KIM HYUNJOONG

 

I looked at Somin who was still occupied herself with her work. I made her stayed and worked at the sofa inside my office since I called her at lunch. We even had our lunch and dinner here.

 

 ‘She is such a hard worker. Shinhye picked the right person to be her assistant.’ I thought.

 

After few hours together, Somin was no more hesitantly asked me if there was something she did not understand. Her smiles also formed out on her lips few times. It was fun to see her expression while worked on the report. If she confused, her eyebrow moved up and formed wrinkles on her forehead. If she understood the data, she would smile and grinned. It just like saw a silent movie.  

 

I looked at the watch. 10:00 PM. “Somin-ssi. I think enough for today.” I said.

 

She held her head up and looked at her watch. “Oh, ok.” She packed her things. “Thank you for your assistant.” Somin gathered her things, smiled, bowed a little.

 

I nodded and she walked away.

 

I smirked. ‘I have to do this much often.’ I packed my things. 

 

‘I should wait for a while so I can get to the elevator with her.’ After few minutes, I stood up and walked out my office. I reached her place and saw no one there. ‘She already left.’ I felt a bit disappoint. I walked to the elevator and press the down button.

 

I realized that it was raining hard once I was off the building with my sport car. Just after a block, I saw a car parked on the side road and I saw Somin walked out from the car. ‘What is she doing there?’

 

Without second thought, I parked my car in front of Somin’s car and got out.

 

“What is wrong?” I asked after I reached her.

 

Somin held her head and looked at me. I could see that she was happy to see me. “I don’t know. This car is just stop.”

 

“It is raining. Just leave it here. I will take you home.” I said.

 

“But-“

 

“I will call my driver to bring a mechanic and see your car. Come on!”

 

“Ok. I will get my bag.” Somin rushed to her car and got her bag.

 

I walked toward my car and she followed me.

 

“Where is your home?” I asked when we were inside my car.

 

She mumbled her address.

 

I started to drive my car. “Give me your car key.”

 

She handed me her car key.

 

“Just get some rest.” I said.

 

I could feel she was laying her body into the chair and said nothing.

 

After 15 minutes, I reached her house. I stopped the car and turned my head toward her. She was asleep. I sighed. But, instead of woke her up, I stared at her face and looked it closely. ‘She is pretty when she is sleeping.’ I smiled. “Somin-ah. Wake up!” I shook her body.

 

After few times, she finally woke up and stared at me with her sleepy eyes.

 

‘She looks lovely.’ I suddenly felt unease. “You are home.”

 

She looked around. “Ah!” She prepared herself. “The rain is already stopping.” She opened the car’s door. “Gomawo, Mr Kim.” She got up from my car and walked toward her house.

 

I stared at her until she reached and entered the door. I took a deep breath, easing myself down. I just realized that my heart moved crazily inside. I cannot understand my feeling. I drove my car away from there.

 

 

 

JUNG YONGHWA

I stared at the ceiling in silence. I could not sleep at all. What happened between Shinhye and me at the Circus bother me so much. A yes? How could she say that? Was that mean- That Shinhye.. Gosh! I couldn’t lie that I still- ‘I am still.. The love inside me.. It never really- I still..’

 

A yes? ‘Does she feel the same way like I do? Does she like me too?’

 

I took a deep breath. I regretted it. I regretted it so much. Not the silly talk.. But the time! ‘Why.. Why I never..  Why did not I have the courage to get the answer directly from her?’ I put my hand to cover my eyes.

 

‘And now, it is too late. I have Seohyun beside me. It will be unfair for her if I leave her and fight for Shinhye’s heart.’ I already thought about this over over and over again throughout the night. ‘Beside, Shinhye also has Shiyoon. I think that will be a great happy ending for all.’ My mind was over my heart.

 

 

 

JUNG SOMIN

 

‘It is almost lunch. I have not see Hyunjoong. Where is he? How about the report?’ I looked at a printed paper beside my laptop and took it. I opened and reread the report.

 

Ring! My office phone was ringing. I reached and answered it. "Yeoboseyo!"

 

“Miss Jung, Mr President does not feeling well so he will not be here today. But, he requires you to bring the report and meets him on his house.” Mrs Jang talked from the other side.

 

“Burago?” I could not believe that I heard.

 

“Yes! He is expecting you to be there right after lunch. His driver will take you there.” She reconfirmed what she said before.

 

‘And now he wants me at his house.’ I shook my head. “Arasso.”

