She did a horrible thing to me.
Now I’m deeply traumatized by it.
She pretends like nothing happened.
Well Park Bom, God knows what you’ve done.
I demand an apology.

Choi SeungHyun

I crumpled the note in my fist.
Choi SeungHyun, you’re so going to get it from me!!

00 || The Drunken KingKa

My night was perfect until he showed up.

I mean, I was at my small stall by the roadside, happily selling corns to the pedestrians. Business was good and I get to eat corn whenever I feel like it.

Yes, it was perfect in my dictionary.

Then, he showed up in all his drunken glory, totally killing off my previously perfect night.

He threw up on one of the customers and who had to apologize to him?
Want to take a wild guess here?
That’s right, I was the one who had to apologize while he went to barf some more on another customer.

In a matter of seconds, I had lost all my customers.

I thought he was going to leave but he sat at one of the tables, totally ruining the possibility of any other customers coming to my stall.

I could have called the police to lock him up. After all, drinking is illegal for our age. He would be locked up for sure.
I could have dragged him to some place other than my stall.
I could have chased him away with a broom stick.

But I didn’t.

Well, truth be told, I really couldn’t.

I didn’t have the heart to do all those things when I saw him crying. I mean, the boy was practically wailing.

He was calling out for a girl’s name. I think he was drinking off his broken heart.

“Lee ChaeRin~ Why do you do this to me-eeeee?” he sniffed, “Why am I not good enough for you-uuuu?”

I bit my lips, contemplating on whether I should slap his face for him to get out of his drunken state or just let him be. I decided to go with the latter.

“Mister, you’re drunk. Please wake up,” I said as calmly as I could. “Better still, please go home,” I just had to add that, hoping that he’d get the hint for him to leave.

Unfortunately, he didn’t.

The boy looked up. He looked like a mess. His eyes were red and teary and his face was pink; he was drunk beyond words.

As I took a closer inspection, I gasped when I realised who he was.

It was him; my school’s so-called kingka.

Choi SeungHyun.

Who at school doesn’t know him? He was the it guy whom most girls in my school would die to be with. He was the guy who had made basketball very popular among the females in my school. He was the guy who had received nearly a thousand candies during Valentine’s Day this year.

I mostly remember him as the guy who had infamously declared his love for a girl from another school during our school’s charity event a few days ago. I was selling corn at one of the stalls at the event and had witnessed the whole thing.

Hmm.. yet he is now bawling his eyes out in front of me.
Trouble in paradise, so soon?
No wonder I saw the girl running away frantically from SeungHyun at the event.
It must be tough, having a drop dead gorgeous boyfriend with all the females trying to oust you.

“Lee ChaeRin~” he wailed yet again, burying his head on his arm. “ChaeRin~”

I heaved a deep sigh. I knew I was going to regret it the moment that I did it.

I sat down on the stool beside him and gently his head. It was what my mother used to do whenever I was crying. I think it worked magic in soothing the troubles of the heart.

“Shh... it’s going to be alright,” I said quietly.

SeungHyun suddenly looked up. “Ahjumma~!!!” he grinned

Ahjumma???

I immediately stood up. So much for trying to be nice to a drunk! I should have known better. “Who’s your ahjumma?!” I protested in annoyance, hands on my hips, “I’m your age!”

As you probably have known, age is a sensitive issue for women, me included. It doesn’t make any sense to be called ahjumma when you’re not yet even 17.

“Hey, ahjumma!! Gimme some more beer! I’m thirsty-yyy!!” he yelled, slapping his hand on the table like a boy throwing a tantrum.

I breathed deeply, trying to calm myself.
My patience was already running thin.

“I don’t sell beer. I sell corn!” I said through gritted teeth, “Besides, whoever drinks beer to quench their thirst? You better drink plain water.”

SeungHyun snickered. “Ahjuma-aa!! Why do yo-you talk so much-hhh?” he asked, imitating a duck with his hand.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I’m.Not.An.Ahjumma,” I grumbled.

