Outside the castle

The Lonely Prince and The Thief

Junsu gasped when he felt strong arms wrap around his torso, binding him in a tight embrace as both him and the guard bounded straight for the ground.  Junsu bit his lip a little too hard as a sudden pain shot through his body and both of the two men where tumbling down a small hill and into a bush.

 ‘Oh me!’

Chansung moaned when the two had finally managed to stop thanks to the thick leaved the bush managed to provide, a nice soft cushion for both him and the prince.  Chansung hugged the figure he held in his arms, keeping him tight as he could, not enough to crush him, but enough for him to realize that his struggling was a little pointless.  Chansung grunted when the Prince’s body guards voice could be heard not too far away, he must have still stood in the kitchen door.

 ‘Prince Junsu!’

He shouted, his voice booming, the loud voice sounding a little small when Chansung rolled onto his hands and knees, releasing the prince from his restraints, hovering over the Prince who stared up with a glare.  He really didn’t look to happy with him.  Then again, Chansung did kind of tackle a Prince and probably injured him in the process.  If this mission he was on didn’t get him killed for sure, then if the Prince was to really get away at this very moment, he sure as hell would be dead before he could get even step out of this bush.  Chansung smiled sheepishly, his helmet long gone actually, probably rolled off farther than the bush.  Junsu continued to stare up at him, evil clear in his eyes.  Chansung didn’t like this.

 ‘Prince Junsu!!’

That man’s voice was so ing annoying in Chansung’s ears, he wanted to hit this body guard so hard at the moment, Chansung’s teeth gritted, holding back the urge to get up,  but it seemed the Prince was helping to hold back this urge as well,  his hands shooting up, taking a hold of the metal plate of armor on his chest and pulling him down on top of him, he placed a hand over his mouth and shoved him hard so that he lay on his side now.  Chansung was fairly surprised by the strength he held, not many could throw him off of them, but this man did it like he was a pro.  His hand remained clasped over Chansung’s mouth.  Chansung remained silent as the Prince huddled closer to his body, he felt such a strange heat between them at the moment.

‘If you value your life, I suggest that you remain quiet and let me get away from here.  I order that you sir are to make up and excuse that I somehow got out of your grip and headed for town…’

Junsu instructed, his face inches from Chansung’s, who rose an eyebrow.  This Prince truly was evil in some way.  He just pretty much threatened him.  Chansung opened his mouth, breathing on the other’s hand, an indication that he wanted to talk.  Junsu frowned, but allowed this, his hand pulling away.

 ‘Whisper, Taecyeon is getting closer…’

Junsu spoke, only glancing over his shoulder for a second before turning back to Chansung who was smiling like a complete idiot, a knife in hand, hovering over Junsu’s neck just barely.

‘I’m afraid Prince Junsu, I can’t allow you to escape from my hands…’

He spoke, flexing his hand as the knife pulled back slightly, Junsu stared wide eyes at the man,

‘How dare you insolent peasant guard pull a knife out on your lord!’

Junsu hissed, slowly reaching a hand up,  Chansung grasped the traveling hand by it’s wrist, holding it tight.  Junsu groaned quietly, tilting his head back, the smooth skin looking to perfect to even penetrate with the knife, not that Chansung was going to cut this pretty skin, he wouldn’t dare, JYP would kill him!

‘Well Daegu, I can’t really remove this blade from your neck unless you agree to what I am about to tell you,’

He stated, sliding the blunt end along Junsu’s skin, he felt him shiver next to him.

 ‘W-What?’

Junsu asked, his head shifting back down so that those dark brown eyes, barely noticeably thanks to the dark, but still damn pretty, looked directly at him.  Chansung his bottom lip.  He couldn’t help but lose his train of thought for a moment.

