One Shot (10): Intriguing

Happiness

Your nervous face,
I can read what you’re thinking,
Your deep sighs,
your laugh that’s about to shatter,
I can feel it, I know.

Don’t listen to anything,

don’t think about anything,
I am going to you right now,
Why make things complicated when things are so good?

No matter what anyone says,

I don’t care,

Don’t let something like this situation drag you around,
So protect your heart because if you lose it here,
You will regret it and I will go back,
All we need to do is just start.

One Shot (10): Intriguing

Intriguing. That's what Woohyun thought about the new kid in his class. His flaming red hair catches everyone's attention- he tries hiding it though, under the black beanie that fitted him perfectly. The way his plain white shirt blended into his pale skin, hanging onto his body like second skin.

The way he chuckles softly- his small adorable eye disappears into small slits. The clear laughter he produced resemblance to a child’s cute laughter. One of his most attractive features was his cute and narrowed eyes. The dark brown eyes that hides behind his black rimmed glasses timidly. Not forgetting his creamy white hands, his fingers were slender and long- perfect to play the piano.

There's just something intriguing about the new kid in his class that Woohyun can't get his mind off him- it actually irritates him to no end. It doesn’t make any sense to him. He was Nam Woohyun- no one gets the attention of him.  He never finds anyone interesting, fascinating or intriguing.

"Hey, you done staring- you're freaking me out," Hoya nudges Woohyun as he whispers next to him. "At least make it less obvious," Hoya said and starting laughing loudly when he saw Woohyun's annoyed expression. "I'm not staring," Woohyun gritted his teeth. "Yeah sure and dance isn't my favorite thing ever," Hoya replied, rolling his eyes.

"But, I must say he's pretty cute right?" Hoya asked and Woohyun stared at him warningly. "Alright, Alright," Hoya said, putting his hands up in the air- as if he were surrendering. "Geesh, chill, lover boy," Hoya muttered under his breath and Woohyun shot him a death glare.

Sunggyu could feel his skin crawling; he knew someone was staring at him. Well, of course, he did. He shifted awkwardly, feeling extremely uncomfortable and conscious with the stare that was piercing through his soul. He didn't understand why that person was giving him such deathly stares.

He doesn’t remember offending anyone in the school. All he wanted to do was to graduate and leave the school silently- was it so hard to do that? The last thing he wanted was unwanted attention from anyone- especially not the captain of the soccer team.

"Maybe you should talk to him," Hoya mumbled, while writing down the corrections that the math teacher had written on the board. "What?" Woohyun asked, quirking an eyebrow. "The new kid, Sungju or something," Hoya said as he continued staring attentively at the black board.

"Sunggyu," Woohyun corrected Hoya. Hoya stopped looking at the board and turned to Woohyun, staring at him with raised eyebrows. "What? Why are you staring at me like that?" Woohyun asked as he saw Hoya smirking at him. "You're so whipped man," Hoya said as he ducks the punch that Woohyun aimed against his chest.

The awkward atmosphere hangs in the air thickly until someone clears his throat. "Erm....so what are we just going to bask in this awkwardness or start discussing?" Sungyeol, a lanky boy asked, while as he started fidgeting. "He's right," Someone replied softly- Woohyun recognized the boy to be Myungsoo, one of the members in the media club.

"Shall we spilt the work then?" Sunggyu spoke with his lovely voice, sending shivers down Woohyun's spine. They decided to draw lots to choose what their work would be. The group was supposed to do a skit. There will be two pairs, one pair will do the writing of script and the other pair will do the acting.

Writing. The black wriggly handwriting scribbled across the small piece of white paper. Woohyun groaned loudly when he saw his part for the project they had. Writing? Nam Woohyun hated writing and can never be a scriptwriter for god's sake.

"So...What did you guys got? I've got acting!" The lanky man squeaks excitedly and the rest of the group just stares at him uninterested. "I....got acting," The quiet voice spoke softly and Sungyeol hang his arms around the quiet boy's shoulders, grinning widely.

