Monkey Business
Infinite PowerSunggyu and his now party of six were now traveling fifteen miles to a town where Sungyeol, Woohyun's friend was waiting. Woohyun had explained that Sungyeol was something of a genius in constructing weapons. So eventhough the change would mean going in the opposite direction of the capital and traveling another fifteen miles to get back onto the capital trail, Sunggyu felt it was worth it.
The evening sky had darkened to night and the team had settled down to sleep in the forest away from the road. Dongwoo sat with his back against a tree and took first watch. They were more careful now as they were nearing a town and Empire soldiers were more common. Though his always happy personality may fool strangers, Dongwoo was once Captain of the capital police. Added with his understanding of Sunggyu and the members trust, he was unofficially accepted as second in command. He knew the mission to defeat the Empire was going to cost them dearly. But he felt that it was more important than ever to be joyful because of that. A heavy heart was not going to win them battles. I hope they know that, thought Dongwoo, as he looked around at the now slumbering team members until he reached Woohyun.
Eventhough Woohyun had agreed to join the team, Dongwoo could see he was still wary of Sunggyu. It seemed that he hadn't fully accepted Sunggyu as someone who can lead them to victory against the Sunset Empire. Woohyun followed Sunggyu's directions during their journey but Dongwoo knew from the way Woohyun spoke at the tavern about his plans that Woohyun was as dominant as Sunggyu. It was going to come to a head sooner or later. He just hoped that he would be there when it happened before they hurt or worse killed each other.
A day later the team had arrived in the town. Woohyun led them to a small warehouse situated away from the busier streets. Sounds of machinery and running water emanated from the warehouse. There were also various chemical smells. It was altogether a little unpleasant. "Sungyeol had to setup a soap factory as a cover for what he really does. Wait a bit I'll talk to him." said Woohyun as he walked inside. Five minutes later he opened the door. "Okay, you can come in now. Come through to the back. And do not touch anything!"
The team held their breath and filed in. Inside was a most complicated connection of bubbling pots, connecting pipes and machinery pressing and cutting square shaped soaps of different colors and sizes. Another machine made up of what seemed to be mechanical arms was busy wrapping the cut soaps in matching colored paper with labels. "Banana Bliss" said one label while another "Raspberry Regards". Sunggyu started to have misgivings, was there really a genius at the back or a mad clown?
They passed through another door and came into a room that was completely different from the front. Well arranged shelves lined three walls while a large rectangular table stood at the center of the room. What caught the team's eye were the weapons in most of the shelves. They had never seen guns shaped like that or knives with such strange blades and peculiar looking gadgets. "This is Sungyeol." Woohyun pointed at the direction of the furthest wall. There was a desk with a chair facing the wall. The chair turned and the team gasped. Hoya sputtered "Sungyeol is a monkey?" There was a small monkey grinning at them from the desk chair. "No, that's his pet. Sungyeol is on the wall. Look up." They looked up the wall and they saw a tall man using flat metal pieces to climb up the wall. The man turned his head and looked at them. He gave a gummy smile.
"Greetings. I'm Sungyeol. Welcome to my home."
