A reason
Before Your Eyes~Hana~
------------------------------
It was as if the wind was speaking to me, softly whispering in my ear as I embraced it lovingly, trying to make out the sound that it was saying.
"Hana? Where's the coffee?"
I spun around and was met with Grandma's gentle eyes. Her gray hair was shining in the sun as she smiled blisfully at me
"I'm sorry. I must have daydreamt again" I mumbled
Grandma chuckled
"This is your last day at the café and tomorrow you can go to the cabin. I'm sure your parents will be delighted after being away from you for 2 weeks"
I shrugged
"I don't see why I should go there. It's beautiful but.. what do they expect me to do there when my place is here?" I shrugged
"Spending time with family are never wrong. Remember that darling"
---
As I was driving, listening to the music I thought about Grandma's warm words. She was right. Of course spending time with family are blissful but, I didn't understand what I was suppose to do there for the time being. Well not that I had anything to do here downtown either. Maybe getting away from the hectic life would do me some good.
I parked the car outside the beautiful brown cabin. Mom and dad's car were neatly parked at the front and mom opened the door before I even had taken out all of my luggage
"Hana!"
I smiled warmly at my beautiful mom that ran towards me, embracing me tightly before giving me a soft kiss on my cheek. I saw dad waving by the front door
"We've missed you!"
I smiled
"I missed you too!"
"Let me help you. Your bedroom is already prepared and there is food if you'd like to eat. But I'm sure you're tired after driving for so long"
"I'm alright. But I'd like to take a shower though"
Mom nodded
This wasn't my first time in the cabin but I haven't visited this place since I was 8 years old. It's been awhile. I was busy with my own life, teenage life. High School, friends and worrying about proms and boyfriends, for no good. Never once did I find anyone that I could fall in love with and no matter how much I wanted to like someone, the feelings weren't there
I started to unpack my stuff hurriedly and when I was done I got into the shower and felt the warm beams hit my body as my muscles relaxed and I felt my breathing became calm and deep.
Maybe this wasn't so bad after all. I wouldn't mind relaxing a couple of days.
Memories started to flood my mind and I remembered my childhood, all the summers I spent here until I was 8. It was mangificant, wonderful and enjoyable.
Smilingly I stepped out of the shower and decided to take a walk in the beautiful moonlight. I changed into a long white summer dress and I brought a yellow cardigan just in case it would get cold. I looked at me own reflection, my skin shining due to the light in my room as my eyes were glowing. I guess this place made me happier than I thought it would
"Where are you going?"
I stopped by the front door as dad looked at me
"The lake"
"NOW?" He asked surprised
"Yeah, it's not dangerous and the lake is not far. I just want to... let the memories appear a bit you know. Being a bit nostalgic wouldn't hurt right?" I joked
Dad rolled his eyes
"Let her go. The lake is beautiful at night" Mom said
"Fine, just hurry" Dad said
I stepped outside the door and walked the familiar narrow path down to the lake like I had done so many times over and over when I was younger.
I smiled all by myself, taking deep breaths and felt every fresh oxygen in every nerve inside my body.
I got closer to the lake and to judge by the moon reflecting on the water, I couldn't be more happy to be able to see the beauty of it. I had never been able to absorb myself into that when I was younger but now, I cherished every moment.
I started to run, hurriedly since I wanted to get closer. Hurriedly, since I wanted to take a closer look
"LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The voice didn't have time to warn me in time before I completely fell over and rolled a few feet before stopping.
At first nothing was aching but then I heard steps getting closer. I sat up slowly and felt the knee getting a bit sore and numb and then the pain attacked me.
"Ouch"
"You're okay?"
He took off his jacket for me and covered my lap as I was lifting my dress, only to the point where I could see the wound on my knee. Blood
"That doesn't look so good"
His voice was husky, gentle and kind. I looked at the guy in front of me, not knowing what to say or to do as he looked at the wound for me.
"We should try to clean it a bit"
He looked up and I choked on my breath
His dark black gray eyes met mine instantly and a weird sensation, electrifying feeling ran through me, from my brain down to my toes. His skin was flawless, his nose high and his eyes deeply marked. His jawline was perfectly match to the beautiful face and his lips smiled gently at me, a bit confused perhaps but definitely gentle
"Can you walk?"
I swallowed hard and nodded
He helped me up and I was forced to lean onto him to be able to walk down to the lake
"I'm so clumsy.." I sighed
"Well I tried to warn you" He chuckled
I chuckeld as well
We got closer to the water and I sat down on a rock as I looked at him taking care of me. He dipped his fingers into the water and carefully started to clean my wound. I didn't feel a thing as I watched him, my eyes piercing at him.
"You should be careful. There are rocks everywhere and you can easily trip" He said
When he was finished he started to wipe away, just to get the wound dry with his sleeve
"I should do that!"
"No it's okay, it's just a... shirt" He said gently
I swallowed hard
"What are you doing out here so late anyways?" He asked again , sat up on the stone in front of me
"I.."
"You?"
"Used to come here before.. and I remembered going to this lake when I was a little girl.. and I wanted to see it"
"At this time of hour?"
"Defnitiely at this time of hour"
"Why?"
I smiled
"The beauty of the moon is reflected on the lake. It shimmers and when it is glittering like that, it looks like diamonds"
He nodded
"You should go home now. It will get darker soon and girls shouldn't be out here so late"
"What were you doing anyway?" I asked and stood up, following him. Wobbling of course but I still managed to follow him as he slowly walked away from the lake
"Evening walk"
"At this time of hour?"
He stopped in his tracks and looked at me
"I have a lot of things to think about"
"And you can't do that in daytime?"
He started to laugh
"You ask a lot don't you?"
"I... do" i stuttered
He smiled
"Just go home and patch that wound of yours. Nice to meet you Moon girl"
And with that he disappeared from me, walking into the woods and I heard his steps fading away.
I watched him until he disappeared and I then remembered that I was holding his jacket in my arms. I looked down at it, realizing that it was too late to call for him now
I smiled at the jacket as I touched it slightly
Now I had a reason to come back..