The writing pair just stared at each other blankly and awkwardly, not sure how to react to their partners. "Alright, this awkwardness is killing me. So, I shall take my leave," Sungyeol croaked as he dragged his partner away. "Uh...so..." The male tried to break the awkwardness, but his stuttering seemed to worsen the atmosphere.

"Just so you know I'm a terrible writer," Woohyun said as he continued to look at the stuttering other. "I can just write everything," The male chuckled awkwardly and shifted his eyes. "That wouldn't be fair," Woohyun argued back. The quiet boy looked back at Woohyun with amused eyes. Well, in fact, Woohyun was also surprised by his own words. Nam Woohyun was never considerate- wasn't he?

"I know you don't like me, so it's best I just complete the writing myself," The boy answers straightforwardly and Woohyun was now annoyed by his know-it-all assumptions. "Look, Sunggyu, I was just trying to help," The angry tone in Woohyun's voice caught Sunggyu's attention as he looked into his eyes- to receive a piercing glare.

Woohyun's face was darkened with anger. Seriously, what was the problem with that captain of soccer team? Sunggyu was nice enough to do everything for him, why can't he just leave him alone? "Have you thought that maybe I don't need your help?" The red head grabbed his bag off the table and walked off.

"Hoya, I swear he is the biggest ever," Woohyun complained as he slumped on the couch in their dorm. Hoya chuckled as he stared at his roommate, feeling amused. "What?!" Woohyun exclaimed exasperatedly. Hoya started bursting to laughter, despite the deathly stare he had received from the dark haired boy.

"You sound like one of those bimbos in the American shows," Hoya said as he wiped his tears off his eyes. "You're seriously the worst best friend ever," The dark haired boy said as he stomped off angrily. Hoya leaned against the couch, a smile hanging off his lips. Hoya shook his head softly as he stares at the empty hallway. Nam Woohyun, you're so whipped.....

Woohyun proved to be stubborn as he continued to bug the red head continuously until Sunggyu gave up- promising to give him half of the workload. The dark haired man pumped his fists in the air. However, he stopped his actions immediately when a thought entered his mind.

Why am I so happy when I have work to do? Unable to understand himself, he shook off that random thought and went to changing room. Soccer would definitely keep his head away from stupid thoughts that have been forming in his head once the new kid came to his school.

Sunggyu decided that his favorite seat in the class was the one at the end of the classroom, right next to the window pane. He loves to see beyond the classroom, where everything feels way more human and alive. The red head stared outside the classroom and spotted a group of boys playing soccer.

The group of them seemed to be training for the next interschool competition. His eyes wandered off searching for a particular person. Within seconds, he spotted the boy with dark jet black hair. The boy was wearing a damp shirt that clung to his body with sweat trickling down his temples.

Something about that boy shinned when he played soccer. The dark haired boy was no longer the annoying brat but one of those cool kids that played soccer perfectly. The red head quickly turns away when he felt his heart slammed against his heart. What the hell was that? Sunggyu slaps his face softly, determined to pull himself together.

"Wow, you're on streak today! Did you get a hot chick number or something?" Dongwoo, one of the soccer player exclaimed. "I'm sure our Woohyun doesn't need a hot chick," Hoya teased as he sends him a smirk. Woohyun glared at Hoya, when he heard what his roommate had said. Dongwoo looked at both of his teammates questioningly. However, Dongwoo ran off when he heard the coach calling him.

"So Woohyun, you got the new kid's number?" Hoya asked cheekily. "Shut up," Woohyun hits Hoya with the wet towel which the other dodged it easily. Hoya roared into laughter while Woohyun head-locked him. Sunggyu stared the happy scene right in the center of the green field. Trying to ignore the prickling sensation in his heart, he rolled his eyes, looking away from the duo.

Shall we meet today? The bright neon words reflected back at Sunggyu. No, I'm not free today. Sunggyu breathes in deeply and pressed the sent button. The red head presses his head onto the table, feeling slightly annoyed. He just doesn't want to see Woohyun. Things became even worse ever since he saw the captain of the soccer team being cozy with his team mate. He just didn't want to face the annoying captain.

