I’ve always been a morning person, maybe it had something to do with my mom giving birth to me at 4 in the morning, but whatever it was I love the morning. Especially when you wake up just in time to see the world come alive; people out on their morning jog, kids dressed in their uniforms to go to school, the sounds of feet against the hard ground walking to wherever their feet take them. It is beautiful in my eyes.
“UGH! Why did I have to wake up?” Unfortunately on the other hand, my best friend and roommate Cha-Sook is not. She, and I kid you not, claims that morning is a spawn of Satan himself. ‘Morning is the time of day that most people wake up to a job that the wished they never took. Or wake up next to a stranger and a throbbing headache. All in all, the morning is the worst part of the day.’
As I started to get breakfast ready, I chuckled at Cha-Sook who could be heard quietly cursing to herself as her body was beginning to wake up.
Although I heard muffled footsteps against the wood floor, it still surprised me when Cha-Sook spoke right in my ears.
“Unnie! Are you making breakfast for me again?” I turned my head to catch an excited Cha-Sook puppy looking at me with wide eyes. I always try to make Cha-Sook breakfast, and on a good day, we can eat together.
When Cha-Sook first told me she was moving to Korea, I promised myself that I didn’t want her to eat meals alone . Eating meals alone can make a person feel homesick. But I never told her this, she will just claim that I am ‘worrying too much’.
“Yes, since I don’t want you to burn the house down while I am at work.” Her smile fades into a pout, and I stick my tongue out at her. “Could you be a doll and set the table?” I asked as I flip one of the pancakes.
“Sure, I will try to be careful not to drop them. Lord knows I could ruin the house if i did.” I couldn’t help but smirk at her remark, Cha-Sook has always been playful since Day 1 and it was one of her attractive points.
It didn’t even take a second, after I put the pancakes down, for her to start digging in. I swear this girl eats like she hasn’t had a proper meal in years.
“Unnie, do you know if Louis Vuitton is hiring?” She says through a mouth full of pancake, before washing it down with orange juice. I was lucky enough to land a job at Louis Vuitton when I first moved to Korea a year ago.
“No, we just hired someone. What’s his name Chanu? Chanyeol?” I trailed off as I took a bite of my pancake. “Why? This is the first time you’ve asked about a job. Normally I have to force you to go job hunting.”
Even though Louis Vuitton’s pay is great, it’s not enough for Cha-Sook and I to live off of. This girl loves her food.
“Well it looks like you are having a hard time supplying for us. I mean, this is the third time we’ve had pancakes this week.” She looked at her plate as she pushed her pancake back and forth, something smelled fishy.
I raised my eyebrow as I took another bite of pancake, “Be honest, why do you want a job?”
“I saw these really, really, really, cute shoes at this department store, but I already spent all of my monthly allowance from my parents.” She said in one breath. I couldn’t help but smile, this girl is really too cute.
“Sorry Cha-Sook, but I will try to keep my eyes open for a job.” She nodded as she took a bite.

When I arrived at work I was welcomed by an unusual sight, Luhan pacing outside of the store. A Luhan whose arms were crossed in front of his chest, which occasionally would come unfolded as he carefully ran his hands through his fluffy hair that would restyle itself. His doe eyes, which are usually soft and sweet, are staring daggers across the street, while he was biting his lower lip.
“Oppa!” I called as I neared the unusual Luhan, “What’s wrong?” He swung his fluffy head of hair in my direction.
“What’s wrong? This!” He threw his two arms in the direction to the shop across from ours, his chest was collapsing and rising quickly from his rapid breathing. As I looked over in the direction he was pointing in, I couldn’t help but giggle.
Is he really worked up about this?
“Lulu~” I cooed, “We have nothing to worry about.”
“Are you blind? Do you even see what it says?” Luhan was now pacing back and forth at a quicker pace.
“Yeah. It’s says Gucci.” As I looked at the building through the faint white screens that were hiding the interior, I could make out some figures moving. Just as I was about to turn my attention towards a hyperventilating Luhan, something quickly caught my eye. Someone behind the screen posted a ‘Help Wanted’ sign on one of the windows, and within seconds my hand starts fumbling in my purse looking for my phone.
To Cha-Sook: DAEBAK!!!! I think I might have found you a job! Whose Unnie is the best? That’s right, your Unnie is the best. Naega jaeil jalnaga!
