Jongdae never panicked that much in his life. Of course, he loved Baekhyun, and he knew that for sure, but he didn’t want to come out and publicize it for the world to know yet. That’s how it is, and it’s how it always should be.
That’s how it was.
Taeyeon didn’t seem to be bothered, though, much to Jongdae’s surprise. He knew she had a special place in her heart for Baekhyun, especially since he was a big fan. Her face seemed to glow with an expression Jongdae was unfamiliar with.
She smiled at the two. “You guys are together?” she whispered excitedly. “Like, officially?”
“Not officially yet,” Baekhyun said, choosing his words carefully. “But yes, we’re together.” He paused. “We haven’t told anyone yet, because…well…”
“I know,” Taeyeon said, still in awe. “Like, how the world would react if they found out that two members of EXO were gay for each other?”
Baekhyun pursed his lips. “As silly as it sounds, yeah.”
Jongdae pressed himself closer to Baekhyun as he stared at Taeyeon uneasily.
Taeyeon seemed to blush a little. “My prediction came true,” she said ecstatically to herself.
Jongdae furrowed his eyebrows with confusion. “What prediction?” he asked warily. Is this girl stalking us? Who knows what she’s doing! She probably takes secret pictures of us for all we know!
She smiled. “I’ve actually been keeping my eye on you two for a while.”
The three entered the building after the large crowd of the other members and groups, and Taeyeon pulled them aside, into a hallway.
“I totally knew you guys were going to get together at one point in your careers,” she explained. “It was a matter of when. You do know that the fans are writing about you, right?” She inhaled a bit. “Let’s face it, boys, we all knew you were going to get together eventually.”
Jongdae frowned as he held Baekhyun’s hand. There was something about Taeyeon’s voice that was almost mocking in a way. He knew she meant absolutely no harm, and he couldn’t help but be cautious. She wasn’t notoriously known for spreading rumors, but it was getting to the point where Jongdae decided he needed to be careful around her.
Baekhyun seemed to chuckle. “Was it that obvious?” he murmured. “I mean, I’ve liked him for a while. I just never how to approach him about it.”
“Well, now you have,” Taeyeon said. She smiled triumphantly. “And it’s awesome. I can’t believe you guys don’t want to tell anyone yet.”
“Probably not ever, for the sake of the group,” Jongdae said quietly. “It’ll be hard, but I think it needs to stay like that for a while.”
Taeyeon gave him a sweet smile. “Whatever you want to do. I’m here to support you guys.”
“Thanks for understanding, noona,” Baekhyun said, relieved.
“No problem,” she said. “Oh, and if you guys have anything you need to get off your chests, then just let me know, okay? We can’t have our golden couple suffering,” she laughed.
So she’s nice, Jongdae thought. I never knew she could be so…caring…
Now that Jongdae thought about it, Taeyeon wasn’t ever this nice. Of course, she was caring just as any noona would be, but she never really…what’s the word…fangirled about them, especially the rookie groups. Apart from that, groups within the company never really saw each other, and everyone knew that EXO and SNSD had the busiest schedules by far.
Jongdae felt awkward. He felt like he wanted to crawl into a hole and hibernate. Nothing felt right at that moment. It was almost as if he were sensing something.
No, he thought to himself. This is Taeyeon-noona. You can trust her.
Taeyeon winked at Jongdae, as if hearing his thoughts. “Don’t worry, Jongdae-yah, I’ll keep your secret.”

A couple weeks passed, and Jongdae was still bothered.
Taeyeon would visit the group during dance practices often, and it was obvious that she was checking up on Jongdae and Baekhyun. By then, all the members knew what was going on, and soon enough, it started spreading through the company. Baekhyun tried not to let it bother him, but Jongdae just couldn’t contain it anymore. Either they go all out, or not do this at all.
That was the way Jongdae rolled.
He started to regret admitting to Taeyeon and started to wonder if she actually kept her word. She seemed like a trustworthy person, but Jongdae just didn’t know.
One day, Jongdae decided to go out in the city and get some fresh air. The manager actually agreed to let Jongdae go out for a while, which was a first. Maybe I can buy those new shoes I want before the variety show hits…whatever it’s called, he thought. At least this will get me thinking about my shoe size instead of Taeyeon.
He pulled on a black cardigan and slipped his expensive Nike sneakers on before grabbing his wallet, his phone, and the rest of his basic necessities. He grabbed the doorknob and swung the door open before slipping quietly out of the dorm.
He walked down to the elevator, where he pushed the button and stood waiting. He watched the numbers count as the elevator came up ever so slowly. He didn’t even notice the fact that someone was
