L.Joe tossed the ball in the air before catching it again. He let out a sigh as he lies down on the couch with his head resting on top of Chunji’s lap. Chunji just stared at the ceiling, bored. Since school is only going to start until next week, they were left with nothing to do but hang around in their dorm.

Ricky continues to roll on the carpeted floor as he whines how bored he is.

“I WANNA DO SOMETHING.” Ricky screams in utter boredom.

 “Why don’t we go to my room and play something?” Niel teased Ricky and lies on the floor next to him. Ricky stopped rolling and looked at Niel with a pout.

“Changjo will kill me if he caught us in your room.” Ricky cries and crawls to hug Niel. Niel kicked Ricky away and sits up frowning, turning his head to look at L.Joe.

“Hyung!” He whines, obviously bored. If Ricky refused him, he’ll get the attention he wants from L.Joe then.

L.Joe purposely ignored Niel and looks up at Chunji.

“Where’s CAP?” He asked. Chunji shrugged and rests his head on the sofa.

“His grandmother called and asked him to come home.”

“Hyung!” Niel whined again. Chunji took one of the pillows on the couch and threw it at Niel.

“Quiet down, fishy.”

Niel made a cry and crawls towards Chunji and L.Joe. He hugged L.Joe’s leg and pouts at him.

“Hyung..” He continues to whine.

L.Joe looked down at Niel and chuckles. He loves it when Niel is seeking attention from him.

“Yeah, my love?”

“Play with me.” Niel pouted more and showed L.Joe his puppy eyes, ignoring what L.Joe had called him. He was used to L.Joe’s sweet words anyway. But he have to admit whenever L.Joe calls him sweet things, he feels weird fluffy thingy swimming in his tummy… Is that what you call butterflies in your stomach? Niel wasn’t sure but he liked the feeling.

Ricky crawls towards Niel and pulls his legs to him.

“I’ll play with you!” Ricky offers as they both lie on the floor, tugging on Niel’s legs. Niel looked behind at Ricky and struggles his legs free.

“No. You already refused me.” Niel frowned at Ricky. Ricky made a fake cry.

“That’s cause Changjo will kill me if he sees us in your room.”

“But we’re not going to do anything wrong!” Niel counters. “Wait, what do you think we’re gonna do in my room?” Niel teased. Ricky let go of Niel’s legs and blushed.

“N-nothing!” He defended and stood up. Niel laughs and reaches out to catch Ricky’s legs. Oho, he wouldn’t let Ricky go this time, especially knowing that their innocent Ricky is thinking of something else, something that interests Niel and that he had in mind was what Ricky is thinking. He wouldn’t let him go not until Ricky tells him what he’s asking for.

“Yah! Tell me!” Niel continues to tease, laughing. L.Joe and Chunji just shook their head at their playful maknaes.

Ricky tries to kick Niel away but he wouldn’t let go.

“TELL ME!!!” Niel orders.

“FINE FINE. CHANGJO IS POSSESSIVE OF YOU OKAY?”

“Possessive of who?” Everyone turned their head to the source of the voice. Changjo closed the door behind him by his foot and raised his eyebrows at everyone.

Niel let go of Ricky’s legs and sits up properly. L.Joe and Chunji just shrugged and continues to stare into space. Ricky pouted and stormed towards the kitchen.

Changjo blinks when he didn’t receive an answer as he watched Ricky leave.

“What’s up with him?” He couldn’t help but ask in worry.

“Where did you go?” Niel asked, scratching his chin. Changjo made his way and sits on the single couch, crossing his legs.

“Anyone up for going shopping?” Changjo offered, ignoring Niel’s question. Since he knows his hyungs doesn’t have anything else to do, he wanted to ask them to go out.

Chunji raised his hand up.

“I’ll go. Damn I wanna go meet up with my girls rather than stay here.”

L.Joe scoffs and crossed his arms.

“You should’ve left earlier if you want.”

“How can I leave if you’re using my lap as your pillow?” Chunji defended blindly.