 

I put the phone back and prepared myself. I had a quick lunch, went to the lobby and wait for the driver to pick me up. I had not heard anything about my car since I gave the key to Hyunjoong last night. Well, I just believed that he would take care of it. If there was something bad happened to my car, I also believed he just could buy me a new one.

 

The house was amazing. The size was five times larger than my house. I could not help myself to be amazed by the look of it. ‘So, this is the house of the richest man in Korea.’ I watched every detail of it as the car entered the gate and stopped in front of the house.

 

I got of the car and walked to the door. By the time I reached it, the door was opened. “Good afternoon Ms Jung.” An old lady with uniform greeted me. She bowed.

 

I bowed a little.

 

“Mr Kim will see you in his office. I will you there. Please follow me.” She started to walk.

 

I followed her. Everything inside the house was very breathtaking - so elegant. Gold, black and brown dominated the color. I stopped and looked at the picture hang in the middle room - An old man, a spouse and a young man. They looked happy. I made a wild guess that the young man was Hyunjoong.

 

“This is him?” I could help myself.

 

The old lady stopped her feet and followed my sight. “Yes.” She said. “The picture was taken right before Mr and Mrs Kim had the accident.” Sadness could be felt from her voice.

 

I just nodded and stared at Hyunjoong’s picture. ‘His smile..’

 

“Should we?”

 

“Ah! Come on.”

 

We walked again. We stopped in front of a door. The old lady opened the door. I walked in. The old lady bowed and leaved me there.

 

I looked around the room. The room was big enough. It is bigger that Hyunjoong’s office at KIM Tower. ‘He loved black.’  Most of the furniture was in black - The table, the chair, the couch. There was a very big television with a camera. ‘Maybe it is for video conference meeting.’   I touched the leather couch.

 

“Do you bring the report?” A voice shocked me.

Somin put her right hand onto her chest. She was shocked to death.  “Aishh, you scared me.” She could not help herself to pout.

 

Hyunjoong stared at her face and the corner of his lips moved up a little, created a light smile. He closed the door, walked in and sat at the couch. “Sit!” He said.

 

Somin sat at a single couch, far enough from Hyunjoong. She stared at Hyunjoong. Hyunjoong wore his casual clothes – gray sweat pants and a green shirt. It was different to see him on his casual clothes. He did not give mysterious and intimidating effects. ‘He does not look sick.’

 

“Where is the report?” Hyunjoong asked again.

 

“Ah..” Somin handed him a printed report.

 

Hyunjoong took the report. “Pen!”

 

Somin opened her bag and searched for a pen. Once she found it, she handed it to Hyunjoong.

 

Hyunjoong took it and started to read the report without looking at Somin. He gave few notes on the report. Somin just looked at him in silence.

 

It was been more than a hour after Somin handed the report. “Don’t you need my explanation?” She asked in low voice.

 

Hyunjoong looked at her. “Do I need your explanation?”

 

“Well.. That is my report. And..” Somin could not finish her statement.

 

“I understand my company so well. I just need you to make this report because this is such a dirty job for me and I will not do it.” Hyunjoong stared into Somin’s eyes.

 

Somin felt unease.

 

KNOCK! KNOCK!

 

An old man walked in. “I heard we have a guest.”

 

Somin stood up.

 

“Harabeoji.. This is Jung Somin, Shinhye’s assistant.”

 

“Annyeonghaseyo!” Somin bowed.

 

“Ah, just sit Somin-ah.” Grand Father Kim sat beside Hyunjoong.

 

Somin sat on her couch.

 

“Hyunjoong never had his friend to come over here.”

 

“Harabeoji..”

 

“That is true.” Grand Father Kim smiled widely. “Even his office mates never come. I wonder whether he really have friend.”

 

Somin looked at Grand Father Kim in disbelief. “Really? But you have a very big and beautiful house. It is such a waste..” Somin holds her tongue.

 

Grand Father Kim laughed. “I said that to him long time ago.”

 

Somin glanced at Hyunjoong to see his reaction. But, he was so taken by the report. Somin sighed in relief.

 

“You should stay and have dinner with us.” Grand Father Kim smiled.

 

“No!” Somin snapped and then cursed herself. “I mean.. After Mr Kim is finish checking on the report, I shall go back to the office and finish it.”

 

“I will accept NO for an answer.” Grand Father Kim stood up. “I will see you on our dining table tonight.” He walked out before Somin said anything.

 

‘Now I know, that demanding attitude come from who..’ Somin shook her head.

 

“Here!” Hyunjoong handed her the report and the pen. “Do you bring your laptop?”

 

Somin took the report and nodded.

 

“Then do it here.” Hyunjoong stood up and walked to his table. He sat on his chair and focused on his computer.
