"Yoon Jeonghan."
Hana, overhearing the name muttered under Jisoo's breath, felt her blood run cold. Why was that name so familiar? Pretending to not have heard the exchange between the two boys, Hana ran back to her room and closed the door. Locking it behind her, she ran over to her bed and pulled out a small box that held her little keepsakes and precious knick-knacks. She rummaged through the trinkets until she found what she was looking for--a small jewelry box. She had had the necklace inside the box for as long as she could remember. She pulled out the iridescent crystal that was held together by silver wire. Holding it up to the sunlight, she saw the intricate designs and symbols inscribed on the insides. Seeing this for the first time, Hana looked closely at the crystal to see what was written inside of it.
Seol Hana - Princess of the Guardian Angels
Hana dropped the crystal in shock. Could it be that what Jisoo and Soonyoung were talking about was true? Hana sunk down on to her bed, deep in thought. Her, a princess? A Guardian Angel? What kind of nonsense was this? Suddenly, a bright purple light shot out from the crystal, momentarily blinding her. When she opened her eyes again the world had changed....literally. She was no longer in the warm safety of her bedroom, but in a white violet-tinted fluffy bed of clouds. Looking down, she gasped seeing that she was no longer in her comfortable clothes, but in a silky white gown with a shimmery transparent violet cloak. She yelped in surprise, alerting whoever was outside, as swarms of soldiers immediately filled the room.
"Princess! You have returned!!!" a boy IDENTICAL to Dong Woo shouted as he ran into the room.
"What? Princess?" Hana squeaked as she whisked out of the room by the Dong Woo look-alike.
"Dong Woo?" The Dong Woo look-alike looked down at her with a panicked expression before ducking into a room.
"You know? Everything?" Dong Woo asked setting Hana down and closing the door tightly behind him.
"Uh...no? Do you mind explaining to me?" Hana asked crossing her arms and looking up at him with a pouty face.
Dong Woo sighed. "Okay. This is going to sound REALLY weird to you, but you're not human."
Hana frowned. "Ya think?" She asked pointing at the feathery wings that were somehow attached to her back.
Sighing, Dong Woo pressed a button on the wall. "Calling Jang Hyun Mi and friends to Sky Room. Jang Hyun Mi and friends."
Immediately after he spoke into the intercom, Hyun Mi flew down from the ceiling followed by a variety of other creatures that Hana identified as her friends.
"Hyun Mi? Seul Yi? Maerin? Wait guys....what's going on?" Hana began to panic as she saw them morph out of their mystical form and back into their human state.
"It's okay Hana. This is our true form." Bi Ah said floating down to the ground and folding her pinkish white wings.
Suddenly, Seul Yi popped up in front of Hana's face, surprising the confused Guardian Angel. Hana immediately shrieked, causing the strange soldiers from earlier to come swarming into the room.
"What...is going on...." Hana looked around at her friends' faces, trying to read them as she panicked. "Somebody please. Please tell me."
"Princess Hana....I think you need some rest." a voice said next to her ear.
Turning her head, Hana almost shrieked again seeing Maerin's tiny figure on her shoulder. Dong Woo, seeing Hana's mind completely freaking out, immediately signaled for the soldiers to leave, and left the room to contact someone. As they left, Maerin flew down from Hana's shoulder and morphed back into her human form. Seeing the different coloured eyes of her friends, Hana began to hyperventilate.
"Hana...I need you to take a deep breath. In....and out...." HeeJin said approaching the scared child cautiously.
Following Heejin's instructions, Hana felt her heart rate being to slow down, only to be brought back up again when the door slammed open.
"Where's my sister?" a familiar voice shouted.
Hana sprang up. "Oppa!" she cried as she ran towards Jungkook. "What's happening?" she sobbed as he her hair comfortingly.
"Shhh...it's okay...everything's gonna be alright..." Hana cried into his chest as the friends gathered around the siblings.
"Can you guys give us a moment?" Jungkook asked. "I think she's in shock." he added quietly as she whimpered.
Giving eachother knowing looks, they slowly left the room, giving the royal siblings some privacy.
"What's happening? I don't even know what I am anymore" Hana wailed collapsing to the floor.
"Hana...I need you to look at me."
Hana raised her deep brown eyes to look into Jungkook's identical ones and soon found herself lost in some sort of room. Wandering around in the room, she found a table with a violet storybook on it. Being the bookworm that she was, she immediately sat herself down and began to read.
