Prologue

"Yo Kai!" Sehun slammed his hands onto Kai's shoulders, scaring the crap out of him. Looking so incredibly guilty, Kai quickly cleared his throat and picked at some imaginary lint on his blue school jumper, as he tried to pretend he hadn't just been caught doing something he shouldn't have.

But Sehun wasn't fooled at all. Peering out of the window he quickly spotted a third year girls' PE class playing soccer outside, "Wow. Are you a stalker?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Kai moved away from the window, hoping against hope that his friend would follow him, "isn't it stuffy here? I thought we could use some fresh air."

Sehun didn't look convinced at all, "It's winter."

"Spring starts in two weeks," Kai insisted, "anyway, why are you here?"

"Now now, do I need an excuse to come see my stalker-of-a-best-friend?" Sehun flung his arm around Kai, "I came to deliver some amazing news!" 

Kai opened his mouth to try and deliver a smart- remark but resisted, it would be more painless if he just listened to what Sehun had to say, "What is it?"

"Remember how you completely flunked English?"

Kai slapped his hand quickly over Sehun's mouth and dragged him out into the hallway. While it wasn't important to him that he and Sehun were the most popular guys in their grade, he still somewhat cared that people would think that he was an idiot.

"Quickly, say what you need to say before I'm tempted to kill you," he sent his best friend his best death glare.

"Well the bad news is that you have to earn the extra credits by attending after school english classes."

Kai groaned. Great, this was just perfect. Now he wouldn't be able to attend dance club for however long it took and that would mean that he wouldn't be able to see....her.

"BUT... " Sehun's mouth widened into a grin, "Guess who else failed and has to take those classes with you??"

Part One: Fantastic

  'So you're going to be my study partner, Kai-ya?' completey lacking any sense of grace that she was known for on the dance floor, Hyoyeon flung her bag on the table and pushed back a chair with her foot. Without really waiting for a response she rummaged through her bag and pulled out two milk boxes and slid one across the table to Kai. Strawberry flavoured milk of course.   'What's this?' he asked, knowing full well that they were milk boxes... but he just. Couldn't. Deal.   He was actually here in front of his crush and she had just given him a gift.   'How are we supposed to study on empty stomachs?' she grinned at him and not for the first time, Kai thought of how much he adored the eye smile that turned her eyes into lopsided slits. You're so damn cute!!!   He resisted the urge to yell that at her though, because he knew she would probably run away.   'Kim Hyoyeon, why am I not suprised to see you here?' Emma, the exasperated english teacher interrupted, before Kai could formulate a resonse to Hyoyeon's question, 'Kai, you I'm more surprised about.'   Kai felt a sense of relief. While they were both here for the same reason, looking like a total fool in front of your crush was definitely taking it too far.   But Hyoyeon didn't take it to heart, her grin widening instead, 'So what do we have to do, seon-saeng-nim?'   'You have after school classes for the next three days, so work through this list of 30 words and write them into sentences. After that you have to write a poem using at least five words each. You have your dictionaries?'   Both Kai and Hyoyeon tapped their books in response.   'Ok, I'll leave you to it then,' placing two copies of the word lists in front of them, she disappeared.   'Fantastic!' Hyoyeon exclaimed at the first word, 'well that one's going to be easy -- do you think she's a VIP too?'   'Too? So you're a fan huh?' Kai caught onto the word and .    'What can I say,' she didn't deny it, instead resting her chin on her palm all dreamy eyed, 'I like the way Taeyang-oppa dances!'   Kai didn't even have the opportunity to be jealous because she quickly took her phone and played Taeyang's "I need a girl".
