CHAPTER 13: Double Date (4/4)

He didn’t know why but he enjoyed listening to the kid’s blabber about SaJi.  If all of these stories were true, SaJi must be a weird but wonderful person.

“Yah, noona, did you win over him?”

The two adults looked at each other, knowing that they were thinking of the exact same thing.. which is the experience of their first-ever rollercoaster ride…

SaJi grinned at Yoseob, and perfectly imitated him, ““Yoseob you’re the b— Kyaaaaaaaa!!! UMMA!!! UMMAAAAAAAAA!!!”  she flailed her hands, exaggeratedly. “Umm—”

“Yah, stop that!” Yoseob said, cutting off SaJi while he covered with his hand.

Changsun pointed at Yoseob, “Aha! You lost!” the kid said, laughing at his hyung.

“But she screamed too!” Yoseob pouted, still holding SaJi who was flailing her hands for freedom. He looked at Changsun and tried to explain, “It’s true! She really screa— AHHHH!!”

SaJi bit Yoseob’s hand. Panting, she quickly moved to Changsun’s side, a frown was forming on her forehead as she faced Yoseob, “But you screamed firs—”

“Yah, yah, the loser is the one who would scream while riding it, not who would scream first! That’s the deal.” Yoseob said quickly.

SaJi pursed her lips and nodded unwillingly, “Arasso, arasso. But you still screamed FIRST.”

Yoseob opened his mouth to retort but was interrupted by Changsun, “Ice cream!!! Buy us some ice cream since you screamed first!”

“Mwo?” Yoseob said to the kid. He heard SaJi chortled.

“Pleeeeeaase???” Changsun said, transforming into an innocent and angelic child from the he-devil he was before. The kid had his hands under his chin, copying the cartoon character, Puss in Boots. He was using his best aegyo to get what he wanted. Aish… this kid! No wonder SaJi couldn’t say no to him.

Yoseob tried to look away from the kid’s indomitable charisma, but failed to do so, “Aish.. Arasso, arasso!”

Changsun’s face immediately brightened, he was smiling so wide his eyes were not visible, “Yeyyy! Ice cream! Ice cream!” he hugged Yoseob tightly at the waist and then his legs automatically clung onto Yoseob’s thighs. Yoseob tried to free himself. He was irritated and charmed by the kid at the same time.

SaJi laughed at the two, “Yah, let’s go now, to the ice cream house.” She then turned to leave the two new ‘bestfriends’ behind.

Yoseob looked at the kid, “Yah. Get off me now. I can’t walk! Aish..!” he said while peeling Changsun off of him.

“Aniyoooo… Let’s go there like this please??” Changsun said with puppy eyes while pouting.

“Shiro! I couldn’t even move since you’ve locked your legs around me!”

Changsun then moved to Yoseob’s left side and hanged onto him again, “Now you can walk. Leggo!!!” he said with glee, doing his eye-smile again. Yoseob could not help but feel happy about the kid’s sudden warmth towards him.

He secretly smiled, “Arasso, arasso. Hang in there, Monkey kid.”

SaJi’s POV and 3rd Person’s POV

Aish.. Why are they taking so long to get here? They were just behind me. I sat again in the wooden chair outside the ice cream house. I rested my chin over my hands and sigh. I pursed my lips, Where are th—

Just then I saw Yoseob walking towards me, “Yah, what’s that on your leg?”  I chuckled and leaned back. Althoung Yoseob had a frown on his forehead, it seemed that he was not really annoyed; he actually had his hand at Changsun’s back, clearly not wanting the kid to let go of him. I grinned at them.

“It’s your boyfr—”

“Noona, look! Look! I’m hyung’s left leg!!!” Changsun said beaming. He looked at Yoseob then to me.

Yoseob smiled then shook his head, “Aish… This kid is so stubborn! He wouldn’t get off me.”

SaJi laughed at Yoseob and offered him to sit.

“Yah, Monkey Kid, get off me now, will you? I’m tired.” Yoseob said as he walked to the chair, facing SaJi.

“Ne.” Changsun said and got off from Yoseob. However, the moment Yoseob sat down and before he could pull the chair towards the table, Changsun quickly sat on his lap.

“Aish, what no—”

Changsun held his face with both hands, “Hyung! Me wants chocolate ice cream! With marshmallows and gummy bears!”

SaJi was laughing while she stood up, “I’ll get it.” She turned to Yoseob, “What do you want?”

“Cookie’s ‘n Cream flavor for me.” He then handed her the money.

 SaJi then walked inside the ice cream store to get their orders.

Yoseob then tapped his fingers to the table as they waited.  Something caught Changsun’s attention, “Oh! You have SaJi noona on your pinky!” he reached  for Yoseob’s right hand and looked at his pinky.

“Mwo?” Yoseob said as he looked at his own pinky too.

Changsun pointed at Yoseob’s pinky, “This ring! This is SaJi noona! SaJi noona is Psyduck! Haha!” he said grinning.

Yoseob laughed and asked why. “Because noona is weird but really cute!” Yoseob stared at the ring and his mind drifted off somewhere…

                “Aww… Yeobo, this really suits you! ”

                “Mwo? This is Psyduck, Yeobo. It’s the weirdest pokemon!”

