Sequel to (5) Pain: Close your eyes

Happiness

Where are you and what are you doing?
You haven’t forgotten me, have you?
What if the smallest memories disappear from me?
Will this fearful heart reach you?

This street that I used to walk with you
Now I’ll get used to it
As if nothing happened to me

On the day we meet again
I won’t let go of your hands
Stay by my side so we won’t grow apart ever again

When I close my eyes
I see your turned back with tears
I send it off to the wind as my heart aches and my throat dries
My heart endlessly grows smaller as I can only watch you from afar

~Close your eyes- Woohyun

Sequel to (5) Pain: Close your eyes

Warning: Angst, angst and more angst.

A/N: Idk if this story even make sense as I wasn't in the right mind when I wrote this. Omg. So sorry if it turns out horrible.

"Sometimes, it hurts more dreaming than facing the reality. In dreams, you were with me, so close, so real. But, when I open my eyes, you disappear into nothing. My dreams gave me false hope. It pains me more when I realize that you're never coming back."

Woohyun looked into the mirror. He doesn't recognize who was the person in the reflection. The person in the mirror wasn't him. The unshaven man with sunken cheeks, dark eye bags and a look of loss, regret and guilt wasn't him- it can't be him. What had happened to the confident man- the perfect man everyone admired disappeared to? Nothing seems to make sense; nothing seems to matter. The reflection just showed the pathetic side of him- thrown into an absolute mess. That numb feeling in his heart, he was broken, utterly broken.

"I learned to cook. I don't cook food that I like to eat but I whip up food that you love. It's a stupid thinking that I have- perhaps when you decide to return, you would have a proper meal. That was one promise that I have failed to fulfil. The food never reaches my mouth though. It pains me too much to know you're not coming back."

All of a sudden, Woohyun’s vision was blurred. It was only then he realized he was tearing up. Looking into the mirror again, it reflected a certain small eyed caramel haired man. The pretty caramel haired man gave him a pretty smile, causing his heart to ram against his chest rapidly. However, the pretty smile on his face didn't last long before his eyes started quavering in fear. The small eyed man started shaking in fear- looking right into Woohyun's dark orbs with a frightened look on his face. No, Gyu, why are you so scared? Woohyun wanted to scream out loud, but the lump in his throat stopped him from shouting.

"I have the exact fear as the children who I have used to mock- nightmares. It's hard to run away when you have nightmares. At least for a child, they have their parents by their side to calm them down. Their parents could convince their child that the nightmares were not real. However, my nightmare was a memory. It was real, it did happened. And that was what scares me the most. Your frightened eyes- the look of hurt and fear. I could never forget that in my life."

The caramel's fearful look on his face slowly turned into sadness. Tears started streaming down the small eyes as Woohyun tried to reach his hands out towards him. However, the caramel haired man jerked back in fear, crying nonstop. When Woohyun looked at the caramel haired male's terrified expression, it broke his heart. Please, No, Gyu... The dark haired man caressed the cold transparent surface softly, as if he was touching the caramel haired man. Woohyun's vision started getting blurrier as more tears formed in his eyes. At that moment, he pathetically wishes that the caramel haired man would hug him tightly and comfort him. When he wiped off the tears which were blocking his vision, Sunggyu disappeared. The searing pain in his chest was back once again as he punched the mirror in front of him in agony.

"They talked about the broken man. The man who used to have everything, but ended up with nothing. The man who was proud to be a gay but yet his partner left him. They mocked him- how pathetic, what a , disgusting. They whispered without a thought. They say how he was a drunkard and even drove his partner away.  Some of them even said they expected this to happen. Gyu, did you have expected this to happen too? I guess not, because if you did, you wouldn't have waited for me at home every day- even when you're very tired."

Dark red blood flowed out from Woohyun's hands, staining the mirror. The pain that he felt on his knuckles was nothing as compared to the pain he felt in his chest. Looking at the broken mirror, he laughed humorlessly to himself. Nam Woohyun, why are you so pathetic? Woohyun couldn't control as his empty and choked laughter turned into sorrowful sobbing. Nam Woohyun, you deserve the pain. After all, you broke your promise and make his life miserable. Now that you have lost him, you have lost your world.

