Hwayobi- Only You

--------------------

It was an idyllic afternoon. The sun was out, and fluffy clouds drifted across the blue sky.

Haewon and Luhan were lying side by side. Their gazes were fixed on the sky, but their hearts were beating for each other like always.

“I see a horse.” Luhan wrote on her hand. “Where?” Haewon asked.

He pointed to a white cloud that was shaped somewhat like a stallion. “I see a sheep.” She played along.

“Silly Haewon. They all look like sheep. They’re all white bits of fluff. If you see sheep, I see cotton.” Luhan chortled.

Haewon stuck out her tongue. “Meanie.” She muttered under her breath.

Luhan smiled and tilted his head her way. He nudged her side to make sure she wasn’t ticked off. Haewon turned her head his way.

“I see a heart.” Luhan wrote on her arm. “Where? I don’t see one.” Haewon squint her eyes and peered up at the clouds.

“Right here.” Luhan raised his arms and formed a heart with his hands.

Haewon softened. Her irritation vanished immediately. She looked at him and chuckled softly. *Cheesy oppa.* Luhan turned his head and met eyes with her. Smiling, he gently knocked his forehead against hers. A bubble of laughter rose from . Luhan looked up at the sky again with his head nestled against hers. *My heart is so warm right now.* He slipped his hand into hers and weaved their fingers together.

Luhan lifted up her hand into the air. Their Braille bracelets hung from their wrists.

*Luhan and Haewon together forever.* They both thought with smiles playing on their faces.

Something sparkly caught his eye, and he squint on eye to get a better look. *It’s a diamond ring. I notice that she never takes that off. Is it her favorite jewelry, or is there a special meaning attached to it?* Luhan lowered their intertwined hands to get a closer look at her ring. “What is this?” He asked. Haewon realized he was talking about the engagement ring, and her smile faded immediately. “I haven’t seen you take it off since you got here. Is it a symbol of love?” Luhan teased.

It was a joke, but Haewon paled. *Did he figure it out? No, he can’t have. He doesn’t even know about Kris oppa.* With an elusive expression, she changed the subject. “Do you still solve Rubik’s Cubes?”

Luhan gave her a smile before pulling one out of his pocket. Haewon rolled her eyes. “You would.”

He laughed and began to solve it. She watched in amazement as his fingers worked quickly over the shapes.

His fingers became a blur, and before she knew it, the cube was deciphered.

Luhan held it out in front of her. Haewon stared at it in amazement.

“Do it again.” She commanded. He smiled and mixed up the colors. Once again, he solved the cube in no time.

“That is so cool…” Haewon whispered. She took the cube and began to play with it in her hands.

“Where’s your cube?” Luhan wrote on her arm.

“On my desk. I take it with me wherever I go, hoping I’ll solve it one day.” Haewon replied.

Luhan sat up with round eyes. “You didn’t solve it yet?” Haewon shook her head. “It’s too hard.”

“It’s the easiest thing in the world.” He disagreed. “For a Rubik’s Cube genius like you, maybe.” She traced on his arm. “Want to help me?”

Luhan grinned and shook his head. “You need to figure it out on your own. I’m not going to help you cheat.” “But it’s so hard.” Haewon pouted.

Luhan bent down over her and gently tapped the end of her nose. He her cheek with the back of his fingers and wrote on it. “You can do it. I believe in you.”

“I hope I won’t let you down.” She sighed.

*You won’t.* Luhan felt confident of that. He lay on his side with his elbow propped up and his head resting in his palm. Haewon blinked once, twice, and her eyelids lowered. Luhan glided his palm over her face. “Sleep.” He wrote on her hand. Haewon closed her eyes and delved into a tasty afternoon nap.

Luhan watched her sleep. His heart was ready to burst in contentment. He slid his elbow across the grass so that his face was closer to hers. Luhan traced his fingertips over her facial features, from her perfectly waxed eyebrows to her kissable lips. *Gongzhu, ni hen mei li.* He closed his eyes, leaned in, and placed his lips against her cheek. He could stay in that position forever.

The mood was interrupted by a vibration in the pocket of her jacket. Luhan opened his eyes and pulled back. He looked down and realized someone was calling her. His eyes flitted back to her face. He didn’t want anyone to disturb her peaceful sleep. Carefully, Luhan pulled her phone out of the pocket. He checked the caller id and expected her aunt to be calling.

However, it was a name foreign to him.

*Kris? Who is that?* Luhan searched Haewon’s sleeping face for answers.

The phone finally stopped ringing. He placed the phone down only to have it vibrate with a new text message.

Luhan didn’t know what had overcome him, but he automatically opened the message. *Oh, no. What did I do? I shouldn’t be snooping around in her phone.* He was about to exit, but his eyes roamed over the three English words that he even understood. I miss you.

*I miss you? Who would say that to Haewon?* Luhan wondered, suspicion crawling up his skin.

Sometime later, Haewon opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was Luhan. He was laying next to her with his gaze fixated on her. Her cheeks reddened. *Was he watching me sleep? How embarrassing.* Haewon touched her lips to make sure she hadn’t drooled. “How long have I been sleeping for?”

Luhan held up two fingers. “Two minutes?” She asked, disoriented. He shook his head.

Her eyes popped out. “TWO HOURS?!” He nodded.

“Oh my gosh…why didn’t you wake me up?!” She turned crimson. He shrugged with a kind smile.

“Babo.” Haewon poked his forehead. *Bai chi.* Luhan thought with a smile.

She sat up and shook grass off her back. He got up also and held out her phone. “Someone called.”

Haewon gave him a curious look. She checked her phone, and her eyes widened. *Kris oppa called me. Shoot. Did Luhan oppa see?* Luhan could read the perplexed emotions clouding her face and wondered what was wrong. They left the hilltop and came back into the dormitory.

“The grass is itchy on my skin. I’m going to take a quick shower.” Haewon gave him a small, unconvincing smile and headed to her room. Luhan tilted his head and scratched his temple. *Obviously something is bothering her. Or maybe I’m reading too much into things.* He shook away the dubious thoughts and headed to his own room.

Haewon closed the door and limply leaned against it. *I don’t know what to do. I can’t evade reality forever.* She paced around the room wondering what to do. When her phone began to vibrate in her hand, she froze. Haewon looked down while holding her breath. Her heart slammed against her ribcage when she saw the id. *Kris oppa, again. I s
