“Okay, that’s a start.”

Content with his response, Haru comfortably leaned back into her seat. Finally, a day where he wasn’t scolding her has come.

“So, you want to go into law?”

“Law?” She scoffed. “Heck no – “ Due to her choice of words, Mr. Jung sent her a look and she quickly pressed her lips together. “…That wasn’t what I was thinking.” She offered a more tamed and polite response.

“Then, how exactly are you going to ‘rid the world of scums’?”

“I didn’t think that far.” She thought bare minimum was fine for now but Mr. Jung always liked to over-reach.

“Okay, what made you choose this path?” He tried to delve for more information.

If she were to tell the truth, he wouldn’t like her answer. Something told her an answer like, ‘because they infuriate me’ wouldn’t go over well with the guidance counselor. “…I want to help people.” She stated dully while her eyes darted around the room, hoping he would just accept the damn answer.

“Okay, another assignment.” He stated suddenly. “I want you to make a list of jobs you’ll be interested in.”

“Jobs?” There’s more she has to do? Nothing seemed to be good enough for this man.

“Yes, jobs that allow you to help people.”

Nodding her head slowly, Haru looked at him. She wasn’t very ecstatic about it but if he prefers that then she’ll just have to go along with it. “Sure…can I go to lunch now?”

“Yes, go ahead.”

Happily, Haru jumped out of her seat and left the office.

***

Haru didn’t know what to think as she looked out from inside the car. At the current moment, Yongguk was helping a grandma cross the busy intersection.

He smiled brightly upon reaching the other side and Haru was letting out another yawn. These meet ups with the officer was anything but exciting…and quite unbelievable. She has never seen such a person. There was absolutely no corrupted bone in his body.

She allows her eyes to wander before having them focus on one of the restaurants. The busy bodies standing and conversing at the entrance were interesting to say the least. Leaning forward, Haru searched for the street and upon finding the name – ‘Sugo’ – she knew what this was.

The sound of the driver’s door opening draws her attention back.

She turned to look at him and the large grin upon his face. An expression caused by some reason she didn’t quite understand.

“Have you ever patrolled this street?”

Yongguk, taken aback by a rare question from Haru, stuttered a response. “Uh – well –“ He looked for the street name. “Sugo? I’m usually not assigned this street.” More like never.

And Haru can see why.

This was no place for a sheep.

“What are we going to do now?” She asked while holding back a sigh.

“Ticket duty.”

Haru doesn’t bother saying anything – she knew exactly how the day was going to pan out. When things start becoming predictable, you can imagine how monotonous it starts to begin.

And Haru had to remind herself –

Just stay quiet and it’ll all go smoothly.

Driving down another street Yongguk was assigned to watch over, her gaze fell on the cars parked on both sides. The officer pulls into an empty spot and parks his own.

“Haru, do you want to come with me this time as well?” Yongguk kindly asked.

She shook her head. “I don’t want to hold you back from doing your job.” She stated blankly and accepting it, Yongguk nodded and got out of the car.

If she has to deal with these people again, she may just explode. So for everyone’s safety, it was best to stay away.

With nothing to do, Haru watched Yongguk carry out his task. With a notepad and pen in his hand she knew he wouldn’t be using at all, he looked into the windshield of each car. And coincidentally, every time he would lift his pen, someone would run out and provide an irresponsible excuse.

Har

Taking two days to finish reading and it’s worthy! Can’t help from liking Haru and Yongguk, annoyed with Youngjae so damn much and imagining how the story looks like. Gang stories always being my liking and gosh, this is such a good gang story :)

Chapter 46: The moment I found the story I knew I would need to read it in one go, and surprise, I really did. All I have to say is that I loved every aspect of it, the characters, their development, the plot, the plot twists. I don't think I can name anything that I didn't like. Maybe the only thing that won't ever let me live peacefully is not knowing what happens with Jongup with the hospital (I have a suspicion it would have something to do with Insoo), but I'll take it as a challenge to imagine his fate.
Overall, I just want to express my biggest respect for you. You make the world a nicer place to live with your stories.

Chapter 46: This is so beautiful. (╥﹏╥) I haven't read anything like this before. Something that doesn't have a "romantic ship" and something that really connects with the real world. A slice of life and somewhat a story that can be portrayed as a life lesson. I usually search for stories like this, stories that you don't need to to cringe because the plot is so great but the "ships" mainly involved romantic relationships. It warms my heart that she overcame all of the obstacles in her life and she made the decision to face herself and her past. I hope that i can be just like her. I want to be someone who can be sure of her decisions. I want to be just like her, that despite everything that happened to her she still hasn't give up and still made the decision that she felt happy. I wish that i was as strong as her and have those people who supported her all the way. I wish i would be able to face myself too. (i wish it was sooner rather than later and i hope that i can do what i really love and what i really want. (。•́︿•̀。) )

Fightinggg!!! More ideas to come!! ~

P. S. This literally tug at my heartstrings. I also felt overwhelmed by the emotions when i was reading this. Hoping for more~

Chapter 46: I'm finally able to comment (srry that J'm so late) ^^
I have to say, the last chapter was what motivated me the most to upvote this story (actually even more the plot-twist of Youngjae arresting her) and I loved the ending. It made me feel so light and I love how Haru kept her character all the way but still matured in some way- so thanks for the amazing story. I enjoyed reading it a lot!
