Chapter Twenty-Two

"Where's Hae Lynn?" Sehun asked as Kyungsoo's face was visible to most of everyone sitting outside their tents on the sand before they would move as a group to eat their dinner in the resort. "I don't ing know." Kyungsoo deadpanned as he stormed past Sehun who raised his hands defensively in front of his chest when Kyungsoo snapped at him like that. Zipping of the tent could be heard and Kyungsoo trapped himself inside the tent to be alone.

"Rock, paper, scissors you on who should go and talk to him." Baekhyun nudged Kai who nodded in agreement.

"Save it." Joon Myun chuckled, pushing Baekhyun and Kai's hand away from each other as he got up, silently volunteering to be the one to check on Kyungsoo. "You might want to wear protective gear." Sehun advised Joon Myun loud and clear, only to let Kyungsoo hiss inwardly as he covered eyes with his arm draped over.

Another zipping entered Kyungsoo's ears to indicate that someone had entered the tent he was in. Joon Myun sat down beside Kyungsoo in the zipped tent as he tapped the boy lying down on the ground's lap. "What happened?"

"Minhyuk kissed her." Kyungsoo stated softly, earning a confused look from Joon Myun. Joon Myun furrowed his eyebrows and let out a soft sigh with his arms crossed in front of his chest.

"But he's-"

"He's part of the football team. They have a training trip here with us too." Kyungsoo stated dryly - allowing the sight of Minhyuk kissing the girl he likes enter his mind again. The sight he was allowed to see didn't leave his mind. The thought of knowing Minhyuk kissed her just like that made him wonder - why didn't he do that first?

Why didn't he gather up the courage to make the first move like Minhyuk sooner?

Right, I was trying to make it perfect for the right time... Stupid!

"Forget it." Kyungsoo breathed out as he moved his arm away from his eyes to stare at the ceiling of the tent. Joon Myun didn't like this one bit - he knows that Hae Lynn likes Kyungsoo and there has to be some explanation, it should be something else. Probably Minhyuk made the first move first boldly without her consent. Knowing Kyungsoo was an easy boy who would let the conclusions gather up in his mind, "Kyungsoo, I'm sure it's not what you think it is."

"Oh yeah?" Kyungsoo sat up and shifted backwards to sit side by side with Joon Myun. "She didn't even push him away."

"How long did you watch? I bet you left right after that, right?"

A pang hit Kyungsoo in the face as he lowered his head to avoid Joon Myun's stare. "You left that early, didn't you?" Joon Myun clarified, shifting closer so he could put his arm around Kyungsoo but a groan left his lips the moment Joon Myun's arm was around his shoulder, "Bear with it for a little while." Joon Myun chuckled softly, pulling Kyungsoo closer until there was no gap between their bodies. "Look, I know you like her a lot."

Kyungsoo whipped his head at Joon Myun's direction but Joon Myun simply tilted Kyungsoo's chin up to shut his mouth. 

"Don't try to deny it - I know things." Kyungsoo pushed Joon Myun's hand away before he rolled his eyes - looking away from the boy beside him. "So what? It's all useless."

"It's not." Joon Myun's voice as stern as he lifted his hand up to turn Kyungsoo head to face his. "It's not." Joon Myun shook his head slowly to emphasize on his point. "So what are you going to do? Avoid her at all causes because of that kiss scene you saw?"

Joon Myun retreated his arm away from the younger boy. "Then go ahead and do it. Blindly avoid and ignore her when the two of you didn't even talk things through yet. Whatever it is that you think is right, I'm telling you that it's not. You have to approach to her differently."

"How do you kno-?"

"If you're wondering how I know what you're doing is wrong is because maybe you should think about her feelings first before thinking about yours. If you always put your feelings first, how do you think she would feel? Would you like it if Hae Lynn thought about her feelings first than yours? Or worse, what if she never thought about how you would feel?"

Kyungsoo kept his mouth shut, eyes roaming around somewhere else in guilt - everything Joon Myun said made sense.

"And so far, I can see that Hae Lynn has been protecting your feelings so much, that you're trying to take that for granted. If you keep up with this, I don't think you'll ever care for her or her feelings."

The younger boy listening shot his head up to glare at the older one giving him a lecture, "I do care about her,"

"And her feelings." He finished as he caught himself staring eye to eye with Joon Myun. "Then prove me wrong. Prove to me that you really do care for her."

Kyungsoo let out a heavy sigh as he was the first few to leave the dinner area to head back to the beach. During dinner he couldn't help but stare at her every now and then to notice that she didn't eat much and she was literally trying to be happy and cheerful as if nothing happened. Even he could see through her like glass that she wasn't alright - she wasn't okay.

Where is she? He thought as held onto a bottle of orange juice - he remembered she said she liked this fruit very much. Clutching onto it tight, he headed straight towards the tents and cursed softly when he couldn't spot her anywhere. He was just about to sit down when a figure a distance away by the sea caught his eye. Narrowing his eyes, he recognized that figure anywhere - she was sitting alone in front of the sea.