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom of guardian angels. The king and queen of the guardian angels protected all humans in the real world, and only made the presence of mystical beings to be known to humans through books that the humans called 'fairy tales'. The king and queen guarded the identity of all mystical beings with all their hearts. All was perfect in the land of mystical beings until an angel with the surname Yoon betrayed them all. He used the magical books to jump through portals and change important events for the worse. He began to target undercover mystical beings who did not know of their identities and used his magical powers to convert them to evil. The king and queen banished him from the kingdom to the deep dark depths of an abyss in the Under World. A couple hundreds of years after his banishment, the queen became pregnant with a child, her firstborn - Prince Jungkook. Prince Jungkook was born with the rarest power of all guardian angels, the power of creating portals. His birth became a milestone to all mystical beings as his power caused a new portal to open to the Under World. The joyous day immediately took a turn for the worse as Yoon found the portal and used it to escape in to the real world, endangering the lives of all mystical beings that did not have any sort of knowledge on their identity. The king and queen spent all their time in protecting the mystical beings and the magical kingdom as it was the only way they knew to stop Yoon. What Yoon didn't know, was that all mystical beings have a part of them existing in alternate worlds, whether they know of their mystical identity in those worlds or not. As he traveled through the worlds through the magical books, he began to wipe out all mystical beings that he recognized, thinking that they were there to eliminate his existence from the universe. However, on one of his many excursions to the real world, he fell in love with a young girl by the name of Ye Eun. Ye Eun became the love of his life, and although he would not be able to live with her forever as he was an immortal being, he did everything possible in his power to keep her alive and young with him forever. His powers were not as strong in the real world as they are in the realm of mystical beings, and seeing that, he decided to bring Ye Eun back with him to his home-realm. However, as soon as she crossed the portal, she disintegrated and Yoon lost her forever. Devastated, he went back through every portal possible to find her. As he crossed through different realms with the magical books, his powers began to disappear slowly, one-by-one. By the time he realized that his powers were being stripped from him, he was left with one -- the power to sweet talk and get others to believe in him. Using this power to his advantage, he broke both magical and mystical laws to find the one he loved. After thousands of years of searching, he finally found her in the year of 2016 with a different identity -- Kim Jihye, a victim of bullying. Yoon already knew what would happen in her world -- she'd end up with a kid named Hong Jisoo and they'd live happily ever after. Yoon's heart hardened upon learning that Jisoo would save her from committing suicide and that he would be best friends with himself. So, Yoon set out on a mission to sabotage Jisoo's confession. The perfect sabotage mission that would end with the most perfect of deaths. He knew the consequences of breaking magical and mystical laws and no longer cared for them. He began to torture those who became close with him, both mortals and mystical beings alike, and tricked them into thinking that the wrong things they did would protect the ones they loved. The mystical beings that were able to go through portals and switch into their alternate identities were forced to do evil things benefitting Yoon. If they didn't listen to him, he would torture them and threaten to hurt the ones they loved. Meanwhile, in the realm of mystical beings, the king and queen had another child, Princess Hana. When Yoon had tried to bring Ye Eun to the mystical realm, he had failed because her alternate identity did not quite exist just yet, PLUS her alternate identity was a royal. What Yoon didn't know was that royals had a multitude of powers and had unlimited access to all of their alternate identities, whether they be in the realm of mystical beings or in the real world. Although Yoon never returned to the realm of mystical beings, others were sent through different portals to receive magical treatment from Yoon's torture and beatings. Yoon's wrong decisions caused his prisoners to receive the worst of his punishments, the most common one being the revealing of mystical powers to mortal beings. In order to protect their children, the king and queen sent Prince Jungkook and Princess Hana to the real world along with their most trusted officials/family friends. The two children grew up in the real world with Prince Jungkook knowing their mystical identities and Princess Hana having no idea of even the existence of mystical beings. The two were shielded and protected by the trusted family officials as they grew up, and are still currently residing in the real world. The two have not seen their biological parents since that fateful day sixteen years ago. Although Princess Hana does not know it, her mystical side has slowly been taking over her alternate identity. Soon, she will come to know of her identity as a mystical being and will be transported back to the mystical realm. The king and queen assigned Special Agent Hong Jisoo to the real world to retrieve Princess Hana and Prince Jungkook. However, he encountered Yoon in one of the alternate worlds and lost all memory of his mystical identity and anything to do with mystical beings through a terrible car accident that took the life of one of his alternate identities. The king and queen lost all contact with Special Agent Hong Jisoo and in turn sent Special Agent Chwe Hansol to bring back Princess Hana and Prince Jungkook. However, Prince Jungkook returned to the palace by making a new portal and has since then been working on finding Special Agent Chwe Hansol to relieve him of his mission.
Hana noticed that the book stopped abruptly after the last sentence. Turning the page, she noticed that more words were being written as she continued to read. What in the world is going on? Hana stood up and backed up from the book. I'm Princess Hana....princess of the Guardian Angels...OMG....Jisoo... Hana turned around and began to run...or...well try to. Instead, she found her eyes snap open as Jungkook closed his.
"Do you understand now?" he asked rubbing his temple.
"What did you just do?" Hana whispered, shocked that she had never left the room.
"That's another one of my powers. I can project my memories and thoughts through a storybook form to whoever I wish to show." he said walking across the room, still rubbing his temple.
