Classes ended and started. After our class, Gongchan and I went to our house. When I went home, my mom left a note that she's 

going to her friend's house. I placed back the note where I found it. Gongchan sat on our couch. 

"Where's your umma?" he asked as he was looking at the things in our house

"She's at her friend's house" I replied as I went to the kitchen to get snacks

I placed the two burgers and two iced tea on the table. I went upstairs to get the things for our English project. We cut some pictures

from the magazines as a background for our project. While we were cutting the pictures and placing it on the illustration board. I was 

eating the burger. Gongchan was busy cutting the pictures. He did not eat his burger.

"Yah! Eat the burger. It's yours" I said as I took a part from my burger

"Okay" he said as he was pasting the pictures on the illustration board

I sighed and placed the burger on the table. I hepled in him pasting the pictures. While he was busy cutting the pictures, I kept

on looking at him. He's hardworking. He did not even eat his burger because he made first our project. I smiled at him while he

was not looking at me and helped him. After we made our project, we sat on the couch. He ate his burger and drank the iced tea

I made. I was looking at him while he was eating the burger. He looked at the frame that was placed behind him. 

"Is this your umma?" he asked as he got the frame

"Mmm.." I nodded

"Your umma is pretty" he placed back the frame

Someone opened the door and I saw my umma walking towards me. I stood up and Gongchan stood up when he saw my mom walking

towards us. My mom smiled at me and smiled at Gongchan. 

"Annyeong" Gongchan bowed 90 degrees

My mom smiled at him as a response. I made some hand signals telling her that we're already done with our project. Gongchan was 

surprised looking at us while doing the hand signals. I think he already knows that my mom is mute. My mom went inside her room.

His eyes went huge

"Is your mom mute?" he lowered down his voice

I nodded

"Good for you. Your umma can't nag at you" he pouted

"Your lucky because your umma can speak. While my umma can't. I'm longing to hear her voice" I said as I bowed down

"It's okay. You're lucky even though your umma is like that. I can see that she really loves you and cares for you. What about

your appa?"

"My appa left us when I was young" 

"Mianhe for mentioning your appa"

"It's okay. He's now with her wife"

He nodded. He looked at the clock and went back looking at me.

"I'm going home now" he said as he stood up

"Have a dinner with us" I said as I stood up

"Aniya. Gomawo by the way. I'll be going home now" he smiled at went out 

I sighed and kept all the things that we used in our projects. While I was placing the dishes in the sink, I saw a note at the top

of our refrigerator. I got the note and read it. It was written a year ago. The doctor wrote that my mom has a leukemia and she

has a few days left. As I was reading the note, tears started to fall from my eyes. That's why when I saw my mom a while ago,

she looks pale. Someone got the note from my hands. I turned around and saw my mom. 

"Why did you not tell me earlier that you have leukemia! Umma! I don't know what to do if you're no longer with me! I don't know where 

to stay! Umma! Aish!" I exclaimed

Tears started to fall from her eyes. I was going to go to my room until she grabbed my wrist. I got my wrist away from her grip. I went to my

room and cried. I was writing my diary. I wrote about what happened while Gongchan and I made our project and how did I know that

my mom had a leukemia. I kept on crying. She was knocking at my door. 

"I'm not going to eat! I'm still full!" 

I heard her footsteps going away from my room. Anytime of this week or this month, my mom would die. And I don't know where to

live. My life without my umma is so different. There's no one who is going to love me and care for me as her only daughter. I'm going to 

loose my only umma in this world someday.