                She pinched my cheeks lightly and giggled, “That’s why this ring suits you because you’re weirdly cute!”

“Hyung! Hyung! You shouldn’t do that… Listen to meeee…”

He abruptly looked back at Changsun, “Aigoo…  that’s how you describe your girlfriend?”

“Ne!” Changsun said as he nodded. “Did you know that her favorite color is orange?”

“How did you know that? Did she tell you?” Yoseob asked.

He shook his head, “Aniyo. I just know because she chose to ride the orange rotating cup.”

Yoseob chuckled at the kid’s reply.  

“It’s true! And she didn’t know how to swim.” the kid nodded, clearly engrossed about his ‘observations.’

“Kuraeyo? And how did you know that?”

“Noona refused to ride the Swan ride where we would pedal that swan-boat in the water. It’s because she couldn’t swim.”

“She told you that she couldn’t swim?” Yoseob asked then raised one eyebrow.

“Aniyo. I just know.” He smiled at him. Yoseob chuckled and ruffled the kid’s hair.

“And did you know that,” Changsun held up his one finger, “she loooooves cheese?”

“She ordered cheese burger and cheese fries earlier. She also bought cheese flavored popcorn.” He explained.

Yoseob couldn’t help but wonder if the kid was saying the truth. Changsun kept on telling him facts and stories about his ‘SaJi noona’. He didn’t know why but he enjoyed listening to the kid’s blabber about SaJi.  If all of these stories were true, SaJi must be a weird but wonderful person. No wonder Changsun liked her…He smiled at that thought.

He looked up from Changsun and saw SaJi holding a tray with their orders. She smiled a little and quickened her pace. There and then, he knew why his friends acted that way when they first met SaJi at the grill shop. Okay, I’ll give her that, the hobbit is kinda… pretty. He couldn’t help but smile at her, too.

She put the tray down on their table, sighed, and sat down, “I’m sorry it took so long for me to get your orders. The line is soooo long!”

Yoseob shook his head, “Aniyo, gwenchana.”

“Yaaaay!!! Gummy bears and marshmallows!” Changsun squealed in delight as he reached for his food. SaJi handed him his ice cream, gummies, and marshmallows. She then turned to Yoseob and gave him his Cookie’s ‘n Cream ice cream.  Yoseob said his thanks but then, “Hyung! Look! That’s the Psyduck ring I bought for noona! It’s our couple ring!” the kid held his hand out and pointed to his Pikachu ring.

Yoseob caught SaJi looking at his Psyduck ring. He quickly hid his hand under the table. He then heard her laughed as she shook her head, “How dare you called Psyduck pathetic when you’re wearing a Psyduck ring too!”

“At least I’m not wearing a Psyduck beanie.” Yoseob mockingly said.

“That’s our couple beanies, hyung..” Changsun butted in as he bit the heart-shaped marshmallows into two. Yoseob noticed this and so he picked one of the other halfs, but the kid quickly got it back from him, “Hyung! These are for my girlfriend! You shouldn’t do that.”

Yoseob looked at SaJi and saw her smiling as she watched the kid bit the remaining heart-shaped marshmallows, “Yah, Monkey Kid, how about me? Aren’t gonna give me any of these?”

Changsun turned to look at him, “I’ll give you half the gummy bears, hyung!” he said smilingly to him. He then opened the cups where the gummy bears are, Yoseob picked up one, but the kid immediately took it from him, “Hyung, not yet.”

“I do this first,” he then bit off the gummy bear’s head, “mine’s the head hyung, here’s yours” he pushed the gummy bear’s body to Yoseob’s slightly opened mouth.

SaJi’s grin turned in to a laugh, “Aigoo… You two are soooo sweeeet! Hahaha—!”  Yoseob threw a half heart-shaped marshmallow into her opened mouth.

“Ya—”

“Three point shot!!” Changsun shouted as he clapped his hands in delight. Yoseob grinned at SaJi who had a frown on her forehead. SaJi shook her head, smiling. “I want to try it too! Me too! Noona—”

SaJi cut off the kid’s rant and threw a marshmallow into his mouth. She laughed and so did Yoseob.

Earlier that day…

Dongwoon’s POV

“Annyonghasaeyo, Ahjussi!” I looked around Mr. Ahn’s restaurant, looking for someone.

“Oh, annyonghasaeyo, Dongwoonie! SaJi just left—”

“A-a-aniyo, ahjussi, I’m not looking for her.” I said as I shook my head. Mr. Ahn just laugh and turned to leave him.

“Ch-chakkaman ahjussi. Uhm… where did she go?”

“She went to the theme park with that kid, Lee Changsun.” He knowingly smiled at me.

I heard Junhyung shouting from outside, “Yah! Son Dongwoon, gaja!”

I bowed to Mr. Ahn and said my goodbyes, “Ahjussi, I’ve to go now. I’ll see you again.”

I went outside and there was Junhyung hyung, leaning on his car. “Dongwoonie, get in the car. We don’t wanna be late.”

“But… I thought Yoseob hyung will also come with us?” I opened the car door and got in to the passenger seat.

Junhyung hyung locked the doors, “He sent me a message, he said he’d go to the theme park.”

He’s at the theme park too? What if…
