Chapter 4

Close Your Eyes

*This is the two chapter combined*
*Sorry for the lack of a real update*

"Suho!" Yixing's sharp voice penetrated Suho's clouded brain. "Suho!"

Suho managed to crawl out from under his covers, rubbing his bleary eyes as he glanced towards the alarm clock. 8:30... On a weekend

"What the hell do you want" he groaned, sitting up and glaring at Yixing through his clouded eyes. "You did not just wake me up this early on a Saturday."

Yixing laughed and Suho wondered how the boy was so excited this early in the morning. How anyone could be this excited at 8:30 in the morning.

"Hyung, you promised" Yixing whined when Suho plopped back down onto his bed, eyes drifting shut.

"Promised what?" Suho snapped back, wanting nothing more than to go back to sleep.

"You said that if I asked Hyorin out, you'd help me get ready for the date!"

"I.. I did." Suho muttered, shaking himself awake with a scowl. "Alright, you baby, you just couldn't get ready by yourself."

"Its no fun getting ready for a date along, Suho, you should know that" Yixing replied cheekily before dragging Suho downstairs still in his pajamas. "Come on, I made breakfast."

"I wouldn't know" Suho muttered but let his friend drag him into the kitchen. He only brightened up when he saw the stacks of pancakes sitting on the plates.

"You've never been on a date before?" Yixing gaped at Suho, "But you're so popular hyung!"

Suho flushed as the attention was suddenly turned towards him. "There was never anyone I liked" he lied easily before digging into the pancakes. "These are really good, Yixing."

"Thanks" Yixing replied, "But, hyung, you've never been on a date?" persistant in his questioning.

"No" Suho snapped back, face flushing. "What of it."

"Nothing, nothing" Yixing recoiled, slightly abashed. "But I'll make sure you go on a date this year! Or next year! This is your junior year in college Suho, aren't you going to have at least one relationship?"

"Maybe, maybe not" Suho shrugged. He didn't want to look at the younger boy. "Since when did you start calling me hyung?"

"Since Sehun started calling Luhan hyung" Yixing shrugged, grabbing a pancake and stuffing it into his own mouth.

"Yixing.. Sehun and Luhan are... more or less dating. And besides, Sehun is a year or two younger than Luhan."

Yixing grinned cheekily at Suho. "I like calling you hyung, is there a problem...hyung?"

Suho sighed in exasperation. "Be thankful I love you" he snapped. "Lets get you dressed for your date."

Yixing just sniggered and cleared the plates away.

Suho could feel a large lump in his throat and he willed it to go away. Much to his annoyance it didn't. He cleared his throat awkwardly. "You look nice, Yixing."

And Yixing did... Suho had dragged the boy into the his room of the apartment they were currently renting together and dug through the closet. To Suho's dismay, Yixing cared nothing for clothes and had nothing suitable to wear, so he did the only logical thing. "Come on, we're going shopping."

They then proceeded to spend the next three hours wandering around the large mall, laughing and chatting, not caring about what others thought about them. Yixing's arm s around Suho's waist halfway through the trip and Suho finally relaxed. It was just like before. He was with his best friend, and Yixing was just his for three short hours.

The finally decided on a pair of black skinny jeans that hugged Yixing's calves perfectly, and a light blue button down polo, and now once they were back in their apartment, Suho realized what a bad idea this was.

Suho realized halfway through his second year of college that he was utterly and completely in love with his best friend. Let me repeat, his best friend.

It was true he was no longer the dorky five year old he had been when he first met Yixing. In fact, through summer vacation going into his second year, he had reached puberty and "grew into a handsome young man" as his grandma put it.

Girls, noticing the sudden change in his appearance flocked to him by the dozen, and it was after one disasterous almost date that Suho realized he had no interest in girls. He was interested in... boys. One boy in particular. His best friend

But he also knew that Yixing was interested in girls. How else could you explain the fact he ranted about Hyorin to Suho every single day the past three months. And now he'd finally done it. Suho really wished he could keep his temper in check sometimes. After all, he basically made Yixing ask Hyorin out, and now he finally did. Being the best friend, he should be supportive, but instead, he just wanted to punch a girl in the face.

