It had been a whirlwind of a day. 

Zhang Yixing was now the official boyfriend of Wu Yifan, his high-school-long crush, and he couldn't be happier. It now meant that he had to avoid Sehun and his friends everywhere he went but he thought that he could trust Yifan to look after him so he didn't really think anything of it. Even though things between Yixing and Yifan were official, they still couldn't tell anyone at school. It was very dangerous. Yixing started to care even less about his reputation but since Yifan had stood up for him against his friends, if word got out that he was gay...he didn't even want to think about it. 

Yifan had walked Yixing home after they had to run to the form room and get their stuff in risk of being seen by either Sehun, Luhan or Minseok. Each little word and phrase they spoke to each other felt like a completely different experience to anything they had experienced before. Every so often, Yifan would sling an arm around Yixing's shoulder or ruffle his hair and this would make Yixing's feelings grow even stronger towards Yifan even though they had only met a couple of days ago. The way that Yifan seemed to cherish him was so comforting and Yixing felt more at home in Yifan's arms than he had ever felt. 

Both boys arrived at Yixing's flat's door too soon. 

"Give me your phone" Yifan demanded while holding out his hand. Yixing obediently handed over his phone. After a few clicks his phone was handed back to him. "Call me." Yifan bent down to give Yixing a small kiss on his lips before winking and turning away and heading his own way home. 

Yixing watched as his boyfriend walked away and couldn't help feeling a little tinge in his heart. But he turned and unlocked his door to find Yujin staring at him from the couch.

Yifan was giddily jumping up the stairs to his flat when he found a figure waiting at his door. 

"Yo! I was wondering when you would get here." Tao was stood, leaning against Yifan's door, showing off his wide grin. "I've been trying to call you." Yifan quickly took out his phone from his pocket to find 5 missed calls and 7 texts all from Tao. None from Yixing. 

"Sorry.." Yifan tucked his phone back in his pocket to unlock his door and let his friend inside. 

"Why are you coming back so late?" Tao asked as he headed to the kitchen to help himself to whatever was in the fridge. 

"Just took a walk" Yifan answered as he chucked himself on the couch in front of the TV. 

"In your uniform?" Tao had returned from the kitchen with a box filled with Yifan's leftovers from the night before and sat on the couch next to Yifan. 

"Am I not allowed to take a walk?" Yifan sounded more agitated than he should have and turned to Tao to give him an annoyed look. And just as Tao was about to bite back, Yifan's phone buzzed. He quickly grabbed his phone and his anger disappeared as he received a text from currently, the most important person in his life, Yixing.

It's Yixing. I'm sorry I couldn't wait long > <

Yifan beamed and replied quickly.

Can I see you again this weekend?

Name the time and place and I'll be there. 

Before Yifan had a chance to reply his phone was snatched from him and Tao was reading his messages. 

"Who the hell is Yixing? And why does he have hearts next to his name? Meeting up again? Do you want to tell me what's going on?" Tao looked between Yifan and his phone in horror and worry. 

"Look...I really like this guy...I want things to go right this time" Yifan looked sincere and heartbroken at the same time and Tao couldn't help but feel sorry for him. 

Yifan and Tao had been best friends for so many years that it was becoming apparent that they knew almost everything about each other. When they weren't hanging out at school, they would often meet up to play video games or watch a couple of movies. Tao knew that Yifan liked guys. Tao had been the first and few people that he had told. Tao didn't even know who he shared this information with but he knew that things must be really hard on Yifan when he tries so desperately hard to fit in. 

"Is this Yixing from school? Piano nerd?" Tao asked while handing Yifan back his phone. 

"Yeah...but promise you won't tell anyone?" Yifan was pleading with everything he had. 

"Have I told anyone anything yet?" Tao remarked with a classic smirk. Yifan laughed and smiled, thankful of his best friend. 

"I guess not" Yifan sighed and turned back to his phone and replying to Yixing's text.

Yifan kept looking down at his phone every couple of seconds to be surprised at how much their heart war had grown and he couldn't help but laugh like a small child. He couldn't wait to see Yixing again and that was at school tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, and then he could see him on Saturday. The mere thought of him had Yifan's heart fluttering like a butterfly and all his worries fly out of the window. 

Tao could only stare at each and every one of his best friends reactions as he fell deeper into love with this guy. He was happy for him. Why wouldn't he be? 

After a couple of hours in front of the TV, the text conversation between Yixing and Yifan had died down because of their increasing tiredness as each were beginning to doze between texts. Yifan had turned to lay on the couch with his head on the armrest while Tao had just flung his head back on the couch. 

Tao didn't want to leave, he wanted to get to know Yixing more but his plan had completely failed because he had ended up watching the teleshopping channel for over 6 hours straight and he himself was confused as to how it happened. Maybe he was just desperate for attention, maybe because he had always been one of Yifan's few friends. Yixing was getting very close very quickly and Tao was wary of him. But Tao wanted Yifan to be happy more than anything else. 

Tao woke up on Yifan's couch at about 3am and found Yifan still sleeping beside him, having not let go of his phone. Tao smiled at his sleeping figure and went to Yifan's bedroom to pick up a blanket and then he laid it over him to prevent him getting cold during the night. Tao then put his leftovers box back in the kitchen and left as quietly as possible.

"What was that?" Yujin looked furious as she stood up and tried to stare daggers through her brother. 

"What was what?" Yixing looked as innocent with his jaw hanging open looking like a little fish who had just been caught. 

"Explain to me why Wu Yifan just kissed you outside our door? I happened to turn to see where you were and there you were, kissing the person I love! What's going on between you two?" Yixing wanted to open his mouth to explain but his sister didn't give him a chance. "You knew that I wanted to be with him, but you had to put yourself before others didn't you? You promised me that you would tell me about him, not be with him!" Yujin was screaming at him now, the tears forming in her eyes and streaming down her cheeks. "You knew full well, you knew! And you promised me Yixing! It may not have seemed a lot to you but I loved him when I first set eyes on him and you think you can come in and just take him away from me? I love him so much Yixing! I don't stop thinking about him, everything purpose is fuelled by him. But you wouldn't understand that, would you? 

Yixing cracked. 

"Yes! Yes I would understand that! I've been in love for Yifan for years now! He was my reason for going to school and trying hard, he was the only reason I had for anything. I'm so in love with him that I don't know what to do with myself! My life was made a misery by his friends, but he helped me and he took care of me and he said sorry. I looked at him from afar even though I was right next to him, I was so close that I could feel his breath but I couldn't touch him! He was just out of my reach. B-but, he looks after me. I forgive him. And I love him." Yixing walked towards his sister so he was inches from her face. "And I'm not prepared to give him to you, however much you want him." Yixing was slamming the door to his room as he heard his sister slam the front door. 

Yixing knew that he should feel guilty towards his sister, but he didn't want to. His dreams had come true and he wasn't going to pass them over to someone else and that was that. Yixing felt strangely empowered and wanted to just scream from the rooftops, or preferably, give Yifan a hug. But he couldn't. So he settled for a text instead.

Yixing felt like an idiot sending such a soppy text and regretted it the moment he pressed the "Send" button. He didn't want to sound clingy and desperate, actually this was one of the last things he wanted to do. But what's done is done.

Yixing bit back his giggle and started to reply. The more he thought about it, the prouder he was of his own decision to be selfish. It was not very often that Yixing felt this way but he honestly wanted to feel good about himself. And he wanted to feel every single one of those things with Wu Yifan.
