Mandy Moore- It's Gonna Be Love

-------------------------

A week had gone by since Haewon and Luhan had reunited. They were living in ignorant bliss away from reality. At this moment in time, nothing could wedge between them. They were in paradise and blinded by the pending question looming over their heads.

How long would this happiness last?

It was May 21st, which meant it was time for her birthday again.

Haewon and Luhan went to the marketplace and bought supplies for tonight’s dinner celebration. Holding hands, they walked across the dirt path towards the institution. Haewon suddenly gasped and ran forward. “It’s the meadow!” Confused, Luhan followed her to the verdant field of beautiful yellow flowers. Haewon stooped down and inhaled the sweet, floral scent. She opened her eyes with a bright smile. “So pretty…”

Luhan watched her with a tender expression. *Wǒ měi lì de gōng zhǔ, you shine in this world like no one else. I can watch you forever, and I’ll be content for the rest of my life.*

Haewon looked at him, and her smile grew wider. She tilted her head and held her hand out. “Come with me, please?” Luhan willingly stepped forward and took her hand.

They treaded into the meadow and soon became lost in the tall grass. Haewon pulled away from him and stepped forward into the fertile space with no flowers in it. She held out her arms and circled around with her head tilted up towards the sky. Haewon closed her eyes and embraced the sun. The sunshine felt warm against her skin and made her feel joyful. She would cherish this perfect moment forever.

Haewon lowered her arms and opened her eyes. She saw Luhan curiously watching her. Haewon smiled and rushed up to him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and looked up at him with laughter in her eyes. He chuckled and shook his head. Haewon took the grocery bags from him and placed them on the ground. “Come on! Let’s explore!” She wrote on his palm.

Luhan smiled and began to investigate the lush meadow. He had always seen this pasture, but he had never actually ventured into it before. Haewon touched the smooth blade of the tall grass and took a picture of a ladybug resting on one of the flowers. She turned around and saw Luhan freely exploring the area as well.

Smiling softly, Haewon aimed her camera at him. *I want to cherish you in my heart forever.* She captured many candid photos of him.

At the last click, Luhan turned his head and caught her taking pictures of him. Haewon flushed and put the camera down. She gave him an uncertain smile, wondering if he was mad at her for taking photos of him without his knowing. Of course, Luhan wasn’t angry. He smiled back and waved.

Haewon skipped up to him. “Let’s take a picture together.” Luhan nodded. This would be their first photo together. They stood side-by-side with her head inclined towards him. Haewon got on her tippy-toes and stretched her arm further upwards. “Ready?”

Luhan placed a hand on her waist to steady her balance.

“One.” She held her fingers out as she counted. “Two. Three.” Click!

“One more!” Haewon declared. She had a tough time staying up on her tippy toes though. Luhan chuckled and took the camera from her. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and aimed the camera at their faces. Luhan leaned down so that his cheek touched hers. Her heart thumped loudly in her chest, and she hoped that he couldn’t witness her rosy, flustered cheeks.

“One.” He held one finger out. “Two. Three.”

Haewon smiled. Luhan took the picture and gave the camera back to her. They checked the pictures and were satisfied with them.

“I’m going to pick some flowers. We can decorate the dining hall with them. I’ll be right back.” Haewon sprinted away. Fifteen minutes later, she had a bundle of flowers in her hands. Gripping onto them, she made her way back. However, everything looked the same. Grass was everywhere. Flowers were everywhere. She couldn’t look above the tall plants to find Luhan.

Haewon began to panic. Her heart pounded in her ears as she spun around searching for him. All she saw was grass, grass, and more grass. “Luhan oppa…Oppa…” Haewon whispered. *I’m lost. I can’t find you. You’re not here. I don’t see you anywhere. Oppa, where have you gone?* Her eyes darted around the area, desperately hoping to catch a glimpse of Luhan. Her hands grew clammy, and she begin to hyperventilate.

“Luhan oppa!” She screamed, despite the fact that he wouldn’t be able to hear her.

Tears clouded her vision. “Luhan oppa…oppa…” Haewon began to cry. She heard something snap behind her and spun around.

Luhan was standing in front of her with an alarmed expression. “Haewon, are you okay? What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” He signed, forgetting momentarily that she couldn’t understand sign language yet. He was just so shocked by the tears on her face that he madly began to sign, wanting to fix everything that had made her upset.

At once, relief flowed through her body. *Luhan oppa…I never want to be apart from you again.*

Haewon dropped the flowers and ran towards him. She threw her arms around his neck and cried into his shoulder. Stunned, Luhan stood there with a bewildered expression. *Cho Haewon. What frightened you so?* He wrapped his arms around her body and held her protectively close.

“I was so scared.” Haewon whispered as she wrote the words on his back. “I’m afraid of losing you.”

Luhan smiled softly and traced his reply on her back. “Babo Haewon. I’m not going anywhere. You’ll never lose me, and even if you do, I’ll find you one way or another.” She closed her eyes in comfort. Slowly, he pulled away from her and searched her tearstained face. Luhan wiped the remaining tears from her face. “Who knew Cho Haewon was such a crybaby?” He smiled affectionately, “Shall we go home?”

Haewon rubbed her eyes and nodded.

Luhan grasped her hand and led her through the tall grass.

Haewon clutched tightly onto his hand, vowing to not let him out of her sight ever again.

----

Haewon wanted to stay glued by Luhan’s side, but he insisted she go get ready for the birthday dinner. He wanted to prepare the surprise on his own. Haewon took a shower, changed into comfortable striped sweater and denim shorts, and sat on her bed. *What do I do for the next couple hours?* She wondered. The loud shrill of the phone m