And the laws of society deemed it immoral to do so.

Suho swore the whole world was against him.

"How do I look hyung?" Yixing asked, admiring himself in the mirror of Suho's room.

"You look presentable" Suho replied, a strange feeling in his chest.

"Just presentable, hyung?" Yixing teased cheekily. "Not drop dead gorgeous?"

Suho chose to ignore the boy. "Where are you taking her?"

"I'm not taking her anywhere." was the reply he recieved.

"What do you mean?" Suho asked, surprise in his voice. "You've liked her for so long, and you finally asked her out!"

"Hyung, you're so stupid."

"How am I stupid" Suho snapped, but confusion was evident in his voice.

Yixing shook his head in exasperation. "Luhan said this would work, but it didn't." Yixing pouted again, and Suho had to resist the very strong urge to pinch his cheeks.

"Luhan said what would work?"

"Luhan said if I could make you jealous, you'd finally admit you liked me. But I've been fanboying over, what was her name again? Hyorin for the past few months and you still didn't do anything!"

"You.. I... what?"

Yixing scowled darkly, and Suho noticed how hurt Yixing seemed to be. "Or do you not like me hyung? Luhan said you did... And Luhan is never wrong!"

"I? I what? How did Luhan... Wait, what are you?" Suho spluttered, face flushing a dark red.

"So you do like me?" Yixing asked, blinking at Suho hopefully.

"I have no idea what you're talking about" Suho snapped finally taking control of his mouth again. "I don't know what Luhan told you, but its not true."

Inside, Suho was shaking. It was finally his chance to confess to his best friend, but he couldn't. Even though Yixing had been asking about Suho's feelings, Yixing had never once mentioned liking him back. Throwing one last glance back at Yixing, Suho spun around and quickly fled the apartment. He went to the first place he could think of.

"Yeol, I need help."

"What's wrong, hyung?"

"Please don't call me that"

"I've always called you that, Suho..."

"Please? Yeol.... He found out."

"He? As in the guy you've been in love with since forever?"

"It wasn't forever. I didn't even know I liked guys until last year."

"Please, hyu-- Suho, just by seeing the way you look at him, its quite obvious."

"I'm not obvious" Suho pouted, before collapsing on the couch.

"Sure you aren't. Here, I'll go get you a cup of water, then tell me what happened, alright?"

"Alright," Suho replied to the tall boy before he sank back into the couch, cuddling with the pillows.

"You, my dear, are an idiot."

"Stop it" Suho whined pitifully, sticking a spoon of ice cream into his mouth as he did so. "He called me an idiot too, but I don't know why."

"Suho... He tried to make you jealous by fanboying about a girl he didn't even know the name of, just so he could be positive you liked him. I mean, if he didn't like you, do you think he'd do that?"

"This could be one of Luhan's tricks," Suho argued, but he was slowly calming down from his earlier incident. "Besides, Yixing isn't gay."

"Yeah, that's what I thought too..."

"Before you decided you wanted to get into Baekhyun's pants."

"Yah! Hyung, I did not! I'm innocent, I'm pure!" Chanyeol protested, chuckling as he did so.

"Sure, sure...So, what do you think I should do, Yeol?"

"I think you should go back and confess. He basically confessed by telling you all this, and besides, hyung, what could you lose? You've liked him forever, and here's the perfect chance to tell him."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure" Chanyeol replied, rolling his eyes. The tall boy's eyes softened as he saw the nervous twitch of Suho's eye. "You'll do fine, hyung. You're irresistable."

"I'm not," Suho replied rolling his eyes. "And didn't I just tell you not to call me that?"

"Call you what?"

"Hyung, Chanyeol, hyung."

"Yah, Suho, you don't have to call me, hyung! You're older than I am!"

Chanyeol dashed away from Suho's flapping arms, cackling with laughter. "You're an idiot, Chanyeol," Suho shrieked before scooping up another spoonful of ice cream. "Ice cream therapy always works."

"Hyung?"

"Hey, Yixing."

"You're... back?"

