"Ready?"
Message SendingBold is Junhui, Italics is Minghao!
[August 2, Tuesday]
Minghao didn’t really think this through.
It had only occurred to him when he was on the bus that he was coming straight from school; he was left with no time to change out of his regular attire, which consisted of a graphic tee and skinny jeans, paired with ratty sneakers. All three articles were covered with splatters of paint here and there. Minghao had completely forgotten that he had a painting session on the same day of his date. Just his luck.
He did consider rushing back home, but then he figured he’d rather be on time.
Besides, somewhere in the back of his mind he could almost hear Jeonghan telling him that it was inevitable for Junhui to see him in his actual clothing style.
(3:13PM) I’m standing by the tree already!
(3:15PM) Right under the Nutcracker ornament with one arm.
(3:15PM) Ah, that one. I drew that for class once.
(3:16PM) You’ll know where to find me then!
The brunette’s worrying shifted from his clothing to the actual fact that he was on a date shortly before he neared the large Christmas tree. Minghao ran a hand through his hair in an effort to fix it and also as a nervous habit, knowing that it did close to nothing anyway. As he walked, his eyes scanned the area and soon spotted a tall blonde who was quite hard to miss. Even on a school day, Junhui looked like he was dressed for a special event.
Belatedly, Minghao figured that’s what he should have done as well.
Before he could reconsider his clothing choice once more, sharp brown eyes met his and soon dissolved into half-crescent moons. With a bright grin on his face already, Junhui began to wave wildly at Minghao’s general direction, as if he wasn’t eye-catching enough. He even easily captured the attention of people walking around him, although whether that was due to Junhui’s good looks or his current actions, the brunette wasn’t sure.
Right as Minghao stepped closer, he took notice of how Junhui eyed him up and down.
“Well, someone’s a little messy today,” the blonde said cheerfully.
“Painting class,” Minghao explained briefly. “I forgot to bring a change of clothes.”
“I’m glad you forgot,” the other boy said cheekily. “I like this look on you. Very natural, very Minghao.”
The brunette tried to think of a something he could quip back, but as he eyed Junhui himself, he found any snarky comment he would have said flying out the window. The other boy was dressed in a plain, black shirt over acid washed jeans, paired with a denim jacket. Minghao wasn’t sure if he just didn’t notice the last time they were together, but his eyes caught onto the glint of silver dangling on Junhui’s ear.
He shrugged in response, “at least you look good today. That makes one of us.”
The compliment was out his lips before Minghao really had enough time to think about it, realizing what he said only after he noticed the way Junhui’s eyes widened.
“Play fair, Minghao!”
“What do you mean?” The brunette asked innocently, trying to keep a smile from forming. There was also a very nice shade of pink forming on Junhui’s cheeks, one that was hard to miss with the way the other boy had decided to hide his face behind his hands. They were very nice hands, but the other boy had a much nicer face. Minghao found it a shame to be hidden, so he eventually laughed and broke his composure.
“You know exactly what you’re doing,” Junhui said, peeping through his fingers.
Minghao grinned, “maybe. Stop hiding your face, I came all the way here to see you.”
“You’re doing it again!”
“Just come on, Junhui.”
