Shin Seung Hoon- What do I do?
--------
It was a warm, summer day.
The tree was bright green, and its leaves protected Luhan and Haewon from the hot sun.
For some reason that day, Haewon was being more playful than usual. While Luhan tried to read his history book, she would stop him from reading somehow. She either covered the book or his eyes.
“The Samhan were located in the southern region of the Korean Peninsula-“
Hands waved in front of his eyes.
Luhan looked up from the book and blinked at Haewon. Smiling, she placed her hands over the book. “No.”
“You’re going to get me in trouble.” He wrote on her hand.
“You’re the one, not me.” Haewon shrugged. *Aigoo.* Luhan pinched her cheek with an affectionate smile.
“Okay, okay.” Haewon took her hands away. Luhan attempted to read the book again.
This time however, she covered his eyes.
“Haewon.” Luhan wrote on her arm and gently pried her hands away.
Haewon giggled. “This is fun.”
He smiled with loving eyes. His gaze fixated on her pink lips. They seemed even plumper today.
Luhan tenderly her cheek as he peered at her lips. *So pink.* Luhan leaned in closer towards her face. Her lips slightly parted, and he could feel her warm breath on his skin. His lips tingled as they longed to touch hers. Luhan tilted his head and slightly closed his eyes.
Before he could meet her lips, she suddenly pushed him away. Flabbergasted, Luhan looked up at her.
“Can’t catch me!” Haewon stuck out her tongue. Laughing, she sprinted away.
Luhan shut the book and stood up. He watched her run across the meadow and towards the school. She looked back with a big grin and rosy cheeks.
Haewon waved, despite the fact that he might not be looking her way.
Luhan smiled softly and waved back, despite the fact that he knew she couldn’t see him.
Giggling, Haewon raced back to the school. She had to slow down when her feet touched the concrete. Running on grass, she could manage without any acute scrapes. On concrete, however, the story was different. She could trip and crack her head in two.
Haewon felt her way to the front entrance and entered the school.
“Unnie, your aunt is here.” One girl informed.
Haewon blinked. “My aunt?” *No one told me though.*
“She’s in the office.” The girl stated.
“Oh. Okay. Thanks, Hyeri.” Haewon began to make her way towards the director’s office. She heard voices coming from inside and recognized one of them as her aunt’s. *Why didn’t she come find me?* Haewon was about to enter but stopped when she overheard their conversation.
“-but Inhee, I don’t understand. Haewon really likes it here. Why do you have to move her out of the school?” Director Nam asked.
Her blood ran cold. *M-move me out of the school? What is he talking about?* She leaned in to hear better.
“I know she likes this school a lot. It’s been her home for four years. But you knew one day, she would have to leave. It’s the same for all the kids here. They can’t stay here forever. They have to grow up at some point.” Inhee pointed out. At that, the director was silent.
She continued, “I don’t want to make her leave either, but I have no choice. I got a new job, a better paying job across the world. It might be hard at first, but Haewon will adjust to life in Canada.”
*Canada?* Haewon’s knees buckled, and she collapsed onto the ground. She couldn’t believe she had to move away from Luhan. Moving away was bad enough, but migrating to a different country?! Canada was far, far away from Korea. She would never be able to see Luhan if she wanted to.
“There’s a nice college there. The fashion company I work for will provide the financial aid I need to send her there. It’s a great opportunity. I don’t want to let this chance go for the both of us. I hope you understand.” Inhee pleaded.
*No, no. I don’t understand. I don’t want to go to Canada. I want to stay right here with the people I love!* Haewon felt tears trickling down her face.
Director Nam sighed. “I can’t force you to let Haewon stay. You are her guardian, and therefore, it’s your decision.”
“Thank you. I appreciate that.” Inhee nodded. She got up and walked to the door. “It’s going to be hard telling Haewon, but I’m sure she’ll understand-“
Inhee gasped when she saw her niece on the floor with tears spilling down her cheeks. “H-Haewon! D-did you…” She glanced at Director Nam who looked troubled. Inhee gulped. “Did you hear our conversation?”
“Yes, I heard you. I heard we were moving. I heard you were taking me to Canada.” Haewon stood up and wiped her tears away. “But you know what? I’m not going.”
Her aunt gasped, “Wonnie-ah-“
“I’M NOT LEAVING HERE! YOU CAN’T MAKE ME!” She whirled around and started running. She lost track of where she was going, but she couldn’t stop running now.
“Haewon! Cho Haewon! You stop right there! You’re going to get hurt!” Her aunt shrieked.
Haewon continued
