Winter Sonata- Only you (Instrumental)

---------------

Snow.

Slippery.

Fly.

Roll.

Tumble.

Break.

Stop.

Silence.

Cold.

White.

Red.

Warm.

Explosion.

Pain.

Black.

Darkness.

Then darkness.

And more darkness…

---------------------

“What’s going on?!”

“There was an accident on the mountain! The road was slick with snow, and a van fell off a cliff!”

“How many? How are they?”

“Three. I checked their vitals. Two are already dead. One person, this girl, is alive, but she’s very weak. She hurt her head badly.”

“Move her to the operation room now! She’s in critical condition! If we don’t act now, she might lose her life!”

“Yes, doctor!”

“And get in contact with her guardian!”

“Yes, sir!”

----------------------

How many days had she been unconscious?

Three? Four?

Maybe it had been a week.

Maybe it had been a month.

Cho Haewon didn’t know.

Slowly, she began to gain consciousness. Her fingers twitched several times. Her sluggish body seemed to respond to her senses. Slowly, she was able to become mobile again. She raised her finger and exhaled. A dull ache throbbed in the back of her skull. Haewon struggled to open her eyes but couldn’t.

Something was bound over her eyes.

It seemed to take her hours to just move her hand. Slowly, she reached up and touched her eyes.

The only thing she felt was soft cotton.

There was a rapid clicking of heels. The door opened, and someone screamed. “Wonnie-ah!” Someone shrieked.

From the nickname, Haewon could tell the person who had screamed was her father’s sister, the only other family she had beside her parents. *But what is Auntie Inhee doing here? She lives in Japan.* Haewon was confused.

“Oh God. She’s awake! She’s finally awake!” The woman in her early thirties dashed out of the room, and she was left alone once again.

Haewon touched the bandage over her eyes. She tried to take it off but couldn’t. Something was wrong. Why had someone cruelly stuck this bandage over her eyes? She couldn’t see anything, and that scared her a little. Being the quiet, composed girl she was, she remained still.

Haewon tried to remember what had happened. All she recalled was the horrible sound of tires squealing as the van dove off the cliff. There was a loud shatter by her side, and then she remembered no more.

Haewon held her breath and counted to ten. If her aunt wasn’t back by then, she would do something. *Eight. Nine. Ten-*

The door flew open.

“There, doctor! See! She’s awake!” Her aunt screamed.

The doctor and nurse quickly ran inside. “Young girl-“

“Her name is Haewon.”

“Haewon, can you hear me?” The doctor asked. Slowly, she nodded. She could hear her aunt squealing in…joy?

“Good. Welcome back.” The doctor nodded to the nurse who took her temperature and blood pressure. “She seems okay, doctor. Both are normal.” She reported.

“That’s good.” The doctor nodded. Then he exchanged glances with her aunt. Now came the hardest part of all.

“Okay, I’m going to help you up, Haewon.” The doctor gripped her arms and pulled her up.

Her body felt stiff. She felt as if she was going to lose her balance and topple over any second. *How long have I been out for? Was the accident that bad? Where are mom and dad? Did they wake up already?*

“Now…I’m going to take this bandage off. I don’t want you to open your eyes though. Not yet. You got that?” The doctor asked.

Haewon nodded.

“Good.” The doctor nodded at the nurse and held out his hand. She gave him a pair of scissors, and he snip off the knot. Then bit by bit, he unraveled the bandage. The soft material fell off her face, and she was met with a refreshing breeze.

“Can I…open my eyes?” Haewon softly croaked. felt dry and cracked. She hadn’t spoken in a while.

The doctor slowly nodded, “Go ahead.”

“Oh, please.” Her aunt whispered and clasped her hands together in prayer.

Haewon took a deep breath. Then, with deliberation, she proceeded
