CHAPTER10
There’s so much rain. So much fog. I can’t hear anything, I can’t see anything. I’m scared. “Mama! Mama where are you!? Mama, I’m scared!”
Where am I? Why does it hurt so much? Where is my mom? Dad?
Something touched my foot causing me to start screaming, "Ahhhh help, mama! Papa! Someone help me!” Why can’t I move? Am I dying? Will I die here alone…deaf and blind to the world?
Interrupting my whimpering came a soft, tinkle of a voice, “Shhh baby, I’m right here.”
The grey lifts slightly to reveal a woman with flowing brown hair, and doe like eyes. “Mama!” I exclaim. The woman slowly reaches in, unbuckling and untwisting my seatbelt from around me. I’ll understand if you want to blame me baby.”
I blinked again, still confused. What is she talking about? What hasn’t she taught me and why would I blame her? “Mama…I don't understand?’
“My dear Eunmi. Mommy is sorry that you had to be born to a woman like me. She’s sorry for placing this burden on your shoulders. But mostly…she’s sorry for leaving you when you need her most.” Tears escaped her, making the back of my eyes burn in return. She’s never talked to me in third person before. She always treated me like an adult, no matter how young I was. Why now is she talking to me like a child?“Mommy?”
She gives me one of her famous dazzling smiles, warming my heart in an instant. "It’s going to be okay. Mama is here," she whispers. My hopes were crushed