Sunggyu doesn't know why that scene keeps replaying in his mind and also the image of Woohyun grinning widely. He hated it- those feelings which kept crawling back into his heart. Was he crazy? Why does his heart falls a little whenever he sees Woohyun close to another person? Sighing deeply, he lifted his head and looked at the clear window pane out of habit. He spotted that particular black haired boy walking across the field.

The black haired boy seemed to be looking at his phone. Sunggyu’s heart clenches a little when he saw the drop of excitement across Woohyun's face and replaced by a disappointed look. Just then, his phone vibrated. Okay. He received a simple reply from the black haired boy. At that moment, he wondered if he was the one who had put such a sad expression on Woohyun's face.

A loud slam on the door caused Hoya to jerk up in shock. He looked at the door and spotted his grumpy roommate. "Dude, did you just get rejected or something?" Hoya said as he rubbed his palms on his chest, calming himself down from the shock. The black haired boy sent the other a death glare which immediately shut his roommate up.

Hoya could sense that this time round Woohyun was really mad. "Hey....What's wrong?" Hoya asked, tilting his head. Woohyun shakes his head and shrugged in reply, walking into his room with a sad expression. This was the first time he had actually seen Woohyun so upset. Hoya sighed deeply and shook his head. "Aish! These two idiots!" Hoya groaned as he ruffled his hair in frustration.

Sunggyu finds it weird when he spots a rather familiar face outside his classroom. He walked away normally but was blocked by the brunet. He started feeling annoyed once he saw the brunet's face. Sunggyu stared at the brunet warningly.

"Let's talk," The brunet spoke calmly. Even though Sunggyu couldn’t understand what the brunet had with him, he just nodded his head. "So....." Sunggyu broke the silence as he looked at the bunet. "Woohyun....he isn't good at expressing himself," The brunet said as he looked at the vast sky blue skies.

Sunggyu looked at the brunet questioningly. "Sunggyu, right?" The brunet asked as he turned towards the red head. "It wouldn't hurt to be nicer to Woohyun...." The brunet said as he smiled at the other. "Even though he might act like a total sometimes, but he is really sensitive," The brunet continued.

The red head just stares back at him, feeling confused why the brunet was talking about Woohyun. Sunggyu raised an eyebrow and stared at the brunet. That was when the brunet felt slightly stupid and realized that he had not introduced himself.

"Oh I'm sorry! I have forgotten to introduce myself- I'm Hoya," Hoya smiles and extended his hands towards the red head. Sunggyu looked at the other’s sincere eyes and shook his hands firmly. "I'm Woohyun best friend, roommate and also from the school's soccer team," Hoya grinned as he introduced himself to the red head.

Sunggyu tilted his head in confusion. "Right, I might sound like a total crazy person just now, but trust me, I meant whatever I said," Hoya tried explaining to the puzzled red head. "Aish, how do I put it?!" Hoya groaned in frustration as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Look, I think he's an idiot….But, at the same time, I thought since you are smarter, you would understand the fact earlier," Hoya said straightforwardly. Woohyun was so going to kill him for talking to the red head- especially about him. "He hates me," Sunggyu answered the frustrated brunet.

"Are you crazy? Have you seen the way he stayed up late at night to write? I mean seriously, when did Woohyun even start to write?! I didn’t even know he knows how to hold a pen! And let’s not talk about the way he stares at you creepily-” Hoya gasped as he realized he blurted out his best friend crazy obsession with the red head.

Sunggyu just looked at the blabbering brunet, shocked. Woohyun stayed up late at night to write? He was being serious about this whole thing? The red head felt like a total jerk for rejecting the meet-ups that Woohyun had initiated. "Uhhh..Just give him a chance," Hoya said and started walking away, mumbling to himself how stupid everyone was.

Maybe, just maybe the red head should give the dark haired male a chance. Feeling absolutely nervous, he took out his phone and started typing. Hey, do you wanna meet tonight? His thumb hovered over the send button and pressed it immediately before he had a second thought. What have I just done? Sunggyu stares blankly at the glowing black words of 'message sent'

Sunggyu got a reply almost immediately. Sure, tonight 7 at my place. He then received a next message which was Woohyun’s address. Sighing deeply, he ran his hands through his hair and groaned, flapping his arms in annoyance. He didn't know he had been treating the black haired male so horribly.

