That One Time on the Doomsday
Ever EnoughAs she took a deep breath, she stood there gazing at the door in silence. She had never felt more rational and clear-minded all her life than she did today. Yet again, she had no idea what had gotten to her mind that she decided to make a trip to his office to see him, while still contemplating what to say as an excuse if he happened to allow her in.
Honestly, she had not fully grasped everything that Hayoung had told her about the problem. Yet, from what seemed like her mindless comprehension, Hayoung had recited a news article about Pohang and Ulsan... and Daehwan.
Ulsan factories collapse, Shareholders submit motion
Hayoung’s voice dictating the headline news kept replaying in her head.
Apparently, Pohang factory which mainly operated in steel output, dissolved just a few months after Jongin took over the president seat (that was year ago). Eventhough the company officials were not quite happy about that, they agreed to give Jongin some time to fix and reflect on this due his lack of business management skills as he was still adapting that time. Things were further complicated by the fact that now, eleven months after Pohang’s deterioration, Ulsan industry which was Daehwan’s main heart-throb was closing down.
She knew she was being unreasonable as she found herself counting the time she had been involved with Jongin. If it was Pohang’s problem, they were still stranger back then, so she would not had anything to do with the failure. She did not know why she was relieved by the thought, but she was.
Ok, the news. The news partially stated that Jongin had failed to run regeneration. He, most of the time, objected several proposals from the board committee to open up new recruitment for engineers and labors, and only approved that one of marketing and legal staff recruitment. The committee proposals were not impulsive act, Jongin admitted. Way before this power clash emerged, he himself had demoted and even fired a filthy number of management coordinators and staffs out of ineffectiveness of work performance. There were far too many deficiency develop during his father's illness leave and it was getting worse. It was not fair for the company to always loyally pay for their salary when they were not even doing their shares as job executors. The decision was not made with a subjective judgment. His motion was carried in two meetings with the executives, and most of them complied with the offer to cut this long-last setback. And then there was the the board committee.
But then again, how would people know what his mind was planning?Crack.
The door was opened with a low force it did not startle Huisoo.“Why are you here?” He flinched from his standing position, frowning at her sudden show up. Her first show up ever at Dae Hwan building.
“Well, you haven’t been coming home for damn four days and your siblings have been asking me for countless time about your well-being and your phone is dead. How do you expect me for not being here?” She replied as if she had planned the answer; though with a bit flustered feeling due to the sight of him.
“I mean you should be with them right now, that’s the deal.” He said while watching her making her way to the couch nearby the bookshelves even without his permission.“I've been with them all the time,” She breathed out, facing his standing figure before her, “And I'm here to make sure I have something to reply to them in case they ask about you again.” Liar.
Well, that was another thing. Actually, she just had this sudden urgent to see him. She studied his posture. He was still the man of his outfit, looking so dashing from outside. Until that moment when she anchored her sight to his eyes, despite how much he tried to look excellent, gone was his firm and determining eyes.
“Although you look common, at least,” She stuttered. “I should come with something convincing r- right?” Liar.