He suddenly stood up, walking in zig-zag towards my precious corns that were steamed in the steamer. “Ah~,” he exclaimed, picking up the lid of the steamer, revealing the sparkling, golden sweet corns hidden underneath it. “Corn~!” he said gleefully.

Suddenly he made the gagging sound, like he was about to throw up. “Huk! Huk!” he gagged.

My eyes widened with horror as I ran towards him. “Don’t touch my corns! Stay away from my corns!” I yelled but it was too late.

“Blueekkkk~” he barfed on my corns, my precious corns.

“Oh no-ooooooo-oooo!” I screamed as I saw my corns being drowned in vomit. “No-oooo!”

It was my turn to wail.

SeungHyun reached out to pat my head. “Shh... it’s gonna be alright-ttttt,” he grinned.

Aish! He was repeating what I had just done to him.

“YOU!!” I yelled angrily. “You did this!”
I balled up my fist.

He totally killed my perfect night.
He deserved to have my foot shoved up in his a.ss.

“Yes-ssss, I did this. Yes, sirreeee-eeee,” he did a salute at me.

Then, I watched in horror as he fell down to the ground.

**********************

I had to close my stall early. After all, I didn’t have any corns left to sell. Who would want to buy corns drowned in vomit anyways?

I was really itching to leave him lying there on the street.

Too bad, my mother had taught me really well to become a good person. I just couldn’t leave him there. What if he got smuggled? What if someone decided to sell him to the underworld? What if he got bitten to death by stray dogs?

I looked at him. He was already sleeping like a baby, a peaceful smile on his face. Even in his sleep, he still looked gorgeous. No wonder so many girls were so crazy over him.

I heaved a deep sigh. This night is not turning up good at all.

“Why God? Why me?” I said as I looked to the sky. I waited for a reply. A thunder, a raindrop or a lucky star; anything will do.

“Beer~ I want beer,” SeungHyun mumbled instead.

“I’m going to get you home,” I declared as I helped him to get up. He reeked of beer and vomit so I had to breathe through my mouth to prevent myself from smelling the disgusting smell.

I had to bear most of his weight and even though he wasn’t fat, the weight was too heavy for me to handle. We had only taken three steps before we both tumbled down onto the ground. We got up and tried again; this time we only managed to walk two steps before we fell to the ground again.

“Aish!!” I yelled, kicking my legs in frustration as I sat up. SeungHyun sat up beside me.

“Shh...” he said, putting a finger on my lips, “It’s going to be alright.” He my hair.

Aish, he was mocking me for the second time that night.

“It’s all your fault!!” I yelled, “You’ve ruined my perfect night. You co-“

I felt his lips forced onto mine.

I tried to push him away but he was just too strong. I was dumbstruck when our lips finally parted. I gaped at him with my eyes widened; I was speechless.

“Kissing really works to make girls shut up,” he said and grinned before he fell on his back onto the ground.

I touched my lips.
It was my first kiss.
It wasn’t what I imagined my first kiss would be.

It should be by the beach during sunset with a man that I love, not with this drunk, heartbroken kingka who doesn’t even know my name.

Urgh, the thought of it really makes my blood boil with anger.

“Hey girl, you need any help?” suddenly a taxi driver called from his taxi when I was about to kick SeungHyun until he bleeds.

“Yes, ahjusshi!” I called back. I was never more excited to see a taxi driver in my entire life.

I took out SeungHyun’s wallet from the pocket of his jeans and took out his ID card to see his address. I gave the driver his address and watched as the driver helped him to get into the taxi. SeungHyun looked at me through the window and gave me a slight wave before the taxi sped away.

I exhaled deeply.

What had just happened?

Did I, Park Bom, just have my first kiss with Choi SeungHyun?
He kissed me, didn’t he?

But he doesn’t even know my name.

I bet he won’t even remember it ever happened.