‘Oh, right...  I am not a guard; as you should have known this already.  Not a normal guard would pull a knife on his prince, even if it was to just bring you back to the castle.  I my lord am known as the Master Thief Chansung from the group, or was from the group, One Day.  I am here to kidnap you and take you away from this castle and into the territory known as Busan.  As of now, because that idiot rust bucket is up your pretty much, I can’t let you go, so you will have to come along with me once we escape this bush…’

Chansung instructed, a smile forming on his lips as he waited for the new fear top form in the princes eyes.  You wouldn’t believe how surprised he was when the Prince seemed more curious as to what he had just told him.

‘You, are a thief.  And you are here to kidnap me?  And take me out of this castle?’

Junsu asked, his body relaxing, he didn’t know why he thought this ’Chansung’ was an assassin here to take his life.  Chansung rose an eye brow again, he no longer held that smile that made him look so happy that he was controlling this prince.

 ‘Yes, you heard correct…’

Chansung replied, slowly removing the knife from his neck,  Junsu didn’t seem like he was going to be moving at the moment any ways, he seemed way to happy to be a prince that was about to be kidnapped.  Junsu beamed.

‘On that note then, Sir Chansung!

 ‘Chansung…’

‘Chan-sung, whatever you wish to be called!  I as Prince of Daegu order that you take me out of here and to this Busan place!’

Junsu ordered, Chansung blinking a few times before shaking his head.

‘Did you seriously just order me to kidnap you?’

Chansung asked, Junsu’s fisted hands un-, but again.

‘Yes, is that a problem Chan-Sung?’

Junsu asked, his Daegu accent making Chansung’s name sound quite funny passing his lips.  Chansung couldn’t help but feel amused watching as Junsu’s beaming face turned to frustration when he realized he was laughing at him.

 ‘Don’t laugh…’

Junsu demanded, Chansung turning his head away,

 ‘Don’t say my name funny!’

Chansung demanded, earning a tap on the head, it felt like a feather and it only made Chansung want to burst with laughter even more, but a sudden voice pierced the air and broke the amusing atmosphere.

‘Prince Junsu!  What insolent fool has pulled you into this god forsaken bush and tattered your clothing!  And what the heck kind of ugly cloak is that!’

Taecyeon shouted, the armored body suddenly diving into the bushes, apparently Chansung had gotten a little too loud.  Both he and the Prince literally jumped.

 ‘Rust bucket found us…’

Chansung mumbled into Junsu’s ear as he grasped Junsu’s body and flipped him out of the way just as Taecyeon himself into the bushes.  The man in armor stood up immediately, being denied of helping his prince he seemed more than angry.

 ‘You dare touch the Prince?!’

Taecyeon shouted, protection mode kicking in as his fist clenched and he reached for the sword that lay on his side fully sheathed.  Chansung didn’t seemed fazed though, the threat meaning nothing, using all of his strength, he stood up,  Junsu and all, the Prince pulled directly against his chest, arms in a tight lock.  He smiled,

‘Hold on… You aren’t even a guard here, you filthy peasant!’

Taecyeon shouted, taking no time to draw his sword, Chansung only held Junsu tighter to his chest.

‘Can you not come up with better insults?  The filthy things been used to many times…’

Chansung spoke, a free hand now slipping to the pouch that hung off his waist in the back.  Slowly he began to pull out a dagger, the Prince’s guard snorting with a passion of anger, ready to charge,  Chansung was just as ready just as Taecyeon was moving his body forward,  he seemed to be fast for his size,  but Junsu’s commanding voice stopped him in his tracks.

‘Sir Taecyeon halt your foot work this instant!’

Junsu’s commanded, Chansung’s hand that held the knife relaxing.  Taecyeon’s sword neared the ground as the tall man instantly saluted his prince.  Junsu’s eyes narrowed.

‘You are not to attack this man do you hear me?’

He continued on, earning a very surprised look from his body guard.  Taecyeon’s body seemed so tense;   Chansung was smiling again, he always loved watching the bigger guy’s get pushed around by the weaker ones, Chansung took over Junsu’s words from here,

‘Yeah!  Because this here prince is now Property…’

 ‘I’m not your property…’

‘In possession of the thief master Chansung!’

