LAST CHAPTER

I slept with him for the first time in my darkened nighttime bedroom.

Our breath mingled, I heard him tell me he loved me....

And I was happy to return his affection.

Then...

I awoke to the sound of my alarm clock.

Oh...

His arm remained around my waist and he had an almost feverish languidness about him...

I gazed at the man sleeping next to me with a content, happy feeling.

"Good morning..."

Kris open up his eyes lazily..

"Oh..."he said huskily.

It grew a little awkward and we both averted our gaze.

Its like, this is the first time I've seen someone's face in the morning...

But Kris's blushing to his ears too....

"I'd better make breakfast,"I said.

"Right."

But Kris still held onto me tightly.

"I'll have to get up for that,"I reminded him.

"...Just five more minutes..."

I look at him....he look so cute...

"I'm still tired..."he said.

"..Just five minutes, okay?"

Honestly, I wish I could be this way for another ten minutes or even another hour...

I snuggled up against my husband and close my eyes, enjoying a mere five minutes of extra leisure.

 

"Hey, how's the next new project coming along ?"Jinki asked.

"The animal ear cafe? The table settings I proposed the other day got a no reply. I'm in a bit of bind."

"Oh? The antique stuff was no good?"

"They said the idea wasnt bad but it was financially unfeasible."

"Oh I see. Guess you'll either have to downgrade the furniture..or find a place that sells it cheap,"he advised.

"Ms Jeon!" Bora cries out. "We received data on the waitress uniforms from the client. Get a look at this!"

I looked at what she showed me and my jaw nearly dropped.

"What? They wear that?"

"Its different from what we heard, isnt it? Geez..I'm going to rethink the whole restaurant atmosphere."

 

"Phew... I finally hit my goal..."

Oh geez, its this late already? I wont make it in time for the last train..!

 

"Want to head home together Jiyoon? I just got myself done."

"Really? Thanks Jinki, I'd appreciate it!"

"Not fair Jinki! Could you drop me off too?"Bora said out loud.

"Okay, okay.."

 

Once the taxi dropped Bora off at her house, Jinki and I headed for our neighbourhood.

*yawn*

"Geez...Its 1am already. I hope your husband isnt waiting up for you."

"He apparently has overtime too. I just received a text from him saying that he was on his way home."

"For real? Businessmen have it rough too huh."

"Hey Mister, could you take a right turn at the corner there?"

By the time the taxi reached our neighbourhood, the time was half past 1 in the morning.

"Mm..i'm exhausted today. Good thing we've got off tomorrow. I'm gonna sleep past noon!"

"That sounds nice. I've got laundry to do and groceries shopping."

Then another taxi came to a stop in front of the building.

The one who emerged from it was....

"Kris!" I call out happily to my husband.

"Jiyoon.."

"What a coincidence, I just got back too."

"I see."

Kris glanced at the man next to me.

"Hello there, its been a while,"Jinki said with a slight nod.

"Likewise,"Kris answered back with a nod.

"We shared a cab home. Jinki was also working late,"I inform as I link my hands around his arm.

"I see. Thank you for seeing my wife safely home."

"Please think nothing of it. I feel bad keeping her at work till so late. I need to go back now. I'll see you next week Jiyoon."

"Right, until then."

"Shall we be off Hubby?"

"Ok.."

"But its really rare, isnt it? We almost never get home at the same time.."

"What are your plans for tomorrow Hubby? Do you have a work gathering or anything?"

But somehow Kris remained silent.

What could have happen?

"If you dont have any plans, can we spend the afternoon together?"

"Were you two working late alone together?"

"Huh? You mean Jinki and me? No, Bora was there too"

"Really?"

"Yes, honest..." 

The elevator reached the first floor and its door opened.

Then Kris grabbed my arms and pushed me in...

 "What's wrong Hub...." "Mmm...."

He suddenly embraced me and kissed me along my neck.

"Wait! This is the elevator..."

I felt his tongue traced a line down my chest and said, "Its your fault."

"Whats my fault?"

He my blouse.

Oh god, his head went lower.

"You made me so jealous."

I was in delirious.

"But I dont even have...mmm...for Jinki!"

He didnt stop and I was secretly hoping that he wont.

"Kris..."

 

We entered the apartment in the dim light and I was pressed down on the couch.

As I met his impatient kisses, I found myself a little taken aback at this side of Kris.

Dont tell me he's even jealous of Jinki?

I wanted to tell him to settle down but he wouldnt give me the chance.

His kisses were unusually intense..

And I could feel something akin to irritation..from the fingers that ran along my skin.

Everything is fine..He has no reason to worry...

