The Rest of Tuesday
Thursday NightsJaejoong didn’t go to work like he planned to. He went straight home instead. He slammed the door behind him and saw Soo Yun’s shoes by the doorway. She was home. He quickly took off his own shoes and made his way to the bedroom.
Immediately once he entered, he saw her shut the drawer—her drawer—the one that he couldn’t open the other night. Soo Yun, startled by the sudden entrance of Jaejoong, locked the drawer at once and shoved the key into the pocket of her jacket.
She cleared . “You’re home early.”
Jaejoong couldn’t contain all the anger and sadness anymore and said, “Why?”
Confusion painted her face. “What?”
“Why?” he whispered again, sadness taking over the majority of the emotions as tears filled his eyes.
“Jae—“
“Why did you do it!?” he shouted suddenly, bringing the room into silence afterwards. Soo Yun stared hard at him. Confusion still clear in her eyes but her face became defensive. “I know what you did,” he chuckled and looked down, hiding his face as a tear fell. “Is that why that night you had an abortion clinic card with you?” he sniffed and hastily wiped his tears away. “You took away what could’ve been the best thing ever for the both of us.” Jaejoong looked back up to see that she was too crying. Soo Yun finally understood why he was reacting this way.
“I didn’t want you to know,” she shook her head and sobbed. She covered her face and sat on the bed, losing the strength to stand.
“Why?” he said again, staring at her as she wiped her eyes delicately.
“Because of this!” She gestured to the both of them. “Because of us!”
Jaejoong sighed and plopped next to her on the bed as she tried to control her emotions. “When was this?” he whispered when she finally got her tears down and was sniffling.
“Do you remember the first night we spent together after we began the Thursday nights?” Jaejoong nodded. It had been a Sunday and the day after, Soo Yun had told him the news of Bomi getting engaged. “Well, I think it was that night that I conceived the baby.”
Jaejoong’s mind was on pause, it felt like years ago since that happened. “How many weeks were you,” he asked, fearing the answer as Soo Yun looked away.
“I was very near a month.”
He in a deep breath and closed his eyes. A month. She had been pregnant for at least a month and he didn’t know. He didn’t see any signs. “And you didn’t think to tell me at all?” Sadness was gone, and the anger took over.
“It was my decision.”
“For sakes, Soo Yun!” He stood up and looked down on her. “Why is it always your decision? Why can’t we talk about it for once?” he screamed.
His anger mirrored to her and she, too, shot up. “I don’t need to hear this,” she said angrily and walked towards the door, but he yanked her back.
“No, you don’t get to leave until I’m done.”
“Jaejoong, let go,” she said as gently as she could, but he only held her wrist tighter.
“What went through your head when you decided to abort our child? Did someone manage to convince you to do it? Did you hate me that much to—“
“Because it’s my fault!” she screamed, finally tugging her hand out of his loose hold. “It’s all my fault, from the very beginning! I started this whole stup