“What are you doing-”
“LUHAN! I told you to get back inside- Oh! Hi Eun-Mi, I see you’re on time like always.” Suho’s head was sticking out of the door.
“Morning! Suho, is that new employee coming in today?” I start walking towards Suho, leaving a frustrated Luhan trailing behind me.
“Not until later. But in the meantime Baekhyun needs help stocking shelves today. The new summer line arrived last night.”
“Summer line?” Luhan’s face lit up, and before Suho could agree, Luhan was running into the store. “YAH! BAEKHYUN!! WAIT FOR ME.”

Honestly, the first half of the work day is uneventful. No one has the urge to buy Louis Vuitton products first thing in the morning. Well, at least I wouldn’t want to start my day out by spending thousands of dollars. But hey, if someone wanted to do that, we aren’t stopping them.
By the time lunch break creeps up, everyone is getting in their last moments of tranquility. We’ve realized that after the hand on the clock passes 12, business starts to pick up.
Baekhyun left to go pick up food for everyone while Suho and I did one last inventory check before the “Holy Movement”, as we call it, takes place. And then there is Luhan, who is still glaring across the street from the window.
“Luhan. Let’s be honest, your face is ugly when you’re mad. Don’t scare the customers away.” Suho joked as he finished checking inventory.
“Suho, this isn’t a time for jokes.” Luhan kept glaring, Suho and I exchanged looks and shook our heads. Just as I was about to hand Suho my inventory sheet, my phone went off.
“Answer it. No one is here.” Suho grinned as he took the inventory sheets to the back room.
“UNNIE!!!!!” I yanked the phone away from my ear, afraid that Cha-Sook popped one of my eardrums.
“Yah! I’ve told you to text me if you need anything. Thank god for the lenient Suho.” I placed the phone back against my ear.
“I landed an interview! All thanks to your text!” Cha-Sook chirped.
“WHAT?” I couldn’t help but raise my voice. Luhan averted his glare from the building to me, I retaliated by sticking my tongue out at him. Already? They already want to interview her?
“Yeah! Isn’t that great?” Just as I was about to answer, the front door rung as someone was walking in. I quickly hung up, and shoved the phone into my pocket.
“Welcome to Louis Vuitton! Is there anything I can help you with today sir?” Luhan snapped out of his death glare.
“Hello, I’m Park Chanyeol, I will be working here from today onward. Please take care of me” His deep voice caught me by surprise.
“Oh! Chanyeollie! You’re finally here?” Suho calls from the back room and approaches the group. “Guys, this is Chanyeol he will be working here under floor sales.” Suho places his arm around, attempts to put his arm around Chanyeol’s shoulder.
“This thing right here is Luhan. He is the Co-Manager, so whenever I am not on the floor he will talk over.” Luhan bows to Chanyeol before turning back to glare at the building, seriously how long will he glare at it.
“Hyungs’ and Eun-Mi food has arrived!” Baekhyun yells proudly as he walks through the door carrying bags of take out it each hand.
“This,” Suho gestures a thumb towards Baekhyun “Is Baekhyun.” Chanyeol and Baekhyun both bow to each other.
“And this amazing lady is Eun-Mi. She is the top floor salesperson we’ve ever had at this company.” Suho places his hand on my shoulder.
“Nice to meet you.” We both managed to say at the same time.
“Eun-Mi. Chanyeol was put on the floor team, so I am trusting that you will train him well.” Suho held up two thumbs as encouragement before he walks over to Luhan, hitting the back of Luhan's head in the process.
“Have you’ve worked in floor sales before?” I ask Chanyeol, taking my eyes off Luhan rubbing his head.
“Yes. But nothing on this high of a scale.” Chanyeol starts to walk around the shop, occasionally letting out a “wow” or an “ah”.
“I can’t believe I am surrounded by things that cost more than my life.” I couldn’t help but giggle at how innocent he was.
“Careful, if you break something it comes out of your pay.” I say behind him peeking around his body, to find him quickly pulling his hands away from a bag. He turned his face to meet mine; his eyes are wide in shock, causing me to laughing.
“Just kidding. But Luhan on the other hand might kill you.” We both looked at Luhan who was still glaring through the window and couldn’t help but smile.