“Aw. I didn’t know you care.” L.Joe purrs. Niel frowns and looks away. He felt left out of their conversation. Niel doesn’t understand the turning of his stomach when he saw L.Joe act like that towards Chunji.

“Stop it guys. You’re disgusting.” Changjo rolled his eyes at the couple. He caught Niel’s frown and raised his eyebrows in concern.

“Hey, something wrong?” He asked, poking Niel by his foot. Niel broke his gaze on the couple and forced out a smile at Changjo.

“When are we leaving?” He asked instead, leaning his weight on his arms behind him. It was another thing that confused Changjo, he would know when Niel is troubled but he couldn’t get his hyung tell him what troubles him. He knows it’s not his business so he tries to understand his hyung and knows his place. If Niel doesn’t want to tell him, it’s okay, he respects him for that.

“Go wash up, then we’ll leave.” Changjo answers, ignoring L.Joe and Chunji’s love quarrel. Niel grins and stood up before going to his room to change. But before going to his room, he gave L.Joe and Chunji a quick glance.

Changjo noticed this and followed Niel’s line of gaze. What’s wrong with Niel? Changjo thought in wonder but chose to ignore.

‘I’ll ask him when the right time comes.’ He thought.

At the mall.

Niel had the things he bought inside the paper bags he’s holding, same goes for Changjo as they continue to wonder around the mall. Chunji’s sudden disappearance didn’t bother the two. He’s most probably with his girls. But L.Joe’s sudden disappearance did bothered Niel.

“Where do you think L.Joe hyung go?” Niel asked as he walked side by side with Changjo, unknowingly pouting his lips. Changjo nodded his head once, not knowing the answer. He doesn’t care where they go to be honest. He just wanted to clear his mind, and buying the things he want can help him with that.

Niel heaved out a heavy sigh when his question wasn’t answered.

Changjo glanced at him.

‘Why is he acting like that?’ He thought. Niel’s eyes brightened when a store caught his eyes. He grinned and tugged on Changjo’s arms like a kid.

“Wait here. I’m just gonna buy something!” He grins and excitedly pointed at an icecream store. He gave Changjo his shopping bags and darts off at the store without another word, falling in line at the process to take and buy his order.

Changjo chuckles and took the bags Niel trusted him to. He made sure to list down that Niel is addicted to icecream. He thought that this tiny detail might be useful in the future.

It amused him to know how childish his hyung can get with the things around him. How his hyung would get too giddy and excited when he sees something he really wants; just like how a kid is.

“I sometimes wonder who’s the hyung between us, Niel.” Changjo couldn’t help but smile as he watch Niel from not afar.

Somewhere near, a girl wearing fashionable clothes and shades were wondering around the mall too. She had her chin raised as she walks like a model in ramp. It’s hard for anyone not to notice someone like her who looks prettier than an idol, almost all the guys that she passed by would look at her in awe. Haemi’s perfectly aware of the attention everyone is giving her and in fact, she’s enjoying it.

She flips her hair to her side and smiled crookedly, proud of herself that she’s able to lose her guards again. ‘Free at last~’ She singsongs in her head.

She stopped abruptly when something caught her eyes. She slowly tugged her shades down to clear her vision as she examines the boy from a few feet away.

“Isn’t that… Jong Hyun??” She gasped and a quick smile appeared on her red lips.

She quickly made her way towards him. She halted into a stop and fixed her hair first before checking herself in the mirror to make sure her makeup is still intact.

After making sure that she still looks pretty (which is always), she then sneaks behind Changjo to surprise him.

Changjo had his eyes on Niel, watching him fall in line. He had things running in his mind, firstly the decisions his father had made. But something recently really had caught his attention. And it was Niel.

Haemi stopped and blinked. She dropped her smile and noticed that Changjo’s guard was down, which is very rare. She do admit that whenever she’s on the same place with him, Changjo would immediately know it and leave, like he has a tracker on her. She’s aware of the hate feeling Changjo’s having for her, but she ignores it. She knew if she keeps on trying to get his attention, he might fall for her. But now, it puzzles her as to why Changjo hasn’t noticed her yet.

