Tabi!!
Chasing Hurricanes“Ryu! I think that was one of our biggest hits yet!” Taeyang exclaimed letting the money run through his hands, excited grin on his face.
“Give me that before you lose it!” CL argued snatching the money back and stashing it in one of her pockets. Taeyang eyed her for a minute but decided to just ignore the other girl, for now.
“I know right? Let’s give a big hand to our lookout, Daesung! Without him we would have been in jail a long time ago!” Ryu smiled, pulling the black bandana from and letting it hang around her neck. Daesung scratched the back of his head awkwardly as the crew started to clap.
“Ani. You guys did all the work.”
“You’re right, we did but like she said if we didn’t have a lookout like you, we’d be in jail right now.” GD commented, joining the boys side.
“Hey Ryu! Are you keeping track of all this?” Taeyang questioned from the back. Ryung tilted her head and started counting on her hands before nodding.
“That would be around 35 successful robberies. That’s including the banks, stores and neighborhood homes. Give or take maybe 1 or 2.” She shrugged, a sly grin crossing her face. The crew walked up to her and joined her pace.
“That many already? We’re doing pretty good if you ask me! Never once got caught either.” GD smirked.
“Of course not and we never will be caught either. Let’s head back so Cl can count and split up the money.” Ryung stated. The crew nodded and followed closely behind their leader.
“Oh and Taeyang, how bout you mix us up some drinks once we get back?” Taeyang grinned and opened his mouth to speak, only to find himself being interrupted.
“How bout I mix us some up? Some celebratory shots.” GD smiled throwing his arm around their leaders shoulder. She grinned before poking his stomach.
“Nu-uh. No way. I actually want to remember today when I wake up tomorrow morning.”
“Aish” He mumbled letting his head fall to one side. Ryu shook her head at him. Closing in on an abandoned house they had come to call home, Daesung opened the door.
The place looked abandoned from the outside so it wouldn’t bring any attention to it while the inside looked the exact opposite. The kitchen had been turned halfway into a bar, liquor bottles lining the wall behind the counters. Guns, knives and various other weapons laid practically everywhere and freshly rolled blunts stacked the table in the middle of the front room. Bags of weed were found hidden here and there while CL kept her cigars hidden in the cabinets.
Letting herself fall back onto the couch Ryu grinned, watching Taeyang and GD walk into the half kitchen half bar.
“Hey GD! Think fast.” She yelled picking up a blunt and throwing it his way. The boy smiled as he caught it. CL grabbed a cigar out of the drawer next to the couch and lit it, passing the lighter around the room from Ryu to GD.
“So, what are we doing tomorrow Ryu?” CL questioned the girl beside her, inhaling the smoke from the cigar and slowly exhaling it again, watching it go up and then slowly disappear into the air. Ryu leaned back, twirling a blunt in her fingers, smiling.
“I don’t know about you guys but I’m feelin lucky. How bout we hit that place on top of that hill outside of town?”
“The one with the rich old lady? Doesn’t she live alone too?” Taeyang piped up from his seat at the bar, chugging down a drink. He grinned as he slammed the glass back onto the table. Ryu nodded.
“Are we gonna kill her or does this one get to live?” Daesung questioned next. Ryu stared at the boy, taking a puff of the blunt. She shrugged.
“Well see if I feel trigger happy tomorrow or not. Maybe she’ll live, maybe she’ll die.”
Airplanes soared through the sky all day and night, careless and free.
“Seunghyun hyung! You haven’t changed a bit.” A male voice exclaimed walking up to the older boy. A smile crossed Top’s face as he gave the younger a hug.
“Seungri! It’s been too long! How are you?” The younger pulled away and smiled.
“Good. Everything’s good here. I hope the same goes for you?”
Top nodded at him and watched as Seungri grabbed the few bags the older had sitting beside him.
“Let’s get going then. You wanted to see your grandmother first, right?” Seungri questioned, making his way toward the front door. Top trailed behind, his mind somehow wandering off again, thinking about everything he wanted to do while he was here.
“Tabi!!!!”
His head shot up and he froze in place. Did he just hear what he thought he did or…..was it just his imagination playing cruel tricks on him?
“Top, are you okay?” The younger questioned, stopping long enough for Top to catch up with him. He nodded once.
“Say Seungri. Can I ask you something?” He whispered. Seungri eyed him for a moment in confusion but nodded.
“You….remember Ryung right? How is she?” He mumbled. He had no right to ask about her after leaving her there to fend for herself. He didn’t really care if Seungri were to say that she hated him now. That she moved on, completely forgetting about him along the way. That she never wanted to see him again. He would be fine with all of those answers, as long as she was doing okay he would be fine.
Seungri slowed his pace, his head turning toward the floor. Top followed suit and slowed his pace, nervous. Something wasn’t right.
“Seungri….”
“I’m sorry hyung….” Top’s heart started to race and his eyes widened as Seungri started to mumble through his teeth.
“Sorry? Sorry for what? Is she okay?!”
“I haven’t heard from her since middle school. She stopped talking to me all together really, and started hanging out with some kids after school each day. I didn’t know them, didn’t think it would be a good idea to hang around them. They looked like bad news but she wouldn’t listen. She hung around them more and more. Her attitude changed after a while and when I didn’t fit in with her new group...she dropped me. I really don’t know where or how she is.”
Letting those words run through his mind, Top blankly followed Seungri for a few minutes before finally speaking.
“Middle School….” He mumbled without realizing how low his voice sounded. Seungri turned to look at the boy and found a blankness in his eyes. As if everything and nothing ran through the young boys mind at once. Seungri threw his arm around the olders shoulder, making him snap out of his thoughts to look up at his friend.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure she’s fine. She’s tougher than you think.”
Top nodded a little, his mind still racing.
“I really hope you’re right. I just hope she hasn’t gotten into too much trouble.”
