The Wife SystemJinyoung's POV
I hugged my side and coughed up a little blood. They really beat me. I could still feel Jiyoon's fingers slipping through mine. They took her from me and I had no power to stop it. Just like when I was young. I fisted my hand and slammed it against the door.
"Son."
My eyes darkened. "Did you call them?"
"Son, listen to me."
I my father. "DID YOU CALL THEM?!" My wife was gone and it wasn't my doing. Someone close to me had brought the System.
"I didn't." He shook his head. "But you need to calm down. Let's talk."
"You know who did call them." It wasn't a question and he didn't deny it. For the first time in my life I fisted my father's shirt. "Tell me. So I can-"
"What?" He interrupted. "We're on your side Jinyoung. There's something so much bigger happening here that you aren't aware of. Your brother-"
"My brother?!" I growled, this time cutting him off. "What does Daehyun have to do with all of this?"
"Jinyoung." My mother's voice softened me. I loosened my hold on Ilhoon and met her eyes.
"Please don't tell me I need to be angry at you as well. What have you been hiding from me all these years?"
"Understand, we wanted to keep you out of it. You hated the System but you never faught against it, not really. Never had I heard about you unsurping it. You went with the motions of our society."
"And you haven't?"
"On the surface we have." My father sighed. "Let's go inside. Until you hear everything, you're no help to your wife."
I hesitated. "Son, please." My mother reached out her hand.
"Answer one question first. Why does my wife getting sent back have to do with what's going on?"
"I can answer that." We all turned to the new voice. My mouth dropped with my heart. It wasn't who I had expected.
"Hyung." It felt like I had been stabbed. "Why?"
Shin Woo stood there with his wife next to him. They weren't wearing the expression I was accustomed to. They were serious and solemn. All the fight drained out of me.
"You had my wife sent back? I thought..." I thought we were brothers.
"Like your parents said, there's something so much bigger happening here."
My body hit the edge of the threshold. We were all still half inside half outside.
"Then explain." I snarled. "Make it to where I don't have to hate you."
"I'm afraid you'll hate me anyways."
No POV
They walked inside. Jinyoung was like a ghost, struggling to comprehend the situation. His wife was gone because Shin Woo had called them. All because of a stupid plan that he didn't care about.
Shin Woo broke the silence. "Mr. Jung, I think you should explain the first half. Of when Jiyoon stayed within your household."
Ilhoon nodded. "Jinyoung, I'm sure you remember a young boy that stayed with us. He was the son of the maids, or I should say daughter. Kwon Jiyong and Kwon Dara. Now that I think of it, it must have been a cruel prank of the System. Bang Yongguk and Hira were our main household servants who gave birth to Dara. She immediately went to the Institute of course. Kwon Jiyong entered our household when he was 16, since he couldn't stay with his parents.
"After Dara turned 21 she married Jiyong. It didn't take us long to realize she was the Bang's daughter. When Dara realized she was going to have a daughter she refused to give her up. There was a doctor we were close with that agreed to fake the documents on Jiyoon's gender. Ten years went by without anyone expecting, or so we thought."
Sara continued, "The day they came still haunts me." She closed her eyes. "The Kwons nor the doctor escaped the repercussions unscathed. And now I see that they gave Jiyoon to you to torment us all. She wouldn't have her memories and all we would see when we looked at her was her parents that had lost their lives."
"What they didn't know though is that we had been working on a cure. Daehyun being inside the Institut
