Conflicting Loyalties
"Is it possible to maintain conflicting loyalties?" Mr.Yang's psychology lesson seemed to pinpoint my exact quandaries. Somehow, that prompt coerced me to acknowledge Sehun's affinity toward dating nine different girls at a time. I trudged to lunch with that question still ringing in my mind. Usually, Hana would zip to the lunch line right as the bell rang, but sensing my despondence, she decided to accompany me as we entered the overcrowded cafeteria. "Dude, get over Sehun. I bit on my lip with the suspension. Luhan briefly blinked and didn't even miss a beat as he responded, "In a world where even sons deceive fathers for faustian business positions, I can certainly assert that, no; it is not possible to have conflicting loyalties." I held my breath, anticipating his answer. His honesty really was quite unexpected. Luhan continued, "Take the characters in The Kite Runner novel by Khaled Hosseini, for example. Amir and Hassan are best friends, despite the fact that the former is from an affluent noble family and the latter is a lowly servant for the other's household. Due to this, Amir holds an albatross around his neck of incessant weighing of whether he should continue his lifelong friendship with Hassan in public- which would evoke