Curious to what made Changjo drop his guard down, she followed Changjo’s line of gaze and saw the girl she was with days ago.

“Omo, it’s her.” She squeaked in excitement, seeing Niel in a line. “If she’s here, it would be better to make friends with her.” She giggled and withdraw her attention from Niel to Changjo.

She proceeds and tap Changjo’s shoulder from behind. Changjo whirled around and his eyes widened.

“.” He doesn’t even care if he curses in front of a girl. Specially this girl.

“Annyeong Jong Hyun~” She greeted sweetly and gave Changjo a very bright smile, almost blinding him.

Changjo stared at her in alarm. ‘What the crap is she doing here?’ He thought in bewilderment. Seeing her is the least thing he wanted to happen.

“So~ what are you doing here?” She asked, batting her long fake eyelashes. Changjo doesn’t even seemed fazed at her beauty and just scowled in annoyance.

“What do you expect I’ll do in a mall? Go for a swim?” He asked, his voice dripping with full sarcasm.

Haemi giggled at him and shook her head, used at his cold attitude towards her.

“Silly, so you’re here for shopping too?” She asked, using her cute tone. Changjo just sighed. He couldn’t do anything now that she’s here.

“Yeah. I need new things.”

“I see.” She smiled sweetly. “Do you mind if I tag along?” Her smile widened, almost reaching her ears.

Changjo started to panic inside but kept his cool.

“No.” He says firmly.

Haemi pouted.

“Why not? It would be fun!” She squealed.

“We can’t. I have a girlfriend.”

Changjo blurted out without even thinking; eyes wide as those four words left his mouth.

“Actually… I’m with her right now so you should leave.” Changjo says immediately, trying to get the girl leave.

“And you should leave before she sees you.” He cleared his throat and shifted uncomfortably.

‘Damn, what did I just get myself into? I don’t even have a girlfriend in fact.” He scolded his self as he looks straight to the girl in front of him. He’s screwed. He knows it.

 “Girlfriend? You never mentioned you have one.” Kim Haemi blinked unbelievingly, suspicious. She gripped on her bag tightly, slightly angered by the fact that Changjo is having a secret affair without her knowing. “So you’re with her right now? I want to meet her.” She said firmly. Changjo furrowed his eyebrows. This is one of the reasons why he doesn’t like this girl. She always sticks her nose to someone else’s business. And the most thing that irritated him about her, is that she acts like his girlfriend.

‘Can’t this girl just leave me alone?’ Changjo growls in annoyance and looks back at Niel. ‘What’s taking him so long?’

Kim Haemi followed Changjo’s line of gaze and she gasped. Clearly misunderstanding what she saw. “Omo. Don’t tell me… she’s your girlfriend?!?” She accusingly points a well manicured finger at Niel’s direction busy paying for his icecream. The tone of her voice clearly shows that she disapproves of them.

Since Changjo said that he’s with his girlfriend, she immediately assumed that it’s Niel since she knows they know each other. And what else would a guy and a girl do together out and alone? Having a date is the answer. And if they date, they should be at least a couple right? And this upsets Haemi.

Changjo fidgeted uncomfortably as he starts to formulate an escape to this mess. His eyes followed Haemi’s finger and he was surprised where it landed.

“Niel..?” He was dumbstruck. –so she thought Niel is a girl? What surprised him the most is that Haemi even mistook Niel as his girlfriend. This left him dumbfounded.

After paying for his icecream, Niel went back to Changjo’s side. He smiled at Changjo and noticed the girl beside him.

“Oh. Hi.” He waved a hand at her and showed her one of his friendly smile. He didn’t even recognized her; the girl he helped a few days ago.

The girl scoffs and crossed her arms in an annoyed manner. It’s clear that she doesn’t like Niel one bit and she’s making sure to make Niel know that. She rolled her eyes at Niel and turned her attention back to the man her parents had arranged for her to marry. It’s official, she doesn’t like this girl anymore. She’s no longer on Haemi’s friend’s list.

