Chapter 9: Her Charm and His Gain
Introducing Lady Cutthroat
There was no mistake.
Though she wasn’t in her school uniform or gym clothes, it would be a tremendous mistake to not recognize her. From a block away, he stares at the young girl ever-so-casually leaning against the building while glancing over her shoulder.
With no time to waste, Yongguk rushes forward. “Haru!” He hisses once getting closer.
It was enough to gather her attention and she looked in his direction, clearly not seeing why she was drawing such of a reaction from the officer. But, did drop open at the sight –
“Yongguk, are you kidding?” Reaching out, she tugged him forward so that they were both covered by the building. “Why in the world would you be in your uniform?”
He looks down at himself. “I can’t make arrests without it.”
Well, that’s stupid. Criminals could see the blue from a mile away.
“I guess we can’t help it.” Haru ends up saying before returning to her spying. “You’re late.”
“I didn’t expect to be meeting you here.”
Haru snorted. “Did you think I was joking yesterday?”
Yongguk was at a loss of what to say. In a way, he was hoping she was.
“Since you’re in your uniform, this is what I was thinking – I flush them out and you arrest them.” She turned and smiled at him. “Agreed?”
“Shouldn’t there be more thoughts put into this?”
“Let’s not make it more complicated than it really is.” Haru comments before returning her attention back on searching for her targets. “I haven’t seen them yet…” Chances are the site has changed or the date has changed after yesterday’s interference.
Oh, wait.
“Yongguk, look.”
The officer focuses in the direction Haru is pointing in. “…Haru, there are more men than I originally thought. We need to call for backup – “
“Sure, whatever you want, Yongguk.” Haru dismissively says before hurrying forward to shorten the distance between her and the small group of men.
“Haru!” Yongguk calls from behind.
“It has to be them.” Flicking her hand, she urges Yongguk to follow her.
Without any other choice, Yongguk does so. If Haru isn’t going to listen to him then he will just have to make sure he keeps her safe and out of harm’s way.
“You want to know how predictable criminals are?” She asked with a confident smirk upon her face.
Curious to the answer, Yongguk gives in and trails after Haru as she brings the two closer. Making their way down the street, Haru turns a sharp corner and something stands out to her. Eyeing the rundown building in the distance, she begins running. Once arriving outside the warehouse and without bothering to check herself, Haru motions Yongguk to discreetly look through the broken window.
Giving her a bewildered look, he does just that. Leaning to the right ever so slightly, he finally realized what Haru meant.
Just as she expected, the small group was there and most importantly, with boxes of ‘delivery’.
“We need to catch them now while evidence is present.” Haru whispers in Yongguk’s direction. “If we catch them, we’ll manage to hurt Nabi too.”
“And how do we do that?”
Looking into the window, Haru looks for the entrances and exits. “We’re going to lock them inside. So, you get this side and I’ll get the other.” Offering a quick smile, she starts making her way to the opposite side of the warehouse to close that opening.
“Haru!”
Halting in her movements, she gives Yongguk her attention. “What is it?” Her patience wearing thin. Why was Yongguk so worried –
“Be safe.”
Taken aback by his words, she simply nodded. “Call for backup.”
“Got it.”
Making sure to not make a noise that will alert them, Haru finally arrives and while managing to capture Yongguk’s attention, she motions him to start. She looks up to the one sliding door that stood at least 15 feet high and 8 feet wide and she grabs it and starts pushing.
The loud creaking noise coming from both sides immediately and predictably alarms the group inside an