But on the flip side, I found myself wanting to get swept away by his intensity.

"Please... Slow down a little..."

"..."

"Kris..."

My weak voice melted away into the night air.

 

*huff,huff*

My breath was ragged as I regained control of the senses I had let go of.

As I forced myself to sit up, i saw red markings on my thighs.

He even kissed me there....

I slumped back beside him.

"Kris..."

"..."

"Come on, dont pretend to be asleep. I'm onto you."

I squeezed his well shaped ears between my fingers.

That got his attention and I let his ear off.

He opened his eyes and look at me.

"My body aches,"I complained.

"..."

"Ah geez, cut it out."

"...."

"Are you even listening to me?"

"Its your fault for being so attractive,"he finally speak out.

I was speechless.

Me? So attractive?

"I never expected I'd get so jealous either..."

I couldnt help but laugh at his puzzled expression.

"Dont laugh."

"Sorry...But you're so cute Kris..."

"I am not cute."

*giggle*

"Guessed not, sorry..."

I ran my fingers softly through Kris's slightly matted hair.

A warm arm reached out and pulled me close by the waist once more.

"Werent you jealous?"

"Of what?" I asked back.

"When you learnt I was seeing another woman."

A brief pain seized up in my chest with the unexpected question.

"I was. I was really miserable..."

"You didnt consider of breaking up with me right then?"

"I cant say that thought never crossed my mind but I couldnt decide."

"..."

"I thought to myself a lot that it might be hopeless but somewhere deep down, I wish for you to look at me..."

"I see."

The hand at my waist squeezed me tightly.

"I am sorry about what happened then. I treated you badly."

A hint of regret was clearly heard in his voice.

"..."

"I could have never stand it if I had been in your shoes... Just seeing you with another man is enough to make me feel so jealous."

"Kris..."

"Maybe Mom's been bottling it up all this time. She said it was fine as long as father kept providing for the family.... I swallowed that line...But maybe the truth was that she was pushing herself..."

"Maybe so..."

No matter how tough she acts, she could really be suffering deep down.

She just couldnt let her child see that..

"Please Jiyoon... Have eyes only for me. Love only me."

"..."

He looked away sadly.

"I know, I have no right to ask that of you but I do." He looks back at me. "I beg of you."

"Dummy."

I embraced Kris back and kiss his eyebrow.

"You just dont know Kris. You dont know how much I wanted you to love me. How happy I am right now..."

I nibble on his lips gently.

"Jiyoon."

"I love you....truly"

Kris flip me over on the narrow sofa.

And kiss me all over.

I wrapped my arms around his back.

We made love again, this time taking our time slowly...

 

The next day, Kris invited me for a drive.

"Where are we going?"I asked curiosly.

"Gwangdo."

"For flower viewing?"

"Who could say?"

"Mountain climbing?"

"Hardly."

"Dont tell me we're going camping?"

"Not that either."

Kris checking the GPS as he drives. That mean its not a place he's used to visit right?

We drove for nearly two hours.

The place Kris brought me was...

 

"Wow, its dusty. I thought the manager will come to clean up from time to time,"Kris commented as he surveyed the cottage.

Wow, the living room has a fireplace. It has a nicely arranged kitchen and proper lightings too.

"Hubby, where is this?"

"Its my father's property. I've only been here a couple of times, enough to count with one hand. Its been about 20 years I'd say."

Kris peered into the hearth.

"I'll start a fire first. The nights get cold around here. Could you unpack everything from the trunk?"

"Okay."

I grew absorbed in the cottage's construction and interior as I unpacked our things.

Towels,food... There's a lot of other stuffs here...

Kris must have meant to spend the night here.

But why so suddenly?

The answer became clear to me that night.

 

Just past 8pm.

"I'm going out. Come with me."

"Hmm? Right now?"

He took my hands and smiles. "There's something I want to show you."

 

Wow, its really pitch black...

There are no city lights...

No buildings in sight....

But for all that....

"The night sky is gorgeous,"I said, looking up at the thousands stars above.

"Not bad right?" Kris hug me from behind. I turn my head slightly and kiss his lips.

"Its amazing. The stars all shine so brightly. Its nothing at all like in the city."

I look back up in the sky and I lean my back against Kris's.

"I thought the same thing when I first saw this sky. I was surprised..... That you could add so much shine to the stars just by being in a dark area. I wanted to share those feelings with someone.I wanted to express that amazement together together with someone. Now my wish has finally came true."

"Am I the first person you've brought here?"

"Yes..."

*giggle*

I was so happy to hear that, that I put turn around, s my arms around his neck and pull his head down for a passionate kiss.

