Marriage?

Photo Freeze

A/N: Just a small note, the ages I'm going to put at the beginning of the flash backs (ex: age 5) are referring to Jiyong's age. So that makes Top one year older, Youngbae the same, Daesung one year younger, and Seungri 2 years younger. Ok? good.

Jiyong's POV

The next scene was taken on the day my parents bought me a huge set of play equipment that, at the time, felt like a little version of my own heaven. A red and blue swing set, small yellow slide, lime green monkey bars, I had it all.  Naturally I invited the whole gang to come wreck it with me, but what I didn't expect was the memorable conversation that took place on that same day.

Age 6

Daesung's POV

My shoelaces matched the blue swing set bars that held up the red seat I was balanced precariously on. I sometimes liked to lift one leg off the surface for added difficulty. The thrill of the fall enchanted me to continue the stunt until my muscles gave out. Slipping down the chains, my plopped onto the now dirtied swing and surveyed the scene around me.

The sun was still high up in the air, reminding me of how it looked back at the day care center's window. It used to be near, close enough to touch. But now it just seemed a million miles away. Maybe it was.

Jiyong and Seungri were inseparable ever since they met, the first hanging by his elbows onto the green monkey bars trying to shake off the latter who decided to wrap both arms around his legs and dangle from there. The slide was currently occupied by both Youngbae and Seunghyun, slipping down the yellow with arms wrapped around each other protectively. I felt my smile falter as I continued to stare, feeling like I was just as far away from them as the sun. I found myself stretching up until my belly button was showing from underneath my shirt towards the light to cover it from my view. Tumbling off of the swing in the process and earning me a face full of dirt.

"Are you ok?" I turned myself upwards until I was facing the sky, blinking a couple times before the figure in front of me came into full view. Abandoning his play toy; Seunghyun was there, surprisingly his face expressed something other then annoyance. Sometimes I really think he dislikes me, never laughing at my jokes, always calling me names and ignoring me when I try to talk to him; why would he care now?

He roughly grabbed my arm and yanked me off the ground. As soon as I was standing again, he let go, all physical contact seized from that point onwards. I tried not to think too much about it as the others made their way towards us.

"What happened?" Youngbae asked, brushing some mud off of my knees and arms. I shrugged his hands off of me, feeling different then when Seunghyun took my elbow. I snuck a glance at the older, but he was looking off into a distance completely uninterested in my injuries anymore. Whatever, I don't care.

The 5 of us sat down in a circle in silence, just enjoying the peace of the other's company. I would have totally missed Youngbae's small squeak of a question if I'd paid less attention. But the term he used was unfamiliar.

"Hey you guys... Do you know what 'marriage' is?"

I looked around for the answer as well, because even I didn't know. The youngest of the group's eyes popped open as wide as it would go, and that wasn't very big, before he stood proudly amongst us and held a finger up to hold our gaze. It wasn't a surprise really, since Seungri loved to be in the center of attention and seemed to want to grow up too fast for my liking. Of course he would know terms like this.

"Well, marriage is when two people decide to become parents! Then they have to spend their whole entire lives together, but beware: you can only marry once" Seungri ended, leaning forward with his voice dying down into a hush whisper to add effect. When it succeeded, he straightened his back once again and smirked, happy with his explanation. I felt chills crawl in the back of my neck as I thought about it.

"Wow, you must have to choose someone really special then" I replied, looked down in wonder. How can you spend your whole entire life with someone for so long? Seungri nodded gravely before adding quickly, "Don't panic, we only have to worry about it when we are like... 14. So that's plenty of time!" I relaxed at that moment, but with my previous worries still stuck in the back of my mind.

"Where did you learn that word anyway Youngbae?" Seungri inquired now, returning to his seat beside Jiyong who petted his head affectionately. His face turned a plump shade of red and masked on his best poker face, which only made Jiyong laugh harder. Attention turning back to Youngbae, he cleared his throat.

"Well... I overheard at school that one of the girls said they wanted to marry Jiyong." He pointed across from him at Jiyong's flustered face. Not to mention Seungri STILL plastering his poker face that seemed to falter just a bit when the name was brought up. I couldn't help but burst out in giggles, soon followed by Seunghyun and Jiyong alike.

"ohhhh! Jiyong has an admirer!"

"How come I don't have an admirer" Seungri pouted from his spot. Jiyong's laughter subsided as he got the younger boy into a hard head lock. "Aw, don't worry Seungri. I'm your biggest fan! In fact, we should get married!" Jiyong sang out light-heartedly. But Seungri thought otherwise; after wrenching his head far away from Jiyong's armpit, he made gaging noises in a fashion that was just way too exaggerated.

"Ew no! I'm planning to marry a girl in case you've forgotten!"

Jiyong just shot a look of pure mock-horror. "But girls have cooties"

"I kind of want to marry a girl too" Youngbae said sheepishly, hiding the majority of his face behind his braids. Jiyong chose to ignore that comment before continuing, "Come on Seungri, wouldn't I made a good daddy?" He put on his best puppy dog eyes. Pupils glittering into dark orbs of mud.

"No way! And how come you're the dad?"

"I bet my entire supply of chocolate that you and I would get married, and you're going to LIKE IT!"

I couldn't help but left loose a gasp, it spent a whole year of collecting to get Jiyong to where he was today. All those times he displayed every single packaging with care as the 4 of us drooled over what we could never have, he was really putting that on the line. Things just got real.

"Ha! Easiest bet I will ever win. And when I get married,  I'm going to eat every single one right in front of your face!"

They argued some more, but after Seungri said that I kind of zoned him out and found my eyes trailing to Seunghyun. He has been quiet for the whole conversation, poking holes into the ground with his index finger mindlessly. I wonder if he was even listening.

"Hey Seunghyun hyung," I started, cautiously scooting myself closer to him, watching for any sign of discomfort at my actions. There was none. "Who are you going to marry?"

Seunghyun didn't look up, the only sign that he actually heard me was that small moment of hesitation before jabbing yet another hole into the dirt. "I don't know..."

"Me neither..." I replied just as nonchalantly, though a million different curiosities crowded in my brain at his answer. It was so vague, it could be so many different things, I felt like I had to keep guessing.

"Do you think you'd want to marry me?" I croaked out. I wasn't sure why I said that, it just felt like the right thing to say at the time, but now I regretted it when his body tensed up. I needed to apologize, I needed to change the subject.

"Look, forge-"

His head turned slightly in my direction, but just enough for me to catch the faint smile that was meant only for me to see before he stared back to the ground. "Sure, why not."

It was just one sentence, but it made me feel a lot better. Kind of like just coming out of a bad flu.

I directed myself back to the group just to realize that they've stopped talking. The three of them were looking at me funny. "What?" I shrugged, feeling my face slacken from the lack of a smile I had at the moment. Seungri only twitched at me. "Um... you look like you won a year's supply of candy or something..."

I continued my straight face at them, trying to hide my blush from the smoky eyed boy right next to me. "What are you talking about..." Soon enough they gave up, going back into their arguments.

"You're still the girl Seungri."

"Am not!"

here we go again.

******************************************

Eventually we learned the real meaning of marriage. And Seungri was pretty off, but he tried to cover up his blunder with the old: 'I was 4!' technic. Somehow we are exactly the same then and now; Seungri the confident flirt that just wanted to grow up too fast, Daesung the mood maker with a shy heart, Seunghyun the cold stereotype with a hilarious personality, Youngbae the all around good guy who has little to none experience with dating, and me, the 'mom's friend's son'.

A/N: first chapter -.-. The comments and subscribers are really encouraging me to write more. I think I'll start focusing on individuals eventually. Enjoy :).
