“Ah Y/N, glad you can make it. I’m sorry to call you in but we’re running the teen program in a few days so we need to prepare the room and activities and such. Everyone else was so busy so I only managed to get ahold of you and another young man. I hope you don’t mind.” Mrs.Potter, the sweet librarian, gives you a flustered smile.

You feel pang of pity hit your chest. Her husband passed away a few weeks ago and she’d constantly be in the library, organizing activities to take her mind off of him. You’re just a volunteer at this library but even you know what an amazing person she is.

“Of course, I didn’t have anything planned at all.” You give her a smile to calm her down. It’s not a lie, ever since summer break started none of your friends bothered making plans with you so you’d stay at home, unless you’re volunteering at this library. Life’s pretty boring nowadays.

“Oh thank you sweetie, you’re a lifesaver! I totally forgot about this program since the LLNH program has been quite frantic. You know what? Come talk to me next week and I’ll get you an actual job here. You work better than the actual employees, you deserve to be paid.” She says rolling her eyes at the employees that were currently just standing around.

“Awe thank you Mrs.Potter! So, what do you want me to do first?” You ask, following her to the back room.

“I don’t know where the other volunteer is, but I’ll let you start with the designing. Please design anything that you’d think would be aesthetic for the teens. I’m far too old to guess what’s ‘in’ nowadays so I’ll leave it to you too. After you’re done that, you can go put it up in event room 3. Well, I’ve got to go help with the other program. Please explain these instructions to the young man when he shows up, and please help yourself to the snack in the kitchen. Bye Y/N.”

You smile as she walks out of the room. It’s quite sad to think that no one from school as bothered to make plans with you this summer but at least you’re around such positive people like Mrs.Potter. Plus she’s giving you a job here so there’s nothing to complain about. You put your coat on the coat rack before you get to work. You don’t know what theme to use so I’ll just start with making the posters.

~Time Skip to half an hour later~

“Sorry I’m late, the bus broke down so I had to walk all the way over here.” You hear a voice call out to you. You whip your head around and your eyes meet beautiful brown ones, causing your breath to catch in your throat.

“Oh, it’s fine…uh what’s your name?”

“Suho. I believe Mrs.Potter said yours was Y/N?” He questions, taking a seat across from you.

“Yup, you’re right. Well nice to meet you, Suho.” His eyes crinkle along with his smile.

“So, what are we supposed to do?” As you fill in the details you watch him carefully. He seems slightly familiar but you can’t remember where. You’re sure you’ve seen him somewhere. As you finish up the explanation, Suho raises a hand in the air as if he’s asking a teacher a question.

“Yes, Suho?” You ask, giggling at his action.

“Can we do a music theme? Pretty please!” He practically begs.

“What if I said no?” You smirk, deciding to toy with him for a bit.

“Too bad, we’ll do a music theme. I’ve already planned everything out in my head.” He laughs and starts working.

For a while, all is quiet except for the background music, which is basically your iPod that’s lying in the corner.

“Hey, Y/N?”

“Hm?” You stick the last music note up before turning to face him.

“What school do you go to?”

“I’m a junior at Cathartic High.”

“Woah. Guess what school I’m attending this year?” He says playfully.

You your head to the side in confusion.

“Cathartic High!” Damn, he’s really enthusiastic about everything.

“Really? No way.”

“Yup, I even got an orientation in the last week of school.” You snap your finger as the memory of him floods into your head. So that’s where you saw him. People were talking about a cute new boy that will be attending next year.

“Aha! Now I remember! I saw you there!” You’re so proud of your memory finally working for once that you do a mini-congratulatory dance. He stands there watching you in amusement.

“You’re interesting Y/N.” He says laughing.

“Thanks?” Things quiet down again until you hear one of your favourite songs, Odd Eye by SHINee playing on your iPod. Immediately you move towards it and increase the volume.

“You have a good taste in music.” He says nodding his head with acknowledgement.

“I know. Music is like my best friend since no human wants to fill in that position for me.” You ruefully reply, not taking your eyes off of the scissors in your hand.

“What do you mean?” Suho moves closer, curiously. You sigh shaking your head.

“Nothing really.” You don’t tell people your worries or issues, it’s just something your uncomfortable with.

“I’m a good listener.”

“I’m sure you are.” You end the conversation, not looking at him.

“Well if it feels any better, I’m hoping to gain a friend here. I don’t want to be a new kid on the first day of school.”

You laugh at his logic, “But you are a new kid, silly.”

“Still, I’d want to be your friend. I hate being alone.” He gives you a pout, beginning to look like a child.

“Ditto Suho.”

“Hey after you’re done do you want to show me around this city? You know, since that’s what friends do.”

“Of course, I’d be glad to. We can go get dinner afterwards too.”

You begin to take a sip of your water but Suho’s next sentence surprises you enough to spit it back out.

“Great, it’ll be our first date!”

A/N: This might be my worst and shortest one yet. Oh god I'm sorry. Anyways, this was literally written in like 10 minutes so forgive any awkward sentences/typos, etc. I'm seriously running out of ideas and it surprises me that so far I haven't gotten any requests....Oh well.