"Ermm... I live here?"

"Oh, no! I meant.. I thought... I thought you might not want to live in the same apartment as a gay guy, you know..."

"Why wouldn't I...? I'm gay, Yixing, didn't you already know that?"

"I mean, I know-- wait, what? I thought you,"

"I'm gay, Yixing. Sheesh, you're supposed to be my best friend, get with the program."

"I...I..." Suho laughed as Yixing stuttered, face flushing. He finally managed to calm down his laughter and he pulled Yixing down onto the couch next to him.

"Were you... were you trying to make me jealous of Hyorin because you liked me, Yixing?"

Yixing just stared back at Suho dumbfounded. "Of course, hyung, why else would I do it?"

Suho grinned at his best friend sheepishly. "Well, I kind of like someone, Yixing."

Suho almost went back on his plan as Yixing's face fell. "Oh.. That's alright, hyung... Can I ask who?"

"Of course," Suho grinned smugly. "He's very attractive, he's extremely kind and sweet, and he's got a great sense of humor. He can always make me laugh on a bad day, and he is extremely good with music. He's my best friend."

"Oh..." Yixing muttered humorously. "You like Chanyeol?"

"I like who?"

"Chanyeol?"

"Yah, who's the idiot now? I thought you said you would always be my best friend!"

"Best friend? Wait... hyung, you like me too?"

"Some questions are too stupid for me to answer" Suho announced before getting up off the couch. "Oompf" he cried out as Yixing dragged him down on the couch again.

"Wait, Suho are you serious?" Yixing murmured shyly. "Dude, don't tease me like this. It took me forever to plan all this out, and Luhan was a jackass the whole time."

Suho just chuckled, pulling Yixing closer to him, embracing the younger in a large hug. "Of course I am. You're my best friend."

"So, hyung."

"Mmm?"

"Tell me the truth, alright?"

"Of course?"

"Good... Close your eyes first."

Suho rolled his eyes playfully but complied. As he finished counting to ten, he opened up his eyes to find Yixing standing in the outfit they had shopped for last Saturday.

"How do I look, hyung?"

"You... You look presentable."

"Yah, hyung," Yixing whined, poking Suho's cheek. "The truth!"

"I am telling the truth" Suho retorted cheekily, burrowing his nose into the book.

"Well, I wanted to look great for our first date, but since I only look, 'presentable' I guess not"

"You, what?"

"Oh, so that catches your attention" Yixing pouted.

"Wait, no, you look great."

"Of course I do," Yixing's frown melted away revealing a cheeky grin. "I just wanted to hear you say it."

"You brat" Suho grumbled.

"No, but hyung, didn't you say you've never been on a date?"

"Mmmm..."

"Well, then, lets go!"

"Go where?"

"Our first date of course!"

"Our first... date?"

"Mhmm, hyung, we're such great best friends, we're even having our first dates ever with each other."

"I'm not sure if I just got friendzoned or if you were trying to say..."

"No! I meant, I've never had a date before either.... And we've always done our "firsts" together, right? First soccer game tryouts, first choir rehearsals."

"Yixing, you're... you're just so cute."

"Well, hyung, what I wanted to say was," Yixing sulked, "I think we should be our lasts too. I mean, I'm glad I'm your first... but I also want to be your last."

"I..."

Suho shook his head. Screw words. He walked over to where Yixing was crouched over, pulling his new boyfriend up. "I want that too" he whispered before closing the distance between them.

I want that too.

Chapter 17: This was really good! I think I started reading this back in late May, but I deleted my last account, so I couldn't find this fanfic for some time. I spent so much time looking for it, and I'm so glad I was able to read this again!
I really liked the way you developed Suho and Lay's friendship and eventual romance. (The way they found each other again made me squeal.) The ending was sad, but at the same time, it was really beautiful, and the way you repeated the phrase "Close your eyes" was just wow.
(I'm kind of confused about Hunhan's ending. I thought they would end up together since Luhan proposed, but I guess they didn't?) And the Taoris at the end was really cute!
Anyway, thank you so much for writing this fic, and I'm so glad I was able to find it again.