"He called me today. He told me he saw in one of the cafes down the street. I needed to find you even if you are going to ignore me- even if you're going to hate me. Even if you're going to give me a good beating, I was going to accept all of it. I needed to see you. I needed to apologize to you. I needed to tell you how much you mean to me. I needed to tell you how horrible it has been without you. I needed to tell you how much I needed you. So, I ran as fast as I could to seek for my light."

Everything that was on Woohyun's mind was Sunggyu and the location of the cafe. He was not going to lose Sunggyu now. This might just be his last chance. He forced his feet to run faster. However, his wobbly legs remained at the same speed. He could only blame himself for not eating anything he had cooked. There! He spotted the cafe and ran forward. It happened too suddenly. He could see the blinding lights from his right side with a loud sharp honking sound. There was a high pitched screeching sound of the black tires before he jolted up and turned his head to look at the right side.

"Just a goodbye. Please god.  Please let me bade a proper goodbye. At least let me whisper a goodbye."

Woohyun never thought he would die from an accident. He has always been a careful person since young. But now, he felt pain all over his body. He didn't have the strength to even open his eyes. Regret. He felt regret when his life was about to be over. He didn't even say what he wanted to the pretty caramel haired man before he had to leave. It wasn't fair, he thought. If he had the energy to chuckle, he would have laughed at his pathetic state and how stupid he had been throughout his life.

Darkness was all he could see. This was it, the dark haired man thought as flashbacks flashed through his head. Now, the pain seemed to gotten worse and he thought it was his retribution for hurting Sunggyu. Even at his worst state, all he could think of was the caramel haired man and his adorable eye smiles. Woohyun decided his time was up when he started hearing the voice of his angel- he heard Sunggyu's cries and screams. Then, Woohyun felt nothing as he embraced the darkness and rest assured that Sunggyu would be better without him.

"Goodbye to the one I love the most. You, who had accepted everything of me- the good and bad. The one I promised to protect but failed. The one who have trusted me and yet I let you down. Maybe in another life, if I was lucky enough to have you again, I would not break my promise. I would be there to treasure you, hold you close to me and love you as much as you deserve."

Sunggyu was sipping on this chocolate milkshake while thinking of the past. He remembered how this cafe used to be their favorite cafe. The milkshakes were amazing and he would always whine to Woohyun to bring him here. "But, you just had it yesterday!" He chuckled when he remembered what Woohyun said to him once when he was so hooked on getting the milkshakes that he wanted to drink it every day. Nevertheless, Woohyun would get him a milkshake just to satisfy him. However, his heart felt a tug and a slight sore when he recalled that there were times there would be milkshakes on his table when he was awake. Perhaps, Woohyun had not forgotten everything about him. The question that he tried his best to get it out of his head pops out in his mind once again. Hyun, are you living well now?

The sudden sharp screech caught everyone's attention. Everyone turned their head towards the window of the cafe as they heard a loud crash that came along. Sunggyu eyes squinted to see what had happened outside the cafe, causing a huge commotion. A few people in the cafe sitting near the windows of the cafe let out audible gasps as they stared out of the windows. The cafe was filled with murmurings about the serious accident that happened outside the cafe. Sunggyu's eyes twitched and he had a bad feeling. "Sir, here's your dark chocolate muffin," The waitress said and was stopped by Sunggyu when she was about to walk away. "What happened outside?" Sunggyu asked curiously.

"An accident happened. It's so horrible. I heard from the barista that he was someone quite famous. What was his name again?" The waitress replied as she tapped on her chin lightly. "Oh! Nam Woohyun! The Nam Corporation CEO's son who confessed to the whole nation that-," Before the waitress could complete her sentence, Sunggyu rushed out of the cafe.

