JUNG SOMIN

I walked Hyunjoong to his car after having dinner. He decided to go home directly after dinner and I understood why. I could not hold my tears when I walked him. ‘What a first love!’

Hyunjoong heard my sob. He stopped walking, held my shoulder and turned my body to face him. “Don’t cry.” He pleaded.

My body was shaking. I could not say anything. I just felt that my world has come to an end. “Oppa..”

He grabbed and hugged me tightly. “I will fight. I will not give up on you, Somin-ah.”

“But-“

“Trust me, ok? I will not give up.” He stared on my eyes and I could see that his eyes were cloudy.

 I could see his determination on his eyes. I nodded.

“Saranghaeyo.” He mumbled bitterly before a single tear dropped his eyes. He put his forehead onto mine.  “I will not let you go.” He said with his deep voice.

I sobbed and hugged him tightly. “Saranghae, Oppa.”

Yonghwa, Shinhye and Mrs Jung sat on the couch at the living room tried to discuss about the arranged marriage.

“Eomma, who is that man?” Yonghwa asked in calm but irritated voice.

Mrs Jung smiled. “You will meet him this Sunday.”

“But Eomma-“

Shinhye tightened her grab on Yonghwa’s hand. Yonghwa aware of that and tried to control himself.

“Yonghwa-ah, I only consider Somin’s happiness. This man will able to make her happy. I am sure.” Mrs Jung smiled.

“But, Somin-“

Somin entered the room and looked at them in silence. But, all the people there could see her teary eyes. She said nothing and walked to second floor toward her room.

Yonghwa took a long breath. “Eomma-“

“I will go to my room, Yonghwa-ah. No more discussion.” Mrs Jung stood up and walked away.

Yonghwa stared at Shinhye. “I never.. Never see Somin that sad.”

Shinhye smiled. “What will you do about this?”

Yonghwa ran his fingers amongst his hair. “I fail taking care of her.”

“You have to be strong, honey. She needs you.” Shinhye tapped his back. “You better go and calm her down.”

Yonghwa nodded. “Let me drive you home first.”

“It is ok, honey. I can go home all by myself. Somin needs you more than I do right now.” She caressed his cheek.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.” Shinhye nodded. “Go now!”

JUNG YONGHWA

I knocked on Somin’s door but she did not response. I tried to open the door and found it locked. I sighed. I still could remember her teary eyes. I remembered that she was crying hard when our Appa died. But now, Somin seemed so devastated. I promised myself to take care of her and Eomma after Appa died. I would not let them hurt. And, I just broke my promise.

I heard her sobbing behind the door. I dared myself to knock again. “Somin-ah, this is me. Please open the door.”

No response.

“Somin-ah, let’s talk about this.”

Again. No response.

“I will help you. Believe in me.” I said as my last effort.

After few seconds, I could hear a sound of opened lock. Somin opened the door.

I stared at her. She was still crying. I hugged her tightly. “We will figure it out. Don’t worry.”

KIM HYUNJOONG

I threw my body over the couch at the living room. I was doomed. I stared at the empty wall. It was like being kicked to the bottom of hell. I could not lose her. I just found her. I wanted her to be mine. ‘I should be ways richer from that guy. That’s for sure. I will use my power to pursue her mother and make that man walk back.’

“Hyunjoong-ah, what is going on?” Harabeoji showed up and walked toward me.

I did not change my position and did not look back at him.

He sat across me. “What is wrong?”

I sighed deeply. “Somin’s mother already choose a man to be her husband.” I said in low and despair voice.

“Mwo? How come?” Harabeoji said in surprise.

I did not answer. ‘How should I know?’ I put my palm on my face. ‘Ough! I want to kill that man!’

“Then? What is your plan?”

I removed my palm from my face. “Harabeoji, will you help me?”

Harabeoji smiled. “Do you love her?”

“A lot! You will have no idea how deep I love her. How I want her to be my wife.” I stated my feeling.

JUNG SOMIN

I could not sleep at all. And, I could not cry again. I felt so much tired. I just laid there at my bed. My eyes were wide open and felt sore because I kept on crying through all the night. ‘So, this is how heartbroken feels like.’

I moved my body and hugged my pillow – thinking of Hyunjoong. I would never regret that I met him. He made me feel that I was loved and wanted. And, I felt the same way about him. I sighed. I prayed and prayed and prayed that this was just a nightmare. But, when Oppa said that I was going to see my future husband at Sunday, I just lost hopes.

RANG!

I stayed still and ignored my phone. The ringing went off after few minutes. But, it was ringing again. I took a deep breath, reached it and push yes button without looking who was calling.

“Somin-ah..” Hyunjoong’ voice was on the other side.

“Hm..” I had no strength to build up a conversation.

“I already talked to Harabeoji. He will help.” He explained. “I will not give up on you. Do you hear me? So, don’t you dare give up on me!”

“I am going to meet him this Sunday.” I said.

I could hear his gasping. And, I just kept silence.

“I will find a way.” He said again.

PARK SHINHYE

I had my breakfast at Yonghwa’s house. But, I did not see Somin anywhere. Yonghwa kept silence. I knew that he tried to find a way out for Somin’s problem. I truly understand that he would tried his very best to make Somin happy.

“You should discuss it with me first Eomma.” Yonghwa said without looking at his Eomma.

Eomma looked at him. “Are you saying that I make a wrong decision?”

Yonghwa took a depth breath. “Can’t you see that Somin and Hyunjoong are attracted to each other? Can’t you see that he is the first man who can reach and hold Somin’s hand? She loves him.” He tried to explain.

Mrs Jung’s eyes got wider. “Really?”

Shinhye nodded. “It seems that they loved each other, Eomma. Actually I already sensed it since the first time Somin joined KIM Group.”

“OMO! Really?” Mrs Jung surprised.

Shinhye looked at Yonghwa who stared blankly to his meals. Ah, poor Yonghwa. He felt so much guilty.

“How about calling off the deal?” Yonghwa said.

“It is not that easy.” Mrs Jung said. “I already gave my promise.”
