“You sure you have everything?” Victoria had asked once more.
He rummaged through his bags one last time; just to double check now that Victoria made him doubt himself.
“Yes, I have everything.” Junsu zipped up his bag and hauled it over his shoulder before following Nichkhun and his dad out to the train station. “See you in a few days!” Junsu waved good-bye to Victoria and the little ones who stood at the front porch holding back their tears.
Nichkhun and his dad escorted Junsu to the train station. “Now, make sure you get off on the right stop. The next station after yours is about a day and a half away.” Nichkhun informed the younger.
“He’s right, now, I’m going to let you barrow this, I do need it back. This is just for emergencies, understand?” Junsu’s father handed him a small cell phone, nothing to fancy, just a basic flip phone.
“Are you sure?” Junsu hesitated to take it, but his dad just gave him a sweet smile and closed Junsu’s hand around the phone. “Yes, if you need anything, the house number is on speed dial.”
There was a whistle indicating that the train was now boarding, with one last hug, Junsu boarded the train as quickly as he could.
“Be careful!” Nichkhun called out.
“Call us when you get to your station!” Junsu’s dad called after.
Junsu waved through the window and soon the train was off.
Riding along the tracks, Junsu couldn’t help but smile to himself as he looked at the ring Chansung had given him months ago. It was Valentine’s weekend, and Junsu had planned a surprise trip to see Chansung.
-
After 3 hours, Junsu had finally arrived into the city. Stretching his aching body from sitting for too long, Junsu pulled out a slip of paper that contained the other’s address, calling for a taxi, Junsu asked to be taken to Chansung’s place.
Arriving to his destination, Junsu noticed that the lights were all off. “I wonder where Chansung is.” He knocked, but there was no answer. “When I called his mom earlier she said that there would be a key hidden under the rug.” He muttered to himself.
So not to be entirely rude, Junsu did call Chansung’s home a day earlier when he knew the other was at work. After explaining to Chansung’s mother that he was planning a surprise visit, she happily accepted and told him where the extra key to the house would be if Chansung wasn’t home by the time he arrived. Junsu was actually thankful that the latter wasn’t home, and that his mother was alright with his visit.
Pulling out the key he quickly unlocked the door and replaced the key. He removed his shoes and hid them in the shoe case so Chansung wouldn’t notice. Junsu made sure to keep the entry way and living room lights off, so the other wouldn’t notice. Escaping into the kitchen, Junsu had begun making his surprise Valentine’s Day meal.
“Ah, I still need to get a dessert.” Pulling his shoes back on and taking the spare key with him, he dashed to the nearest market.
-
It’s Saturday and Chansung was busy running back and forth between customers. All night it was ‘excuse me sir, I need…’ or ‘sir, where is my…’ Chansung couldn’t figure out why all of a sudden it was busy. All he had in mind was that he wanted to be done with work and to meet with his partner for a school project. “The world hates me today. Why is it so busy?” He whined as soon as he finally had a chance to breath.
Taecyeon couldn’t keep himself from chuckling at how much of a baby Chansung was being. “Well… It’s…”
“Order up! Table 3!” the cooked had called out interrupting the Taecyeon. “Just smile and wave, your shift is almost over.”
Heaving out a heavy sigh, Chansung got back up and continued serving his tables.
-
Around 5:30pm, Chansung was finally released from the crazy. Outside the café he works at he met up his class partner. “Sorry I’m late, didn’t mean to keep you waiting.”
“No, it’s alright. I figured you would be. Let’s go pick up something to snack on before we head to the library.” Chansung agreed and followed his partner to the nearest market.
-
Along the display cases there were cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more aligned along the wall. Junsu was conflicted on making a decision. “Chocolate or Strawberry… maybe I should do both…” he looked between the two small cakes, and after a good minute or two, he had decided on a chocolate dipped strawberry cake. Thanking the cashier, he made his way to the door, but something caught his attention, not waiting another minute he quickly made his exit.
-
Chansung was following his friend around the small market; he decided to carry their school bags while she picked out some light snacks for them to munch on and a surprise treat for her boyfriend who she was going to meet later that evening. “We only have about another page or two before we’re done with our project.” She had informed the other looking at the other selections. “Then we’ll ahead of everyone else.” Chansung just nodded along with what she was saying as he pushed her forward by her back as to keep up with the check out line. Suddenly a brief breeze of cool air had passed by him. Turning towards the exit, through the windows he could see the dark clouds starting to form. “It looks like it’s going to rain.”
-
Chansung ran home as the rain lightly sprinkled over him. It was passed 6pm, so he knew both his parents were already gone for work. Pulling out his house key, he went to unlock the door, but noticed that the door was slightly opened. He knew both his parents were not so careless. Taking great caution, he entered his home, keeping his shoes on, just in case he needed to make a run for it.
No one in the living room, he also noted that all the more valuable keepsakes to his family were still there. From the living room he roamed into the kitchen, which happened to be spotless. It was when he looked towards the dining table that he noticed that someone was there. Quickly, he flipped on the dining room light and just when he was about fight of the intruder; he recognized the familiar smaller frame, and the dark brown hair, which happened to be cover the tear stained cheeks and tearful eyes.
“J-Junsu? When? How… what are you doing here?”
Upon hearing his name being called by Chansung, he flinched. He tried to keep his composure as Chansung walked towards him, but all broke loose when Chansung placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Full of pain and sadness, Junsu abruptly stood from the chai
