Lost in Translation
"...... So that's our plan for next year. I hope we can gather more information in the future and we're really looking forward to work with you guys!" Tiffany Hwang, the brand manager for the milk product, ended her presentation perfectly with a confident smile. It was one of the annual meeting for the budget meeting, and all departments were expected to come and share their thought bout the next year project. Everyone in the room clapped for Tiffany, except Nana.
Mir, who happened to sit next to her, kicked her legs quite hard, making her gasped quite loud. Thank God the meeting was over, so everyone didn't really pay attention to Nana. She glared at Mir, but then joined everyone to clap for Tiffany.
"Ya, you dozed off again. How are you going to work properly if you keep sleeping like that? Did you sleep late again?" Mir asked her once they left the meeting room.
Nana pouted at him, walking with her notebook and laptop all along. "Can't you wake me up nicely?"
"I've tried, but you kept sleeping. Seriously, I've been calling your name more than 10 times and you still had your eyes closed. Stop staying up late, Jinah. We're not in university anymore where you can sloppily stayed late anytime you want" Mir said as he patted her shoulder.
"Yes, yes... I got it..." she replied, nodding her head.
Mir and Nana was university friend; he's majoring in finance, while Nana pursued business management. It's quite a relieved that she got someone she knew on the company, so she didn't feel lonely at the first three months of her trainee day.
"I'll go first, my sister coming from Japan today. Should be home to greet her" Mir bid her a goodbye.
She waved at at him and then walked herself to the pantry; there, she made herself a cup of coffee.
"Aren't you going home? It's late already" Yoona said when she saw Nana coming back to her seat at the office with a cup of coffee in her hand. Nana glanced at Yoona who happened to leave the office, she's already wearing her coat and brought her bag, along with several files.
"Lots of things to do, maybe one more hour?" she replied as she pointed her laptop and the folders that took much space of Nana's desk. Nana wished she had time to clean up her desk, it's been filled with files and folders only lately.
"Ok, take care! See you tomorrow" Yoona waved to her, leaving the office room.
The budget meeting ended a bit late today, but Nana got used to it. Since she first started as trainee here, she always coming back home late. Her mom often got worried, because Nana tend to drive a bit reckless at night, that's why she's afraid that Nana could get into accident if she came back home during night time. But as time goes by, her mother started to be less worry about it and got used to her late schedule.
Jaejoong was walking out from his room, waving at Nana. "Do you want to take a ride?"
"No, thanks. I bring my car today... Off now?"
Jaejoong nodded. "Yes, early flight tomorrow to Beijing. Please do me a favor during my leave, okay?" he said as he winked to her. Nana just smiled and nodded. "Get a life, Nana. Stop staying late at the office..."
"I'm coming home anytime soon. Take care, Sir"
Jaejoong chuckled and waved at her, leaving the office. It's now only Nana and several people from the Finance Department who stayed at the corner of the office. She stretched her body and turned to her laptop, the report that she made should be completed just in time, she only needed to revised the conclusion and she can be free. Without her noticed, it's 11 already. Nana yawned, blinked her eyes for several times before continued her work.
Bing!
An email popped up at the corner of the screen. Nana stopped typing, took of her glasses and clicked at the email. It was sent from the training academy of the company, informing her to complete the feedback for post-training; it's a week already after the training though. She reread the email and realized the list of names on the email, those were the participant of the training. Her eyes locked to one familiar name. Wu Yi Fan.
She hesitantly playing on her mouse, pointing to the internal communicator; one of the tools that can be used to chat with all employees of the company regardless the country they're staying in. Nana clicked on the search tab and typed Kris name. She waited for a while and found that Kris was online. Somehow, she felt a bit happy inside to find him online at this hour.
Once again, Nana being hesitant to herself. She's thinking several times whether to greet him or not, but then she ended clicking on his name and typed a short 'Hi'. She closed her face, being embarrassed but also curious to his respond.
Another "bing!" was heard and she saw a light popped at the bottom of the screen. It was Kris. Somehow, Nana formed a thin line with her lips as she saw his name on the screen.
Yi Fan, Wu : Hi, Miss Im! How are you?
Jin Ah, Im : Fine. How about you? :)
Yi Fan, Wu : Great. Anyway, isn't it supposed to be midnight there?
Yi Fan, Wu : You're still in the office?
Jin Ah, Im : Yeah, I'm about to go home though... What time is it now there?
Yi Fan, Wu : 5 in the morning
Jin Ah, Im : So early... Did you just awake or about to sleep?
Yi Fan, Wu : Just awake
Yi Fan, Wu : About to take my morning jog while checking on the email
Yi Fan, Wu : Aren't you going to go home, Miss Im?
Jin Ah, Im : Oh yeah, I need to go home
Jin Ah, Im : Or should I just stay here?
Yi Fan, Wu : Hahaha... Go home and sleep
Jin Ah, Im : I guess so
Yi Fan, Wu : See you soon
Jin Ah, Im : ? You're coming here?
Yi Fan, Wu : No
Yi Fan, Wu : I mean, see you soon again on this chat...
Yi Fan, Wu : We still can chat later on, right?
Nana couldn't hide her smile as she read his reply.
Jin Ah, Im : Sure. Ok, good morning.
Yi Fan, Wu : Good night :)