"Here." His hand was beside her ear and her head turned to see the bottle of orange juice he was holding onto. His hand moved forward a bit to encourage her to take it and her hand lifted to carefully take it away from his hand. "Thanks..."

"You're welcome." He replied softly, taking a seat beside her with his legs folded up and his arms straightened behind him to hold his weight up as he looked at her. Her legs were crossed as she held onto the bottle with two hands, fiddling with the cap of the bottle. He knows that he shouldn't talk about what he saw but he couldn't help but wonder what she felt when Minhyuk kissed her.

Did she like it?

Does she want it to happen again?

More importantly... does she like Minhyuk as well?

All of these questions jumbled up in his mind, not allowing him to have peace and quiet to enjoy Hae Lynn's company. His mind definitely didn't plan on stopping as he got frustrated all of a sudden - catching Hae Lynn's attention. "Are you having fun?"

Her voice rang into his mind and he gulped, blinking at her with a surprised look - he didn't expect her to talk first based on how weird their relationship became after he sang to her. He gave a faint nod with a small smile. "Really fun."

"Ah... That's good to hear." She smiled as well, facing forward and her hand appeared beside him with the bottle of orange juice, "Want some?" She offered without looking at him and he let out a soft laugh. He pushed her hand away, causing her to look at him weirdly, "I gave you the drink, it's rational that you drink it. You didn't eat much during dinner."

"How did you know?" She asked with an eyebrow raised when she turned her body to face him. Kyungsoo, you blew it! "Uh... Nicole told me." Kyungsoo told a white lie and Hae Lynn nodded once, twisting open and his eyes glazed with joy when she brought the bottle to her lips to take a sip. He grinned inwardly the moment a smile spread on her face at the sweetness she tasted. "It's sweet."

"Just like you." He mumbled audibly, causing her to freeze the moment she heard that. Her insides began to flutter for the umpteenth time today - when will she able to carry herself properly without going crazy with his sweet ways? She nearly choked on her drink but thank God she managed to swallow it before she hastily closed the bottle and avoided eye contact. When he noticed he had just blurted that out unintentionally, he figured of a way to play it off.

"But of course, I'm sweeter." A chuckled escaped her lips as she lifted her chin to be greeted with his playful smile. "I'm serious, I'm way sweeter than you are, just saying."

"Oh yeah?" She challenged, causing him to sit up properly, pulling his arms away from the sand to rub them together. 

"Yeah." He nodded once, making her scrunch her nose at him slightly. He wasn't going to lie - that was pretty cute.

"Well... At least when I draw a rabbit, it actually looks like one."

"Hey! You said you it was pretty good!"

"I lied." She snickered, causing him to snatch the bottle as he tossed it over his shoulder. "Come here you little-" With that, he lunged forward with his hands going to her sides as he successfully poked her continuously as she fell back onto the sand, unable to control her giggles that entered his ears - he felt good listening to her being this happy. It was definitely an approach he's never tried before and he should consider trying this more often. He hovered above her as he continued to do so, not allowing her to push his hands away.

"K-Kyungsoo! Stop!"

"Yeah, I don't think so." He laughed back at her as he continued to poke her sides. "Please! I'll do anything!"

"Deal!" With that, Kyungsoo instantly pulled away as he stood up, to look down on her as she sat up, fixing her hair with a huff as she playfully glared at him. "Brat." She showed him her tongue but he simply shrugged - it didn't effect him at all. "Show me your tongue all you want, but meet me at the park that you-" He held back as he bit his tongue - damn it, he cursed inwardly. Her eyes widened as she got up to come face to face with him. "How did you know I was at the park?"

Gulping, he ignored her question. "Just meet me there at 11.00p.m. when everyone is asleep." 

With that he quickly left to join the rest of everyone sitting by the tents as she looked at him weirdly.

Was he following me? She tilted her head a little as she continued to stare from afar. Shaking her head a little, she mumbled softly, "Hah, that couldn't be. Why would he follow...-"

"You're not the one to disappear into foam, something you never should've known."

Smiling a little when she looked away from his gaze, he noticed her cheeks started to color with a slight shade of red. That was something new.

"So baby don't cry, cry,"

Just as his back came in contact with the wall behind him inside the pool, he gave her hands a squeeze to make her lift her chin - locking gazes again as he sang,

"My love will protect you."

"Me...?" She looked away with her eyebrows furrowed along with a soft sigh - she was very confused but at the same time, she felt slightly happy knowing that possibly he followed her - that could mean he liked her, no? Suddenly smiling to herself, she walked over to pick up the bottle of orange juice he gave to her earlier. For some reason, bottled orange juice has never tasted this sweet in a long while.

After the group activities like singing songs by the campfire, fun yet horrifying ghost stories and some mini games, everyone went in to their tents to sleep. Two people shared a tent which leads to Nicole sharing with Hae Lynn, Kyungsoo with Joon Myun, Kai with Baekhyun, and Sehun with Chanyeol.

As Hae Lynn waited for Nicole to fall asleep, she knew it was alright to go the moment she heard faint whimpers. Hae Lynn is close enough to know that whenever Nicole sleeps, she whimpers slightly in her sleep - even she couldn't tell before if she was a nightmare or if she should wake her up but after Hae Lynn asked her about it, Nicole told her.

