so many questions that marveled her as well. She couldn’t blame the beautiful woman though. Eunji could sense the tough life Son Naeun had, and understand why it all seemed like a fairy tale out of text book during History Class.

“So… Is Cupid gonna possess your body once in a while?” Son Naeun asked a clear curiosity on her face that made the young girl chuckle.

“He couldn’t do that next time, I won’t let him. Why? Are you falling in love with him already?” She even joked, although her jokes weren’t as bad as the god of love himself.

“N-no! It’s just… it’s weird talking to you, knowing that you are not the person I was with all this time.”

“Don’t worry, I understand. Everything was weird the first time I found out about the gods anyway. My mom died trying to conceive me when I was born. Zephyr, the god of the west wind, took me and carried me all the way here in dad’s manor, hoping that he’ll take good care of me. He did.” The teenager explained. “My father?The gods never try to meddle with the humans. To be honest, I’ve only met my dad once. They weren’t allowed to show favoritism among their children anyway. That’s why… I’m just in here, trying to survive every single day without getting killed, without even any news from my father.”

“That’s… cruel.” Naeun muttered, hearing the story of the younger girl. It was deemed impossible for her. It was like a telltale from another dimension. Above all, she can see the sadness in Eunji’s tone. Naeun’s father died when she was still young, due to a terrible sickness, but even then she knows how much her father loves her. That’s why ever since she was young; she was able to find
