There came a night in November when Park Chanyeol shuffled out of the bedroom at 1a.m. to a dimly lit living room. The television hadn’t been switched off, flashing harsh rays onto the face leaning on the couch. Byun Baekhyun was sound asleep in his cozy corner, knees pulled up to his chest, sweater sleeves stretched over his long fingers. He sighed softly when the television shut down with a click. Chanyeol put down the remote and bent over the small body under the moonlight. Even in sleep, his lips were pressed in a determined line, no doubt he had fully intended to stay up till Yixing landed and returned.

Chanyeol let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. He pushed his fingers through his hair in frustration. Baekhyun had been having a cough lately, and the living room wasn’t exactly the warmest place in the house. This boy really needed to learn to love himself.

Heading to the room he shared with Baekhyun, he returned with an armful of blankets, which he gently tucked Baekhyun in until all he was left with was the small face and head of soft brown hair.

He stared at the sleeping face and found himself closing the distance between them, stopping only inches away from those lips.

“Baekhyun ah…”

He let out a pained sigh and shifted to place the softest kiss between his brows. He closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of the boy he loved but couldn’t have.