That night, the red head arrived in front of a huge house. Who was he kidding? It wasn't a house- it's a ing mansion. Why the does the dark haired boy still stay in the tiny school dorm? Feeling intimidated by the size of the huge mansion, he breathed in deeply and pressed the doorbell.

The gates opened automatically as the red head moved backwards slightly in shock. Sunggyu walked to the door of the mansion as he looked around the mansion. There was a huge swimming pool- big enough for at least ten people and a huge garden. He looked around the mansion in amazement- it was his first time looking at such a huge house.

The red head spotted the head of the soccer team leaning against the door of the huge mansion. However, he noticed that there was something wrong with the captain. He had a red nose similar to Rudolph’s, his eyes were droopy and his cheeks were slightly reddish in color. The black haired boy looks extremely tired, behaving opposite of how he was normally.

“Hey,” Sunggyu said awkwardly staring at the other. “Hello!” Woohyun greeted happily as his eyes lit up when he saw the red head and grinned widely- forgetting all about his tiredness. “Come in!” The black haired boy said, leading the other into his house. Sunggyu nodded his head and entered the huge mansion, trailing behind the captain.

To his surprise, the whole house was empty and very quiet - too quiet for his liking. There was no sign of any servants in the house. The interior of the house was very classy and emits an air of elegance. Sunggyu only stopped gawking at the huge mansion after he noticed the staring of the other.

The red head started blushing when he realized how stupid he looked like in front of the captain. Instead of mocking Sunggyu, the black haired boy just smiled warmly back at him and sat on the leather couch. The captain beckoned the red head to sit next to him, and Sunggyu just complied.

The red head sat next to the other as he continued looking around the house. All of a sudden, he felt a weight on top of his left shoulder. Shocked by the sudden light weight, he turned his head to look at his shoulders. Sunggyu sees a tired Woohyun nuzzling against his neck, sending shivers down his spine.

The red head’s heart rammed against his chest at Woohyun’s sudden closeness. Sunggyu shifted slightly, as he tried to move away from the black haired boy. However, a hold at his waist stopped his movement. The captain looked up at Sunggyu, showing his face.

At that moment, the red head’s heart seemed to have stopped. Woohyun was crying- his reddened and moist eyes, staring at Sunggyu sadly. Contradicting to his tears, he was smiling weakly. “Please,” This was the first time the red head had heard the strong headed male begged. “Don’t move away….” Woohyun mumbled softly.

“Please….Just let me stay like this for a while,” The black haired boy muttered as he tightened his grip on Sunggyu’s waist. For some reason, it hurt the red head to see the other in such a broken state. Sunggyu wonders what had happened to the captain. Feeling worried and the urge to comfort the other, he his back softly.

The black haired boy clung onto Sunggyu when he felt the soft on his back. “W-Woohyun,” Sunggyu called out the captain’s name. Woohyun refused to budge as he continued snuggling against the crook of the red head’s neck. This was the first time Sunggyu had been so close to someone. The red head was shocked at the way he had reacted to the black haired boy. He would probably have kicked the person off him if it wasn’t the captain.

Sunggyu felt the extremely warmness that radiated from the other. The red head cursed inwardly when he realized that the other was actually having a fever. He presses his hands against Woohyun’s forehead and he knew he was right when he felt the captain burning up. “You’re sick!” The red head pulls apart from the other and looked at him worriedly.

“It doesn’t matter,” The captain continued hugging the red head. “Are you crazy? Why didn’t you said earlier? You should have rejected my meet up then? Why are you so dumb? Let me go, I will go get Panadol right now-” Sunggyu started blabbering and Woohyun just smiled at him weakly.

“I was so happy- so so so happy when you asked me to meet you….I must have forced you too hard because I know how much you hate me,” Woohyun said as tears streamed down his face. That was when it hit Sunggyu- Woohyun liked him, and yet he had been nothing but mean to the other. “I-I-I-” Sunggyu stuttered but was cut in by the captain. “Shhhh, it’s fine,” Woohyun said as he placed a finger on top of the red head’s lips.

