Intern ShenanigansYixing stretched out his arms and let out a loud yawn. He had been up fairly late last night working on a project that Jongdae asked for help on. Yixing didn’t really mind though, in fact, he was excited about helping with the model. Still, he was anxious to know what everyone would think of Yixing’s work.
“Wow!!”
Yixing turned his head in the direction of the voice and greeted a ‘hello’ to Jongdae.
“This is totally great! It’s better than what I would’ve done!” Jongdae looked at Yixing’s model in awe and Yixing couldn’t hide the smile from his face at the praise.
Minseok walked over to have a look as well, and gave Yixing a warm smile after inspecting every nook and cranny of the model. Yixing felt so warm with all of the compliments, but couldn’t help but feel that something was missing…
“Oh, Luhan’s running a bit late today,” Jongdae answered Yixing’s unspoken question. “He’ll be here though, don’t worry.”
Yixing nodded and got up to go run his usual errands. On the way to Kyungsoo’s office, he came across some really professional-looking men and made sure to bow extra politely as they passed by. As they turned around the corner, Yixing heard one of the men say “Interns are great, I’d like one too”, and Yixing nearly creeped out Kyungsoo with the smile that was on his face.
Finishing deliveries with Kyungsoo in a faster-paced manner than usual, Yixing walked back into the room to see Luhan talking on the phone with a client. His model had been placed with others in a section of the room, and he was suddenly nervous to hear what Luhan would say about his work. Luhan seemed to be really occupied in his conversation though, only giving Yixing a brief look and a wave ‘hello’ when Yixing entered the room.
Yixing sat at his desk and started organizing some papers, a little dismayed at the lack of affection in Luhan’s greeting, but he understood that Luhan was always serious when business was involved. Yixing was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn’t hear Luhan end his talk with the client, nor did he hear Luhan’s footsteps as he made his way to Yixing’s desk.
Yixing finally noticed Luhan was there when he felt a pair of warm hands on his shoulders. He looked up to see Luhan smiling at him.
“Hey,” Luhan simply said.
“You finished your phone call?” Yixing asked with a blank look on his face.
Luhan poked Yixing’s cheek lightly.
“Yeah, like 2 minutes ago.”
Yixing hummed in response and looked back to the papers on his desk. Luhan’s hands were still on his shoulders, and it almost felt like the heat was being transferred as Yixing felt his neck getting warmer.
“I like it a lot, by the way,” Luhan spoke, and Yixing turned his head again to face him. “You did a fantastic job on the model.”
Yixing smiled shyly and muttered back a soft “Thank you”, feeling the heat extend from his neck to his cheeks. Luhan gave Yixing’s shoulders a small squeeze and pat and started making his way back to his own desk.
Yixing couldn’t help but feel a little sad when the warmth from his shoulders started to disappear.