Sunggyu froze when he saw Woohyun lying on the floor lifelessly with a pool of dark red blood surrounding him, seeping through the rough road. No, no, no! Sunggyu thought in his head as he pushed his way through the crowd towards Woohyun. "Woohyun! Hyun!!" Sunggyu shouted as he shook the lifeless body repeatedly. Woohyun didn't wake up; he didn't even look like he was breathing. Sunggyu could feel tears welling up his eyes as his vision blurred. Someone tried to pull him as he fought the stranger’s hands off him. He sobbed bitterly as the paramedics carried the bodied dark haired man away. He looked at his hands. It was filled with Woohyun's dark red blood. Sunggyu choked on his tears as he stared blankly at his bloodstained hands. One of the medics brought him up into the ambulance where Woohyun was inside.

"His heart stopped," One of the paramedics claimed as they started preparing for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation. When Sunggyu heard those words that the paramedic had said, he broke down into incessant tears. No, don't take him away from me. Please, no, Hyun don't go… Sunggyu begged as he clenched his fingers together tightly and prayed. I promise I would stay by you, so please don’t leave me. Why Hyun? You're never this careless.

"What happens if I were to die?" Woohyun asked simply, tilting his head slightly. "Why are you spouting rubbish again?" Sunggyu frowned as he slaps the back of his boyfriend's head. "Gyuuuuu, why are you avoiding my question?" Woohyun whined as he tugged on Sunggyu’s sleeves. "Aish, why am I together with a child?" Sunggyu shook his head. "Let's go get milkshake!" Sunggyu announced, changing the subject successfully when he saw his boyfriend pouting.

"We just had milkshake yesterday!" Woohyun replied as he rolled his eyes dramatically. "Hyun, pleeeeaasseee?" Sunggyu pouted cutely as he showed his finger up to indicate one last time. Of course Woohyun knew it was far from one last time. Woohyun couldn't resist his boyfriend's cuteness as he agreed. Sunggyu then did a happy dance and Woohyun just laughed at his childish acts. "Aish, why am I together with a child?" Woohyun shook his head as he mimicked what Sunggyu had done earlier.

Sunggyu hated hospitals. Well, everyone hated the hospitals, don't they? Hospital was the place which brings and ends life. Memories that Sunggyu had with Woohyun started flooded in his mind. It was sad, really sad that Sunggyu only focused on how much pain he went through and he had left Woohyun all alone when he had enough of all the pain. He had forgotten to spare a thought of how hard it has been on Woohyun. Woohyun definitely had it even worse than he did. He was born in the most ideal family condition but yet he had given everything up for Sunggyu- who had left him like it was nothing.

Sunggyu knew Woohyun regretted his actions. He met up with many of Woohyun's friends who told him how much Woohyun misses him, how badly Woohyun was doing without him, how much Woohyun was suffering without him. But, Sunggyu decided that Woohyun should live without him, it was better that way- well at least that's what Sunggyu thinks. Sunggyu received letters- handwritten letters from Woohyun to be exact. Sunggyu doesn't open any of them- he was afraid that his heart would bring him back to Woohyun's side. Now Sunggyu could only regret, he had many chances to savage their relationship, to meet him, but he shunned away. He was scared, terrified. He didn't want to face Woohyun, not after he had left- after promising him that he would never leave him.

"He had lose too much blood and needs a blood transfer," The doctor said to the depressed caramel haired man. The caramel haired man looked up, looking extremely worried. Sunggyu knew that his blood type was different from Woohyun's and his parents don’t want any contact with him ever since the day he had destroyed the whole Nam Corporation's reputation. Feeling helpless he could only cry as his hands scrolled through the numbers on his phone. Now, only this person might help him. He dialed the unfamiliar number anxiously. Sunggyu doesn't remember what he had said to him. All Sunggyu knows was that when he was on the phone, he was crying half of the time.

The man with the perfect features, clad in black suit arrived quickly. It was Sunggyu first time seeing an emotion portrayed by the usual stoic faced man. The man was actually worried. Sunggyu begged him to help as the man rushed to see the doctor immediately. After an hour had passed by, the man came out, with his hands bandaged, the doctor next to him. "His condition is stabilized for now. However, he had received many serious fractures from the accident. He would need to stay in the hospital to recover." The doctor said and walked off quickly.