Hae Lynn peeked one last time only to see that Nicole's eyes were clenched shut with her arms hugging a smaller pillow. With that, Hae Lynn pushed herself out of the sleeping bag as she crawled carefully around their things in the tent. She reached the zip and she ped it slowly. As she got up to get out of the tent, "Where are you going?"

Her eyes widened like saucers and she let out a soft gasp as she looked to her right only to see Sehun standing by his tent with a grin on his face. "Sehun!" She unintentionally raised her voice but slapped a hand over immediately after that. Sehun simply grinned as he made his way towards her with a hand in his pocket. He pulled her out of the tent gently and proceeded to zip the tent up for her before he smiled at her. "What are you doing here?" Hae Lynn whispered but Sehun placed a finger on his lips, grabbing onto her wrist to drag her somewhere far from where the tents were at to sit down by the sea with Hae Lynn by his side.

The atmosphere was nice. It was cold - but not too cold. The feeling of being around here with all of these people felt really nice to Hae Lynn and although she would want to call her grandmother, coach said no phones until the next day so she'll have to wait until she can call her grandmother. Having Sehun by her side was pretty good too - they rarely talked to each other during the training trip today. If she remembered correctly, this would be the first time they were talking for the day.

"Missed me?" Sehun playfully started the conversation and she chuckled silently. When her laugh faded, she patted his thigh as she stared at the waves crashing onto one another gracefully. "No."

"Your 'no' means 'yes'. So yes."

With that, she managed to laugh again before she playfully pushed him away but he stayed put. Letting all the hilarity subside,

"So tell me, what did you do that Kyungsoo hated so much?" Sehun asked as he lied down on the sand with his arms folded behind his head. She furrowed her eyebrows, looking over her shoulder to look at him as she was sitting up with her legs crossed. "What do you mean?"

"Kyungsoo snapped at me faster than you can take a branch and do it on your own. So tell me." Sehun poked her side and she squealled silently. "I don't get it. I don't think I did anything."

"Did you know he followed you to the park you were at with Minhyuk?" Sehun asked as he stared at the stars above him. Her lips parted unintentionally as she turned her body to face Sehun. "What?" It was really soft, but Sehun caught that. "I know things, Hae Lynn. It's pretty obvious you did something that he wouldn't have liked."

She furrowed her eyebrows and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "But I don't think-"

"I told you to meet me at the park." A voice spoke up behind Hae Lynn and she jerked up before she looked behind her to see a pair of legs. As her eyes travelled up, she swallowed her gasp when she met Kyungsoo's eyes glaring down on her. "Here we go again." Sehun playfully stated as he sat up and brushed the sand off his back and hair. "Go on. Take her away." Sehun used a hand to motion the two of them away and Kyungsoo stared at Sehun. "Dude, just take her away if you want her so badly. Unless you want her to stay with me, I'll be more than glad to-"

"Let's go." Kyungsoo cut Sehun off before he grabbed onto Hae Lynn's hand to yank her up. Without protesting, Kyungsoo was allowed to drag Hae Lynn away from Sehun who snickered, lying back down onto the sand mischievously. "I should get credit for being cupid."

"You're cupid?" A voice spoke up beside him and he nearly fell on his back as he shot his head towards the left where he could let his eyes meet with a pair of eyes as she sat down beside him. "S-Soori..." Sehun croaked out softly as she smiled at him warmly, scooting closer as she pressed his knees down so his legs would he flat on the ground as she lied down with her head resting on his lap. "I don't see you having those tiny wings or wearing a diaper with an arrow and bow in your hands." She snickered but he remained still as he swallowed the lump in his throat.

"Y-Yah, you can't just go around using my lap as a pillow."

She shrugged as her arms extended, using her hands to randomly point at one star to another. "But you're comfortable."

"Why?" Her head his lap as she looked up at him with a gummy smile - God he loved it whenever she smiled this wide. He loved it even more knowing he was the cause of it. "You don't like it?"

Sehun shook his head slowly, causing her to smile wider. "That's good to hear..."

I love it, Soori-ah.

"Hey Sehun," Her voice entered his mind and he looked down on her nervously. "Yeah?"

"If you were cupid, maybe you could actually pair me with someone who has a good heart." She snickered but he knew it was easily a joke.

How about me...?

"S-Soori, I-"

"I think we should go sleep now." Soori suggested as she lifted her head from his lap to smile at him warmly. "C'mon." With that, she got up and she held onto his hand to tug him up. He remained seated on the ground and she pouted slightly. "If you don't sleep now, you'll feel tired tomorrow."

"Says the girl who still isn't asleep now."

She showed him her tongue but tried to pull her up again nevertheless, "It's only because I care." She grinned at him and he decided to just give into her like he always has.

If only you knew, Soori...

And if only people knew that even though Sehun could go around helping others getting into a relationship as well as solving relationship problems - he can't solve his own. Not because he doesn't have enough guts - because the girl he loves...

is taken.
