CHAPTER6
Finally pulled up to it, Miah recited, “Welcome to Silent Hill.”
“Y-yah! Don’t say that so creepily!” Junggie stuttered.
She laughed and playfully punching his arm. “Don’t be a baby Junggie. Come on guys, I want to take a picture in front of the sign!”
“Arhg, you’re so weird Miah,” Jae complained while at the same time complying with her friend’s wish by getting out of the car.
They stood, backs to the sign, while Miah set up her tripod to take a timed picture. Having a little trouble balancing her camera while adjusting the stand, she nearly dropped both. Fortunately, the always gentlemanly Suho walked over to help her. She gave him a curt thank you and a soft smile, and handed him her camera. After setting up the tripod appropriately, she took the camera back to turn it on.
“That’s weird,” she mumbled.
“What is?” Jae asked, a bit of annoyance in her voice.
“My camera wont turn on.”
“Maybe it needs new batteries,” Junggie piped up.
“Can’t be, I put fresh ones in the morning we left. Besides I’ve used the camera tons of times while we were driving!”
“Maybe they were defective, or you used it to much. Here I got a pack in the Land Rover, I’ll show you,” Kris offered walking past her to his car. She followed, begrudging her non-responsive device.
Putting in a new set of AA’s she began messing with her camera again, trying to turn it on.
“Son of-! It’s still not working!”
“Are sure you just don’t know how to use it? Let me try,” Suho laughed, grabbing the item out of her hand.
“Yah! I’ve had that thing for 2 years now! I’m the head photographer of the year book committee!” she shot, attempting to defend herself.
“Was…” Junggie murmured, referring to their not-so-long-ago graduation.
“Yeah whatever,” she mumbled, blushing at her forgetfulness.
“Hmm…you’re right. It doesn’t seem to want to turn on. Maybe these batteries are defected to,” Suho muttered.
He tried set after set, until Kris' emergency pack ran out. None of them seemed to do any good.
“Either Kris buys crappy batteries, or your camera is broken,” Suho shrugged.
Snatching her precious device back, she cooed hugging it to herself. “That’s impossible, it was working so well earlier!”
“Did you drop it?” Jae asked.
“No, I had it in its case the whole time, only taking it out to snap a shot here or there.”
“Well I don’t know what to tell you. You’ll probably have to take it to be looked at when we get back home,” Suho said.
Seeing his friend’s downcast look, Junggie offered, “How about we use the camera on our phones for now. That way you’ll at least get a picture in front of the sign.” He took out his phone and offered it to Miah.
“Who’s gonna take the photo though?” She frowned.
“I’ll take it,” Suho offered, playing the gentleman again.
“Don’t you want to be in the shot,” Jae pouted.
“Don’t worry about it, you guys are the ones that were really excited about this trip anyway. Now hurry and get in front of the sign.”
Miah frowned at his statement. She knew he wasn’t super gung ho about the trip, but they were all there together. She wanted everyone to enjoy it. Taking him by surprise, she grabbed Suho around the neck towards the rest of them. Everyone in place beside the sign, they all squeezed together and took a self-shot, Kris's arm extended to get everyone and the sign in the picture since his limbs were the longest.
“Say spooky!” "Spooky!" *snap*
They all dissipated once the picture was taken; Junggie taking his phone off to the side. Kris and Jae walked back to the car prepared to continue their journey while Suho moved to take a closer look at the sign. Miah looked off in the distance, trying to see through the thick fog, there were still shadows, but nothing much could be made ou