“No! It’s not! You’re sprouting rubbish! Who said I hated you?” Sunggyu exclaimed, pushing Woohyun’s finger away from his lips. “You were the one that hated me!” Sunggyu replied as he looked down onto the leather couch, avoiding Woohyun’s eyes. “T-That’s not true! Where did you even get that idea from?” The captain’s eyes widened at such accusation. “I-I like you!” The black haired boy stuttered as he looked at the red head.

Sunggyu only realized how dumb both of them were when the other confessed. No wonder Hoya had been pissed with both of them. They were really stupid- ignorant and clueless about each other’s feelings they had for each other. It could be their ego or pride that was stopping them.

However, in the end, they both realized how dumb they were to ignore the feelings they had for each other as they continued on with their assumptions of the other’s feelings against them. No words were exchanged after the captain confessed and their lips crashes- the initial reason of the meet up was totally forgotten.

They held each other tightly and they kissed passionately- as if it was the last day on earth. When they pulled apart, the black haired boy grinned widely at the red head. Sunggyu couldn’t stand how stupid the other looked like and punched his chest lightly. The captain groaned in pain and the red head immediately looked back at Woohyun worriedly.

“Are you alright?!” Sunggyu asked, as he leaned closer to the black haired boy. “No, it hurts!” Woohyun wrapped his hands on his chest and the red head pried the captain’s hands away to see if he had hurt the other badly. The red head gasped loudly as he was encompassed into a tight hug.

“Caught you!” Woohyun whispers in a deep voice next to Sunggyu’s ears as the red head squeaked. The black haired boy refused to move away from the red head no matter how many times Sunggyu had tried to push the other away. Instead, the black haired boy tightened his hold on the adorable red head.

“You’re still sick! Let me go! I will go get-” Before the red head could finish his sentence, Woohyun plants a kiss on his lips. The captain smiled at the other cheekily. Sunggyu frowned and tried squirming away. Woohyun continued holding onto him firmly and smiling brightly at the red head. The captain was just staring at how endearing the red head was.

“Stop it,” Sunggyu said as he tried to stop Woohyun’s act. “But, you’re too adorable,” The captain said as he continued kissing the other. The red head started to blush crimson red as he duck his head down. Remembering the fact that the captain was unwell, Sunggyu gave a serious glare at Woohyun. The black haired boy continued staring at the other, taking in all the red head’s attractive features slowly.

“Don’t worry,” Woohyun replied as he flashed a broad grin at the red head. “I have taken my medicine,” Woohyun said as he pulled the red head back into a hug and breathed in deeply. “My medicine is you,” The captain said and earned a slap on his back by the other who grimaced at his cheesy words. Woohyun groaned and rubbed his back gently when he felt the sharp pain from the slap he had received.

The next day, they went to school, hand in hand, ignoring all the weird stares from everyone. Hoya gave his disgusted stare at his best friend when Woohyun smiled to himself pathetically for the entire lesson. “Stop it!” Hoya yelled furiously, punching the captain’s shoulders. “Stop what?” Woohyun asked staring at his roommate. “Staring at your boyfriend and smiling to yourself like a ing creep,” Hoya grimaced in disgust at Woohyun’s act.

“You’re just jealous,” Woohyun replied as he stuck out his tongue. “This is such a disgrace that the captain of the soccer team is lovesick and had turned so disgustingly cheesy,” Hoya said sadly as he shook his head disapprovingly. “I’m not a disgrace!” Woohyun yelled at his best friend, frowning at what Hoya had said. His sudden yelling had caught his boyfriend’s attention as Sunggyu turned back to see the black haired boy.

When Woohyun noticed his boyfriend staring at him, he started throwing hearts at him. Sunggyu rolled his eyes and turned away immediately, embarrassed by Woohyun's act. “Nam Woohyun, you’re so whipped,” Hoya said as he shook his head. Woohyun ignored what his best friend said as he continued grinning to himself. Throwing away his pride and being the one who confessed to Sunggyu first, was the best decision he ever made in his life. Woohyun loves his adorable boyfriend like crazy and he would never give him up for anyone.
