CHAPTER13
The broken purr of the engine sputtered again. It was their fifth attempt in the past hour. “Still not working? Jesus, what is wrong with this stupid car!” Jae kicked the tire in frustration. They'd been at it since they found their way back to the car.
At first she and Kris were so paranoid they'd run into another creature after barely escaping the two from earlier, that they sat in the back of the car huddled together with one holding a wrench and the other a crowbar. When they did gain enough courage to try and get the car going, or when Kris did at least, it was already the next day. Kris then spent the first few hours just trying to figure out what was wrong, which he didn't. There was no blatant problem so he chalked it up to either low battery power or a dead spark plug. He couldn't do much about the former, but he thought he could maybe replace the latter.
With various tools, and car notions in his trunk, including extra spark plugs, Kris continuously changed them and tested them out. A few would actually work, starting the car, but it would only turn on for a few minutes, even move a few feet, then die right back out. They were now on their last one.
“Yah! You wanna die? Don’t be hitting my baby!” Kris yelled, more at of frustration then actual anger at his girlfriend.
Jae rolled her eyes at her over dramatic boyfriend. “Oh is your ‘baby’ more important than my foot? It hurt kicking that rubber rock, you know,” she exclaimed.
“Aish, the both of you calm down. Your arguing isn’t going to fix hyungs car any faster,” Junggie said, half hanging out the passenger window.
He and Suho had stumbled back to the vehicle a few hours prior, about the time Kris had decided to try changing the spark plug. The two were hysterical, well Junggie was hysterical and Suho was misty eyed with a blank expression. Kris and Jae had to take a break from their work, mostly Kris', to embrace the duo.
It took a while for Jae to calm Junggie down while Suho explained what happened to them and Kris vice versa. Both Kris and Jae were startled and horrified to hear about Miah, and Jae even had her own short bout of hysterics. None of them actually gave up on the idea that she could still be alive so Suho decided that now that he had brought Junggie safely to his sister, it was his responsibility to go back and find their missing friend. The other's were hesitant to let him go, but in the end agreed, while Junggie continuously complained about not being able to go help.
Frowning, Jae turned her glare on her younger twin, “Oh yeah? Well I don’t see you helping Kris either!”
Junggie rolled his eyes, “Wasn’t it you and Miah that said I should stay away and let the ‘real’ men do their work?”
With a huff Jae turned and walked a away. She was too peeved at the two most important males in her life to even look at them.
“Don’t go too far babe,” Kris called not looking away from the inside of his ‘baby’. Ignoring him, she continued her stroll until she ended up in front of the ‘Welcome to Silent Hill’ sign. Squatting down, she leaned against one of the sign's legs.
“Noona.....Noooona! Noooooooona!”
Jae kept her head rested against her arms, ignoring her taunting little brother. Both him and Kris were being annoying, but to Jae's delight, at least her brother was back to his usually chipper self; mostly.
“NOONA!” Junggie’s panicked yell shook her from her thoughts. Snapping her head up, Jae looked to his frightened face and Kris whipping around toward her. What was wrong?
“Noona come here!” “Babe!” Junggie and Kris called out to her simultaneously. Oh god what was it? she thought, fear seizing her. “If you’re playing with me, it isn’t funny!” she yelled over, becoming frightened of the fear in their eyes.
That’s when she heard a menacing growl from behind her. Slowly turning, she looked under the sign she sat in