Pulling him slightly away, I look into his eyes,"Thank you for showing me such a wonderful sight."

His breath was a bit ragged.

"I should be the one thanking you."

"Why?"

"I was missing a lot inside....Before I started seeing you like this. I'd forgotten what it was to be treasured by someone, to be loved by someone. I'd even forgotten this night sky up until recently...I'm sure it was because of you that I remembered it."

He drew me close and my hair. His fingers were so gentle as if they were touching something precious.

"Sharing something precious. I want you to always be the person I share with. I want you to always be by my side."

Kris...

"I'll ask you again, Jeon Jiyoon, will you marry me? This time I will make you happy."

Thump,thump,thump... His pukse sounded more agitated than usual.

I gave him a small smile, finding that adorable.

"Thank you but I dont want to be the only one happy here."

Kris looked at me in surprise. He thought I rejected him.

"I want to make you happy too Kris Wu. We will be happy together."

Kris look relieved. "Yes, we will."

No one but us was there to witness our second exchange of vows..

But deep down inside...

I knew this contract would never be broken.

 

I offered my hand to Kris in front of the warm hearth.

We exchanged rings for a second time.

His pleasantly cool hand adorned my left ring finger with a ring.

"It fits a little more loosely now,"he commented. "I'm sorry...Its because of all that I put you through..."

"Thats not true. I really am happy right now,okay? So dont apologize anymore."

"Alright."

The ring on Kris's ring finger gleamed in the light.

When I ran my fingers gently across its surface, gentle lips descended upon my forehead.

"Just the forehead?"I teased.

"Hardly,"he said.

He lifted me up in his arms.

Its a little embarrassing being held in a bridal style at my age.

"I'm not heavy,am I?"

"You are."

I pouted. "Oh you..."

"Today's a special day. Our first wedded night together."

"first night?"

"Dont blush like a school girl,"he scolds lightly.

"I should say the same to you Kris!"

Kris let me down onto a slightly narrow bed that we would be sharing.

He helped me took off my clothes.

I climbed on the bed and wrapped myself with the blanket on the bed.

Kris climbed in later after taking his clothes off.

I snuggle my head onto Kris's chest.

"Jiyoon, look at me, "he cooed in a faint voice.

He gave me repeated pecking kisses when I look up at him.

He's kissing me longer than usual.

Is that because this is out first night?

The answer I reached made me giggle before I could stop myself.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing. Its just... I was thinking of how happy I was."

As I brushed a hand along his dissatisfied looking eyes, he took my fingers and down on them.

It felt more like being eaten than being kissed..

Oh... He wants me...

As he continues with his teasing, my body temperature began to rise.

"Kris...,"I called his name but it sounds rather whiny and I look at him with pleading eyes.

His body pressing hotly against mine as he kissed me wildly.

I closed my eyes and awaited the warmth of his hands.

We have done this several times before but yet, my heart trembled.

I never thought I'd see this day.

I continued to share Kris's affection in a place where all we could feel was each other.

 

The next day, we visited a shopping mall on the way back home.

"Hubby look, isnt this cutlery nice?"

"..."

"Ooh, I like these chopsticks too..."

"...."

"Dont look so mopey..."

"I am not mopey. I am actually impressed. I never thought a person can get so excited over simple shopping..."

"Hubby, they have a couple mug. Isnt it cute?"

"....

" *giggle*

"You like them too dont you?"

"I do not. But if you like it, you can buy them."

I pinched his cheek. "

Aigoo, you just cant be honest, can you?"

"Be quiet."

"Once we get back, lets put on some coffee."

"...."

"Or tea perhaps? We have cinnamon sticks. I could always make cinammon tea."

"We're out of tea leaves.."he reminded me.

"Oh, thats right. Okay, lets pick up some tea while we're here.."

I reached for the black tea counter but then Kris squeezed my hand.

"Whats wrong?"

"I cant have you getting lost."

I cocked my eyebrow at him.

"Getting lost? I'm over thirty..."

"You cant say it would never happen." He's blushing as he says it.

"Geez hubby, can you be more honest?"

"Quiet..."

Peck! Kris was stunned by my sudden affection.

"Now then, lets get some tea and get back."

"Dont provoke me in a place like this..,"he warned.

I looked innocently at him. "I did nothing of the sort."

"You just kissed me."

"Its just a harmless peck on the cheek."

"I'll remember that tonight."

*giggle*

"You have work tommorow hubby."

"I can make do with toast for breakfast."

As he held my left hand, my ring gleamed.

I walked off with Kris, feeling that sense of happiness anew.
