CHAPTER14
“Jae…Jae…come on wake up.”
She felt something nudging her shoulder; with an annoyed moan she opened her eyes and stretched. “What? What is it? Let me sleep a little longer.”
“Something’s coming this way,” the voice answered. At that she fully woke and looked out the windshield. Like Kris said, coming toward them was a weird shadow that looked like it had two heads. A coldness set in Jae's heart as she grabbed her boyfriend’s arm in fear.
“What is it? What should we do?” she shook out.
“I don’t know. Maybe I should get out and confront it. I do have my gun after all. Thank you Dad for convincing me to bring it.”
“No look!” Junggie pointed out from the back seat. Kris and Jae focused harder, trying to see through the thick fog. As they stared the thing had gotten closer, but it wasn’t just a thing anymore, it was definitely two separate bodies. The shadow had finally broke apart to reveal two shadows.
“What are they?” Jae asked with an erratic heart. The things grew closer, and so did the scream she felt caught in . What if they got in the car? Her fear bubbled up monumentally, then subsided quickly when the shadows became clear. They weren’t creatures to fear as she had thought. It was Miah and Suho!
As they got closer, the fear that was once in Jae's heart was replaced with confusion and a fierce jealousy. The once missing duo were holding hands.
Jae's eyes narrowed as she got out of the car, followed by the guys. She strutted over to the newcomers, arms crossed. “So you guys finally found us?” She did not try hard to adjust her tone, and Miah definitely noticed her animosity. With just as much iness as she was giving, Miah replied, “Yeah. No thanks to you.” Jae scoffed and crossed her arms.
“Hey hey. Why are you guys fighting? This should be a joyous reunion. I was so scared Miah!” Junggie interrupted, enveloping the girl into a tight embrace. While his sister was upset at his intervening she was still happy that he broke Suho and Miah’s skinship up.
“They were fighting?” Kris and Suho blinked. Jae rolled her eyes at their ignorance and strutted back to the car. Everyone followed not wanting to be out in the open.
They sat in the SUV all turned to face each other. “Is it safe to be in such a confined place?” Miah questioned.
Jae rolled her eyes, mentally mentally complaining about her childhood friend 'complaining'. “What, would you rather us be out in the open? We already went that direction, and Kris almost died,” she snapped. “Noona!” Junggie scolded in surprise. Jae turned to face the front, ignoring her brother’s exclamation.
After a moment of uncomfortable silence, she faced them again with a sigh. “Sorry, I’m just…on edge. I really want to get out of this place.” “Don’t worry babe, we will,” Kris smiled giving her hand a comforting squeeze. She couldn’t help but smile; he always had a way clearing her heart. Now if only he could do the same for her mind.
Jae's happy mood was soon crushed when Miah opened again. “I found something. Suho let me see that book.” Jae glared at them. Their hands brushed when he passed Miah a red leather bound book; she didn’t miss the blush that reached both of their cheeks. Is she trying to piss me off? Jae irrationally thought, her mind darkening again.
“I think this book has something to do with the town. With what’s going on here,” Miah continued. Jae knew exactly where she was going with that statement and it was definitely pissing her off. Eyes narrowed, she asked, “So you want to waht, stay in this hell hole? To find and solve for the mystery behind this monster ridden fog?”
Miah blinked, surprised at the anger in Jae's voice. “Well, if you say it like that…. Look I just want to- no I feel like I need to find out why all this is happening.”
“Miah are you out of your ing mind!?” Jae snapped, “Have you not been paying attention to wh