"It takes a lot out of my energy, but it's worth it if it means that you'll understand everything about your identity." he said smiling at his younger sister.
"Jisoo....he's a special agent?" Hana whispered slowly lowering herself onto the ground, just in case she fainted from all the information swimming in her head.
"Yeah...and he's supposed to be the best of the best too." Jungkook said crossing the room to where Hana was.
"How many powers do you have?" Hana asked, her eyes filled with wonder.
"Hmm...I'm not sure. I discover a new power every single day. I inherited the ones that all royals have, and then there's my rare ability, and a couple other ones too..." looking over at Hana's amazed expression, he laughed and listed them off. "Okay, okay. Let's see....there's creating portals, projecting memories/knowledge, telekinesis, mind reading, immortality (of course), duplication, invisibility, speed learning, and healing."
"Heol....that's a lot!!!" Hana exclaimed, her eyes widening in awe.
Laughing, Jungkook patted Hana's head affectionately. "Are you ready to meet our biological parents, bunny?"
Hana nodded her head enthusiastically. All her life, she thought that her parents lived in America and sent her and Jungkook to Korea, but thinking about it. Like REALLY thinking about it, she was never able to recall any sort of memory that she had with them. She couldn't even remember what they were supposed to look like! She lived her whole entire life thinking that she was just another normal, average, not-popular-but-not-a-loser type of girl, but now she's a PRINCESS? Hana let out a little laugh of excitement and skipped after her brother as the sibling pair walked down the long hallways of the palace.
"Prince Jungkook. Princess Hana. The king and queen await you." a soldier with a familiar face said crossing his arm across his chest and bowing his head.
Jungkook nodded at the soldier as the two passed by in to the throne room.
"Oppa. Isn't that Hoseok-ie Oppa from across the hall?" Hana whispered nudging the older as they entered a white room that was accented with violet decorations.
"Like you read, the king and queen sent us to the real world with trusted family officials. Hoseok hyung was one of them." he said smiling as the younger chased after him.
"Your majesty" Jungkook knelt, his right arm crossed over his chest and his head bowed.
Not knowing what to do, Hana followed Jungkook's position and knelt down next to him. Upon seeing their daughter copy her older brother in showing respect the way males do, the queen burst out in laughter and rose out of her seat. She quickly skipped down the stairs and touched her son's chin, signaling him to stand up again.
"Awwww. Let me see how much you two have grown!" the queen said, happy tears springing to her eyes.
The last time she had seen her daughter was a week after her birth. The king and queen had to send her off to the real world quickly to avoid the risk of Yoon snatching her up. They knew which powers she would be receiving since she was the prophesied one.
Hana looked up at the queen, surprised to see how similar they looked.
"....Umma?" she whispered unsurely as the queen wrapped her in a hug.
"I'm here, my baby angel. I'm here. And I'll never leave you again. I'm so so sorry, baby." the queen Hana's hair as Hana returned the hug and began to cry.
"Mommyyyyyyy"
The king rose from his seat and joined his wife in hugging their daughter. Jungkook, not wanting to be left out, joined the group hug and soon the throne room was filled with noises of happy cries and sniffling. Suddenly, a familiar figure burst through the throne room doors in a panicked hurry.
"Excuse my uninvited presence your majesties, but we have a problem. A big one."
"Namjoon Ssaem*?" Hana breathed in surprise.
"What is it? What's wrong?" the king stiffened, ready to hear the bad news.
"It's Yoon...he's back...I don't know how, but he somehow found a portal back to the mystical realm and he's looking for someone named Jihye."
Hana gasped in surprise. "Didn't he kill Jisoo because of this Jihye chic?" she asked, slightly jealous that Jisoo liked someone else.
"Yes. He did. We still have yet to find Special Agent Hong Jisoo because of this."
"Actually....Hana and I kinda found him....but he's back at our apartment....like right now." Jungkook said not making eye contact with anyone in the room.
"Oppa, we have to go back. I think Jisoo and SoonYoung are in danger." Hana said, giving him a pleading look.
"May we?" Jungkook asked, looking back at the king and queen.
"Go. It's the only way to protect the kingdom from whatever evil Yoon might do here." the king said.
The two siblings gave their parents another hug before Jungkook made the portal. He closed his eyes and began swinging his right arm in a circular motion, picturing their apartment back in the real world. A bright violet light appeared, swallowing the siblings and transporting them to the apartment, right in front of Jisoo and Soonyoung. Soonyoung dropped the bag of Chinese take-out as Jungkook and Hana appeared straight out of thin air. Hana's eyes widened upon seeing a violet tint in both Soonyoung and Jisoo's eyes.
"You know..." Soonyoung whispered.
Suddenly, three harsh knocks sounded at the door. Before anybody could move, a deep voice spoke.
"Seol Hana....I know you're in there...I can smell you."
ssaem = slang for teacher (usually a teacher that you're close with)