"What happened to you?"
Kris looked up from his laptop and turned to Tao who's sitting across him, staring at Kris with an intense look. He looked back at him with a confused look.
"What? Is there supposed to be something happened to me?" Kris replied.
"Something's fishy here... You come and go from the office on time, you're never staying late again here" Tao appointed his curiosity.
Kris frowned to his words, which in turn, making Chen who's passing the area looked at the two.
"What's up, Guys?" he joined at Kris' desk.
"Did you notice that Kris often come and go on time lately?" Tao said to Chen.
Chen scratched the back of his head, thinking. "Well I'm not sure about that... But isn't it a good sign? Kris is always a diligent person though..." Chen said with his smile, patted Kris' shoulder. Kris let out a chuckle as he saw disapprove look of Tao.
"What's wrong with me though? I'm just being a normal me..." Kris shrugged his shoulder.
"Hmm... Maybe not about your working time, but I do notice something's change". Both Kris and Tao raised their eyebrows, waiting for Chen to continue his words. "You didn't look stiff anymore... I mean, yeah you used to be as stiff as a rock, but now you're more like human. You smile. A lot" Chen added.
Tao smirked and nodded. "See? That's what I'm talking about. You, being all that happy and that's suspicious... What did you hide from us?"
"You speak nonsense. What would I hide from you all?" Kris irritated with Tao's question.
Was he really that stiff that once he beamed, it made him looked like he got a problem?, he thought.
"Are you secretly planning to quit from this office?" Chen asked Kris, making the latter grew his eyes bigger.
"What?!"
"Yeah, that's possible. You're doing interview at night at other company, that's why you're being diligent lately huh?" Tao assumed. Chen and Tao gave a suspicious look to Kris, he shook his head and decided to ignore them.
"You know what? God bless your imagination" he said as he went back to his laptop, while Tao still eyeing him, dissatisfied with the answer that Kris gave. "Go back to work" he hissed.
Suddenly, Yixing passed their desk and smiled with victory. "You guys want to know what's happening to our dearest Team Leader Wu?" he said as he showed a piece of paper, waving it at the top of Kris' head.
"What now?" Kris mumbled, ignoring Yixing who stood on the back.
"He didn't do anything wrong, he's just... in love" Yixing said as he smiled in satisfaction. Kris turned his head to him and found Nana's picture printed on the paper that Yixing brought.
Shoot, where the hell this dude got Nana's picture? Oh well, that picture was quite great though... I mean, she looked beautiful on that picture. Where was this taken? And her hair was...err, wait.
"What the-"
"Who is she?" Chen asked in confusion.
Tao's lips parted and formed an O. "Seriously? She's the girl that mistaken me for Yixing at the training in Macau, right? You DATE her?"
"Mind to explain?" Chen formed a time out sign with his arms. He didn't join the training, that's why he was being clueless all alone.
"Do you want to do this or I do this for you?" Yixing asked Kris, but before Kris could answer anything, he opened his mouth again. "Okay, I'll do this", he cleared his throat.
"Shoot" Kris mumbled in annoy as he shook his head.
"Im Jinah, usually called as Nana. She's working on the purchasing department, handling the Commercial Marketing division. Met with Kris the first time in Macau, they went on a date there and continued the relationship now.. through email and the office communicator. Let's congratulate our leader!" Yixing ended up his speech and quickly ran away from Kris' desk, afraid that he might be pulled by Kris anytime soon.
"Zhang Yixing! Did you stalk on me?!" Kris shouted to Yixing, but the latter acted like he didn't know anything and quietly sitting back to his seat.
Kris softly touched his forehead, facing the surprised look shown by Tao and Chen. "Yeah, we met in Macau and yes, we went around the city together but that wasn't a date. And no, we are not dating currently"
"Good luck with her, Dude! Never knew I'll finally saw you with a girl" Chen said as he patted Kris' shoulder. Kris glared at him, but Chen was too absorbed with the fact that Kris finally dating a girl that he ignored the look at Kris' eyes.
"Thanks a lot" Kris cynically said and gave a look to Tao. In turn, Tao nodded and mouthed "Good luck" to Kris, making him groaned. His working partners were all delusional people.
Kris looked up to his laptop again and found an email from Nana. He curled up a smile upon it. It seemed like he forgot already that he's annoyed previously by the guys teasing him about her and now, all he did is smiling toward her email.

Subject : Bored
Hi Mr. Wu,
Awaken this morning with the fact that I'm bored with my activities.
It's just a repetition of routines, I'm sick of it.
Sorry for suddenly bugging you with this kind of email.
But as long as I remembered, you said that you gave me permission to bug you whenever I'm bored.... So, yeah....

Kris reread the email. Once, twice, thrice... It's just a short email, and actually, he should be ignoring it for now as he got tons of emails waiting for his responds; but no, he ignored it. Usually, Kris would check all the emails, organized it from the most important one to the less one, but not this time. He reread the email from Nana again, forming a big smile on his face which Tao noticed as the sign of being in love.
Im Jinah, I don't know if I like the me when I'm with you...
But yeah, I like the way you make me feel even when you're nowhere near.

Nana almost jumped from her bed as soon as she saw Kris' reply towards her email to him 20 minutes earlier. She sensed expectation and hope piled up on herself, thinking of the 'what if' with him... She knew, she shouldn't be doing this, but her heart didn't listen. She took her phone and dialed a number, waiting for a while until the call was being answered.
"Hello?" A hoarse voice answered Nana's call. It was Yoona.
"Yoona, I need to tell you something"
Nana could hear Yoona groaned.
"Urgh, Nana... You know I always tell you everything and you can always tell me everything, but not now, Nana.. Not at..." Yoona blinked to the clock at the wall, paused her words. "Not at 5 in the morning..."
"Yeah I'm sorry... But, I just want to tell you this thing and all you have to do is listening..."
It's silence for a while before Yoona mumbled "Okay", letting Nana to talk.
"I must be crazy, Yoona..." Nana said with a hopeless voice.
"What? Oh come on, Nana..." Yoona groaned again. She's seriously annoyed by the fact that she's awaken too early just to hear Nana's rant. Yoona could hear Nana sighed on the phone, there's a dead air between them.
"Yoona... What to do? I think I'm in love..."
