fallacy XIV
fallacyDays have passed since Soojung’s last encounter with Jinri. Some people are on Jinri’s side and they give Soojung judging stares or whispering things between them—which Soojung think they really need to define the word ‘whisper’ again because they aren’t whispering, they’re actually talking. Some people are just being neutral and give her encouragement and saying it isn’t really her fault because love is love, and it needs only two to play the game.
Soojung doesn’t really care. She knows people talk behind her back all this time and she’s immuned to that long time ago. When she thinks that maybe they’re not that bad, they prove her wrong. But there’re still people that are just nice—for not throwing hate on her, and for that, she couldn’t thank them enough. And so she smiles to them, and they say that she should smile more often, and not just around Myungsoo.
When she’s doing fine, there’s a person that keeps worrying over her, thinking that she’s hiding her real emotion from him, when no secrets should happen between the two of them. Soojung heaves a deep sigh, putting down the piece of puzzle in her hand to the floor and looks up.
“Will you stop staring at me already?” Soojung says through gritted teeth and dramatically rolls her eyes. Receiving no reaction from him, she reaches out and pushing his head down to the puzzle again, only to have him look up and stare at her again.
“Why did you bring this here when it’s only me who’s trying to complete the picture?” Soojung complains as she looks for the puzzle piece that fits to the ones she’s done—alone.
Looking at the frown she has between her brows and that nags non-stop, he softens and chuckles, reaching out to put the strand of hair that falls to the side of her face behind her ear.
“You okay?” he asks, leaning in and finally helps her with the puzzle.
Soojung knows what he meant by that, and even though she receives the same question all over again for the past few days that she’s almost bored, she nods anyway. It feels nice to know that people are concerned about you, and to have that now, she doesn’t want to complain or sigh over that. And so she nods and smiles.
“Do I look like I’m not okay?” she asks.
He shrugs. “Knowing you for almost half a year now, you’re pretty good in faking emotions.” He says, worry is evident in his eyes. It actually worries him very much because people are talking about her instead of Jinri or him. He thinks it’s just unfair that she receives all when the one who involves is him, Soojung and Jinri.
“What makes you say that?”
He grins, liking the fact that she asks the question that he’s looking forward for her to ask him. “Because I know you like me since the day we met at the café, and yet you distanced yourself from me and said that you didn’t want to see me again.” He says in a teasing tone as he pokes her cheek. “Can’t believe you like me that fast.”
She backs away, pushing his hand from her face. “I didn’t like you that fast. Please get your fact straight. It’s you who likes me first.” She replies with a glare. “I don’t give people things for nothing, huh?” she mocks.
He laughs. “It’s me who likes you first, yes, what I’m saying is I can’t believe you like me too in such a short time.” he’s still laughing and even her glare can’t stop him from doing so. “I know you’ll fall for me eventually, I just don’t know it’ll be like a month? Two months? But it’s alright, I like it that it fast.”
She sends him a disbelief look. “You’re still full of yourself.”
“Confidence is beautiful, you know?”
“I know, but it sounds gay when it comes out from you.”
Myungsoo narrows his eyes towards her but smiles seconds later. “Are you really okay?” he asks again. He feels like doing it every second in every day because he wants her to know and remember that he’s always there for her. And he means it—because he cares and not just curious.
She sighs, looking up and cups his face in both of her hands. “I’m fine. I’m okay. I’m alright.” She says, squishing his cheeks and she thinks she’s just lucky to have this… happiness. “So will you stop worrying over me and help me with this instead because it’s you who wants to play this at the first place.”
“And you actually believe that I’m really here to play this?” he asks, raising his eyebrows. “I just want to spend time with you.”
Soojung shrugs, looking at him with a look like he’s an idiot. “I know. I just pretend not to.”
He laughs, pulling her towards him by the neck and left a kiss on h