“Answer me, Jonghyun.” She firmed her lips and waited impatiently for Changjo’s answer.

Niel just stared back and forth between Changjo and Haemi, oblivious of the thick tension in the air around them.

Changjo just sighed and cleared his throat. What the hell is he supposed to do now? He moved his eyes and glanced at Niel from the corner of his eyes. Niel looks feminine by his appearance. He’s too pretty and slim to be a boy; someone like Haemi could really mistake him as a girl.

Niel turned his head and gave Changjo a questioning gaze.

“Changjo?” He doesn’t even have a clue what was happening.

Changjo didn’t hear him. He was too caught up in his thoughts to even notice Niel’s look.

Niel could even fool anyone if he says he’s a girl. Heck he can be Changjo’s girlfriend if he wants to.

Then it hit him. Hard.

A mischievous smile appeared on Changjo’s lips when he thought of an idea.

Perfect

He instantly threw his arm around Niel’s shoulder, surprising the other male.

“Yeah. Meet Niel…” He trailed and turns his head to look at Niel with a loving smile before giving his cheeks a light peck. Niel widened his eyes at the sudden action and attention Changjo is giving him.

“My girlfriend.”

Niel choked.

Haemi furrowed her eyebrows.

“What?” It doesn’t even sound like a question anymore.

Changjo just smiled and rubs Niel’s arms nervously. ‘What has I gotten myself into?’ Changjo scolded his self.

Niel turned to Changjo in horror.

“What. Did. You. Say?” He asked, eyes twitching. Changjo let out an awkward laugh before leaning towards Niel’s ear to whisper.

“Hyung. Please, play with me.” He says under his breath. Niel slightly shivered from Changjo’s hot breath on his ears. Niel got the idea Changjo had in his mind. It hit him and he let out an ‘Oh~’ in understanding. It’s just a play anyway. Niel can do that.

Haemi narrowed her eyes as she watch Changjo leans on Niel’s ear.

“Since when?” Heami says in between gritted teeth but still she managed to force out a fake smile.

Changjo pulled away from Niel but kept his hold around him. He showed Haemi a confident smile and pulls Niel closer.

Niel gulped and forced out a smile.

“Two years and seven months.” Changjo answers. Niel looked at Changjo in confusion, completely forgetting his icecream in his hand. ‘Isn’t that the time where Teen Top was formed?’ He thought.

Haemi tightened her grip on her bag and kept the forced smile on her face.

“Why didn’t you mentioned about this back in your house?” She asked, voice cracking.

Niel looked at her in pity. Even though she’s still showing her brave act, Niel can still see what she’s feeling inside. She’s slowly falling apart.

“I don’t believe you. I don’t believe she’s your girlfriend! I need proofs! Tell me!” She started to lose her cool.

“As much as I want to tell you my lovely stories with Niel. I can’t, cause we have to go and proceed on our date.” Changjo says as he removes his arm around Niel before taking his hand, intertwining their fingers together. It’s clear Changjo is enjoying the show he’s making.

“Niel-ah, let’s go.” He tugged on Niel’s hand before walking away, bringing their shopping bags with them. ‘L.Joe hyung was right. His idea actually worked.’ Changjo thought and smirked, taking note that he have to thank his hyung for that.

Niel hesitated and looks back at Haemi in concern.

Haemi had her head lowered. She felt humiliated. She felt hurt.

“I’m sorry..” Niel thought and let Changjo pulls him away.

Haemi looked up and watches Changjo leaves with his girlfriend. She looked at them with hatred in her eyes. “So that’s how you wanted things to be?” She slowly raised her chin as confidence starts to build up inside her again. “So you’re up for a challenge.” She smiled crookedly and wipes her teary eyes as though she was never hurt with the little show Changjo had a few moments ago.

“I’ll play your games, Jonghyun. I won’t give up on us. I won’t give up until you’re mine.” She vows and straightens up before leaving, nose sticking up in the air. ‘But…” She glanced at her fingernails. “… before that, I need a new manicure.” She pouted and huffs.
