Grow Up
Ever EnoughWell, it was pitch black out right now, up at the crack of dusk. Car lights tore the foggy road to make way for the two escapists to come back to their actual life. The car sped in a very crazy way. He only discovered just now that he, actually can go faster like this. It was not because they had left their routine lives for quite long hours so they needed to come back, but because for the first time in his life, he disliked silence.
However, no matter how hard he hit the gas, or how fast the car had gone, she whose face never left the window, didn’t budge.
Two cups of coffee remained untouch. His was already cracked open, but seeing her not moving a finger since they departed ten minutes ago, there was no way he would find it comfortable to enjoy his cup.
He hit the steering wheel.
Well, it was not like she was trying not to care, never did she try to ignore his doing. It was she who didn’t hear or pay attention to him. Her mind was too occupied by so many quarelling thoughts which fought for higher spot in her mind, asking to be the priority of her thinking. She didn’t spare a thought about the silence or the awkwardness that filled the air inside the car. They were only for him to feel, for she was not in place right now.
Major part of her mind flew to the scene earlier at the hill. Not when she happily gathered the Baby’s Breath into one, not that one. It was when she heard everything for the first time. Those words, those sentences. She heard everything well and saved it under her consciousness although she didn’t want to hear the hard truth (well, nobody wants to hear hard truths). She could’ve just ignored or avoided or numbed it out, but the words just sank in and she finally heard the words spoken.
It was not his fault to have her listening to it. She herself knew well that it was the truth behind their marriage. She knew that they were not in a romantic kind of relationship where they get married for affection. Anything that the future holds, she had to accept it with big heart since the day she agreed to end her celibacy. But, when Jongin's words slid straightly into her soul, why did she feel like betrayed? Why did it sadden her all of a sudden?
Was it because she was not ready, or was it because of all this time she was trying to deny it?
She had no idea why she didn’t like the feeling.
The car quickly entered the outskirt of Seoul. That was when he finally slowed down the pace. He officially gave up in attempting to make her speak a word. Although before he was expecting her to say 'Drive slowly' or 'Do you want to kill us?' as a response to his wild car-speeding, now, he would call it off. There was no use anyway.
When he heard a phone rang, he boldly glanced at her who was about to attend the call.
“Sorry, really sorry Oppa.” Her voice was tender and weak. He couldn’t see her eyes, the only thing he saw was they were just dark.
“I’ll be there in a while.”
He raised a brow. He didn’t know to whom she was talking, but he was sure that he was not cool with that.
“I’ll say thank you in advance then, thank you for covering my part.” She weakly ended the talk and put her phone down to her lap. He was praying that she would turn head and say something, but she did otherwise.
He sighed inwardly. She was not mad, right?
If she was, then it was going to be hard for her. It was the truth about their relationship and she was not supposed to expect more than that. She had to accept it and live with it. They were arranged by the parents, there must be reason behi