Sunggyu thanked the doctor and the man in suit. "Thank you so much! I don't know, I just, I...I" Sunggyu started sobbing terribly while the man just stood there silently. "Take care of him," The cold looking man muttered causing Sunggyu to look up, sniffling. "...hupphmm....hahhh....." Sunggyu was unable to speak as he was crying too badly. "Woohyun called me recently. I was so surprised after all it was the first time he called after he had left...." The man's perfect features softened as he continued his sentence. "I thought he regretted. I thought he wanted another chance. But, I was wrong. He told me how miserable he was and that he had hurt the one he had loves the most. That was when I figured out, he never intend to come back home. He just needed you and he would be fine." The man in suit eyes seemed to look watery for a second. "Give him another chance, he never meant any harm. You should know him well enough." With the last statement said, the man walked away, leaving the echoes of the soft clicks of his leather black shoes.

"Gyu, promise me you won't leave me?"
"I won’t leave you as long as you're by my side"
"Promise me that you won't leave me"
"Hyun, I promise"

Everything was a blur. Woohyun couldn't figure out what was happening. All he could see was darkness and feel pain. He struggled to get out but he was stuck. He couldn't move. Woohyun was too weak. He wanted to give up once and he heard muffled voices. "....he had lost too much blood....his heartbeat is unstable....I'm losing him.....call his family member....." But, Woohyun figured out that he would die soon. No one would come for him, not his friends, not his family or even Sunggyu. Woohyun had lost everything and all he wants to do now is to start over. He promises to be a better person, a better child, a better friend and a better lover.

Isn't it easy to give up when you had nothing left? But, Woohyun was lost. He heard more voices, clearer voices. ".....found someone.....family member.....start now...." Had they found someone? They must have mistaken. Woohyun had left home, he had broken ties with his family, he didn't even called back home except for that one time when he was drunk. That patient must not be me; it was definitely the wrong patient. ".....someone had called his brother....." Brother? Myungsoo? His brother's name sounds so foreign and it reminded him of Sunggyu.

Did Sunggyu know that he was dying? Would the caramel haired man even care after all that he had done to him? Suddenly, his mind was in a haze and there was a sudden glow of light in front of him. The lights started brightening the whole place. Does it mean that he was going to die once the bright light reaches him? No, he couldn't. He can't die. Not now....Not before he have apologized to Sunggyu. With the last strength Woohyun had, he struggled to run away from the burst of lights. Still, he didn't manage to escape and was into the brightness.

"Take care of him"
"I had never doubt you until now. You love him right?"
"Isn't that why he insisted in living and being with you?"
"Isn't that the reason he fought with his friends and family?"
"He's just like a child"
"All he wanted was to be with you"
"I thought he would be fine"
"After all, he only needed you”

“He only had you and that was enough"
"He loves you more than anyone, including himself"

Myungsoo's words broke Sunggyu's heart as he was reminded by the memories he had with Woohyun. The cold hard truth was slap on his face. His heart hurts so much he wondered if Woohyun had felt it when he had left. He had promised not to leave Woohyun and yet he had been the one who had left him. Despite the mean and harsh attitude Woohyun had towards the caramel haired man, he never once threaten to leave the older. Woohyun had never been a person who was easy to understand. Everyone who knew him always think he was mean, arrogant and cold hearted. Only Sunggyu knew that under that façade, he was a sensitive guy who had built a layer of protection over himself.

Of course Sunggyu knew- Sunggyu definitely knew that side of Woohyun. After all, it was the reason why he had fallen in love with Woohyun. But, Sunggyu left. The older knew perfectly that he had left Woohyun because it was too tough holding onto a relationship. He had failed the younger. He had promised him that even if the world leaves him, he wouldn't. But, Sunggyu left. Even Myungsoo knew that fragile side of his brother. It wouldn't take a genius to figure out that Sunggyu was actually the one who had failed Woohyun.

Yes, Myungsoo was right. Woohyun had hurt Sunggyu unintentionally. However, Sunggyu left despite knowing that Woohyun had never meant any of it. He was just using that as an excuse to deny his deep doubt on Woohyun's love for him. Sunggyu doubted their relationship first. It was Sunggyu who was the one who had walked away and given up on the whole relationship.

