"So Jiyoo" a familiar cheerful voice rang out as she walked down the crowded hallway towards her locker, "How was your summer?" Jiyoo turned to her side to see Seo-yun, her best friend since practically birth, falling into step with her. Because of Seo-yun's trip to Italy for the summer, they spent the summer apart with no communication (long distance calls were expensive) for the first time in their seventeen years.

"It was okay. Nowhere near as exciting as yours. The little kids in the daycare center were so adorable though." Jiyoo said, smiling as memories of her time with the kids flashed through her mind.

"You're still working there right?" Seo-yun asked as they reached their neighboring lockers.

"Yup, every day after school. I need the money and besides, those little kids are too cute to give up."

"Aww… no more hanging out at the mall after school then?"

"I guess not. Though you could take the job at the center with me," Jiyoo said, looking at Seo-yun with a hopeful smile.

Seo-yun wrinkled her nose, "Sorry, but no thanks. You know I'm not a kid person."

Jiyoo recalled the multiple panicked calls she received when Seo-yun was babysitting and agreed laughing, "Yeah, you're right." She checked her phone for the time and hurriedly got what she needed out of her locker, "Speaking of the daycare center, I've gotta go now if I wanna get there on time." With one last parting wave, she got out of the school building and got into her car, not noticing the deep brown eyes following her figure as she passed.

Jiyoo arrived at work on time just a few minutes before the kids from the elementary school trickled in, waiting to be picked up by their parents later. Before she knew it, two small black heads ran up to her and squeezed her to death.

"Here Miss Jiyoo" the boy said as he gave her a yellow daisy, "I saw it and I thought of you because you're always happy like the color yellow and pretty like the flower."

Jiyoo smiled at the boy and gave him a hug, "That's so sweet of you Minjun."

The girl then tugged at Jiyoo's sleeves, "I have something for you too, Ms. Jiyoo" the little girl said as she took out a beaded green bracelet.

Jiyoo awarded the girl with a soft smile, "Haeun, it's beautiful. Did you make it yourself?"

Haeun shyly put her hands behind her back and nodded, "I chose the color 'cuz it's like your eyes."

She gave both Haeun and Minjun another hug and thanked them again, "So guys, how about we do some coloring today?"

Both children enthusiastically exclaimed their assent and soon led her by the hand towards the art room. Jiyoo couldn't help but let out a chuckle at their excitement. Although she loved all the kids in the center, she held a soft spot for both Haeun and Minjun, who were both twins. As usual, she sat, content with watching them color and listening to them talk.

"Miss Jiyoo, do you have a boyfriend?" Minjun asked.

Jiyoo smiled and shook her head "Can't say I do, Minjun."

Haeun looked up curiously, "How come Miss Jiyoo?"

Jiyoo shrugged, "I don't know."

Minjun puffed his chest, "Well, if I was taller like my brother, I would make you my girlfriend."

Jiyoo laughed and ruffled his head, "Well that's sweet of you." Looking around, she stood up, "I have to go check on the others first, I'll be back later to see what you've drawn today." She walked away, not noticing the twins' heads coming together, obviously plotting something.

Parents were soon coming in to pick up their children and soon Raina saw Mrs. Lee walking towards the center from the window. She went into the art room to fetch Minjun and Haeun and found them doing the finishing touches of their drawing. It looked like they worked together on this particular drawing, with Minjun coloring what looked like brown hair and Haeun coloring a skirt. They looked up as they heard her approach.

"Hi Miss Jiyoo, wanna see our drawing of you?"

"Drawing of me? Sure," she smiled. They handed her the drawing and saw the brown haired, green eyed figure. She ruffled both heads and gave the drawing back to them, "Aww thanks guys."

They all exited the art room and the twins made a beeline towards their mom. "Thanks Jiyoo," Mrs. Lee called out and waved goodbye.

Jiyoo gave them one last smile and wave as she watched them walk out.

The next day during lunch time, Jiyoo found her eyes scanning the cafeteria for Seo-yun. Their regular lunch table for their entire high school career was now occupied by freshmen. After sweeping her eyes around the room again, she found Seo-yun waving her over, sitting with Na Jaemin and the rest of his jock friends, including Lee Jeno, the most popular guy in school. Being a popular guy, one would think that he's an arrogant womanizing jerk, but that wasn't the case. Lee Jeno was nice. He was friendly. He's never had a girlfriend. And all the girls in school wanted him to some degree.

Jiyoo headed towards their table and greeted the group with a smile. "Hey, Jiyoo" Seo-yun greeted. "Our table was kind of occupied when I got in, but luckily, Jaemin here offered us a seat." She grinned at Jaemin and patted his arm. Jiyoo held back a smirk. Seo-yun's liked Jaemin since forever and would never refuse a chance to be near him.

Jiyoo took her seat next to Seo-yun and happily set her tray down. She felt someone's gaze on her and looked up to see a set of deep brown eyes, Jeno's eyes, which were as dark as the night sky. "Hey, I know we've seen each other around but I've never officially introduced myself to you. I'm Jeno." He stuck his hand out, which surprised her since nobody really greeted anyone with handshakes anymore, at least nobody her age did.

She took his hand, "Jiyoo" she said in return.

Jeno flashed a blinding smile, "I know."

"I guess it's time to say goodbye to that table," Seo-yun said, looking towards their old table.

Jiyoo smiled, "We did have some good conversations there."

Jaemin raised his eyebrows, "Good conversations? Sounds intriguing."

Jeno grinned, "Well from now on you guys can let us join some of those good conversations for the rest of the year."

"You know what?" Seo-yun asked, "We might just take you up on that offer.

Jiyoo rushed through the barren hallway after school. She was running a little late for work since she helped Ms. Kim, her chemistry and favorite teacher, restock the lab materials they had used in class that day. She was about to turn the corner when she heard two familiar voices. In an instant, she realized that it was Jeno and Jaemin.

"…I don't know dude, I really like her," Jeno was saying.

"So what's stopping you? You've been pining for almost a year." Jaemin replied.

Jeno sighed loudly, "I don't know, she just makes me so nervous."

Realizing that she was eavesdropping, Jiyoo continued on towards the exit to get to her car. She noticed Jeno and Jaemin immediately cease their conversation and give her a friendly smile and wave, Jeno looking slightly nervous.

"Need a ride?" Jaemin offered.

Jiyoo smiled and held up her keys, "I've got one. Thanks though, I appreciate it." With one last final wave, she headed out the door.

As she was driving towards the daycare center, Jiyoo couldn't help but think about the conversation between Jeno and Jaemin. It seems like Jeno, the guy that almost everyone had a crush on, was interested in someone. Jiyoo frowned, feeling a tiny pang in her chest, not knowing the cost of it. As she parked her car in front of the daycare center and headed inside, Jiyoo couldn't help but think that the girl that Jeno was crushing on was one lucky girl.

"So are you two going to the football game tonight?" Jaemin asked both Jiyoo and Seo-yun, although his eyes were more focused on Seo-yun.

"Yup," Seo-yun said brightly.
