Chapter 1

Hyukkie and I have been best friends ever since we were 5. Even though we are completely different, we still managed to stay friends through all these years. He was a dancer, played volleyball and basketball, and was popular with everyone. I on the other hand, played soccer and only had a small group of friends. Even though we have so many differences, there are a few things we have in common. Like our taste in music and our hatred of school.

We’ve always been close but recently I haven’t even talked to him for longer than three minutes. We text each other and talk online but I rarely see him in person anymore. He’s so busy with volleyball and I have off-season training for soccer. Not to mention we both have school work and finals since the school year is coming to a close.

I don’t ever see him in school anymore either. He is smarter than I am and ever since we entered high school he was always a class above me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dumb or anything. Hyukkie is just really smart. I swear he is practically perfect.

I have always admired him a lot. Whenever we see each other in school, it is just passing in the halls or a two minute conversation if we happen to bump into each other. We aren’t really drifting apart, it’s just that we are really too busy and our different friend groups prevent us from seeing each other during breaks or lunch.

Time sure has flown and we are both finishing up our 2nd year of high school. One more year left of high school and we are done! Hyukkie already turned 17 since his birthday is in April but since mine is in October, I’m still 16.

Ever since elementary school, Hyukkie and I have always had nicknames for each other. I’m the only one who calls him Hyukkie. Except his noona sometimes calls him that when she is trying to or make me angry. But we are close so I know she never really means anything by it. It is the same exact thing for him though. He is the only one who calls me Hae, save my oppa, who is in the same position as Sora unnie.

It’s kind of funny now that I think about it. Eunhyuk isn’t even his real name and I gave him another nickname. Donghwa oppa and Sora unnie tease the both of us because we get jealous easily when anyone else uses these nicknames. I stopped caring about that a long time ago though. It is something special Hyukkie and I share so I was to keep it like this forever.

Eww, that sounds sappy. Haha, I didn’t mean it like that but Hyukkie is a dear friend that I would never want to lose.