Sunggyu was the one playing the good guy in front of Woohyun all along and yet Woohyun believed that he was the one who had destroyed his own relationship. In fact, Sunggyu was the culprit who ended their relationship. Tears flowed down his cheeks non-stop as he cried pitifully. The regret and guilt was written all over his face as he sunk down onto the floor and cried hysterically.

Myungsoo knew. But, Sunggyu didn’t know. The simple fact that all along Woohyun had been loving Sunggyu so much. Sunggyu had always thought that he was one who loves Woohyun more than he did. The caramel haired man had only realized how selfish and stupid he had been. Sunggyu was a horrible person. He was the one who had pushed Woohyun to the brink of insanity. He was the reason why Woohyun was lying on the hospital bed. Sunggyu was the reason why Nam Woohyun had lost everything and was dying inside.

Woohyun’s eyes slowly opened and he blinked a couple of times due to the sudden brightness. The first thing he felt was a heavy weight on top of him. It was Sunggyu sobbing like a child on top of him. Woohyun calmed the crying older down by him gently and hushing him down softly. “Shhhh….Gyu why are you crying? Don’t cry….I’m not dead,” Woohyun murmured softly. Sunggyu failed to reply as he cried even harder. “Gyu, I’m sorry for hurting you, please forgive me,” Woohyun whispered as he continued comforting the sobbing man.

Sunggyu shook his head furiously. “I-I’m the-e bad-d per-rson,” Sunggyu took a deep breath before continuing his sentence. “I pr-romis-sed not-t to l-leave and yet I-” Woohyun could no longer stand hearing Sunggyu’s cries as he silenced the caramel haired man by hugging him tight. “Shhhh…If anyone is at fault, it was me. I have hurt you first. I had broken our promise too. So, stop crying, Gyu,” Woohyun replied as he kissed the older’s cheeks. Sunggyu just couldn’t stop crying as he snuggled closer towards Woohyun- missing his touch.

The caramel haired man wanted to change everything. No, he shook his head. This will not be the end. Sunggyu didn’t want to lose Woohyun anymore. He wanted Woohyun to stay by his side again. Just like that, it was the start of the whole new relationship.

This time round, things were different. Promises were fulfilled as they treasured and appreciated each other more for fear that they will lose each other. The wounds they had received were slowly healing as the scars were slowly fading. The past was slowly forgotten as they look forward to what they had. Their relationship was full of compromising. It was perfect and they wouldn’t dare to ask for more.

A/N: Here’s a suppppperrrrr looooonggggg (and overdued) sequel which I have promised to post when I’m done. So yeap here, I’m FINALLY done!!! I had a really hard time writing this since internship had been really tiring & stressful. I hope I have not disappointed you guys with my horrible sequel.I apologise again for the long time taken to write this sequel and yet its horrible. :/ And yes the amount of Angst is a killer. Sorry.

You can finally see the story of both sides. JUST IN CASE YOU DON’T GET THE MAIN POINT OF THE STORY: Yes, Sunggyu did hurt Woohyun and broke his promise. Even if it might not be seen as a big deal, tbvh, I wanted to portray that in relationship, both sides would hurt and apparently in this story, I planned that Sunggyu was actually the one who had hurt Woohyun more. (yes, Woohyun was mean & harsh and even accidentally pushed Gyu) HOWEVER, Sunggyu gave up on them both but yet Woohyun held on for so long despite the rough times. So, in this story, Gyu had given up on the relationship first because he left (not fully because he felt he was mistreated but that he had lost faith in the relationship- he doubted the relationship he had). It's just a twist in the story when Woohyun happened to be the weaker one in the story. IDEK IF I MAKE SENSE BUT YEAP. YAY IF YOU UNDERSTOOD BUT NAY TO ME AS A WRITER IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND (it’s my fault not yours) hehehehe. Sorry for the abrupt ending and not proofread sequel. Alright! So, please leave a comment on what you think of this sequel.

Sorry for the angst but I hope you enjoyed this sequel (since I almost died writing it and idek what am I writing anymore)

Thank you all for your support! <3

P/S: my Angels and Demons reader, I will take some time to update the story. Been really busy....Sorry....I might be hiatus until my internship is over.