Chansung barked proudly, holding up his hand to point the knife at himself,  he stood a small step back without Taecyeon so much as even noticing.  He needed to get out of this place soon, and rust bucket was not making it easier.  It was already getting pretty late.  Chansung willingly took another step back, this time Taecyeon did notice and stepped with him.

‘So you are kidnapping the Prince…’

Taecyeon spoke, his voice unusually calm, Chansung had to take another step back, Taecyeon’s evil glare was too scary even for him.

‘Hold up, I have an idea!’

Junsu suddenly interrupted, that heavy accent making the air less tense and both men slumped down.  Junsu did his best to look at Taecyeon, Chansung was holding him much tighter.

‘I want Taecyeon to come with us…’

Junsu spoke, both men looked at him like he was a complete idiot, Junsu frowned.

‘What?!  I can’t allow myself to take part in this petty thief’s kidnapping!’

Taecyeon shouted, his sword being in the ground out of rage.

‘And there is no way in hell I am taking the rust bucket with us!  He’ll ruin the whole thing!’

 ‘It’s an order…’

Both men looked defeated as they slumped, their heads hanging.  They both knew they couldn’t go against the Prince, it was just impossible...

--

 ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this damn babysitting job…’

Chansung spoke, ing two bags into the back of the carriage Wooyoung had pulled up for him,  a horse attached directly to the front with a reign that was held tightly in hand by a driver, and a tightly woven cover stretching over the entire thing to protect them from any dangerous weather they were to encounter.  Chansung grunted as he finally finished packing what was needed for the entire trip, a bead of sweat running down his cheek, wiping it away.

They had really been off time now,  the sun already setting over the horizon, they needed to leave before anyone realized that Junsu was missing, but neither Junsu nor Taecyeon seemed to care about this, both of them, mainly Taecyeon taking his time to make sure everything would be as safe as possible to take the prince along to Busan,  Chansung was stuck packing bags while Taecyeon ran around and Junsu, of course in a new pair of cloths that didn’t look so fancy, just stood at the end of the path way they had come from staring at the castle that cast a pretty shadow over the land of Daegu.  He seemed lost in thought, then again he was running away from a place he had called home since birth.

‘I shouldn’t be a stupid package boy!  I’m a ing thief for god sakes!  I’m going to kill JYP when I see him again.  No if’s or but’s that man is going down!’

Chansung shouted, turning around towards where Junsu stood.   Chansung was about ready to shout something at him, maybe breaking the trance, but he couldn’t help but notice the man’s shoulders shaking quite a bit, Chansung squinted his eyes, making sure he wasn’t seeing things,  the shaking was barely noticeable, but Chansung had good eyes, Rust bucket probably wouldn’t of noticed it, the man didn’t seem to notice along of things actually.

 ‘Junsu…’

Chansung called out, catching the Prince’s attention as he turned around, his eyes gazing right directly at Chansung.  Chansung didn’t understand why this sent chills through his body, but he trembled for the longest moment.  He regained his thoughts the moment Junsu tilted his head.

‘You and Rust bucket ready to go?’

Chansung asked, not a bit of faltering in his voice, Junsu’s eyes went wide, he turned back towards the castle, clenched his fists, and then turned back to Chansung.

‘U-Um yeah… I’m ready to go.  Taecyeon should be too…’

He spoke, stuttered just a tad.  Chansung could tell he was scared, but he smiled.

‘Yo, Junsu relax a little, this is something you wanted!  You get to get out of that stuffy castle and actually live a little!’

Chansung cheered, attempting to make Junsu’s tense form relax a little.  It did, not much, but Junsu was smiling, a toothy smile actually.  This sent a chill through Chansung’s body as well, he quickly turned away.

‘Dear lord, this is going to be a long journey…’

 He mumbled under his breath.

--

It felt like a window had been opened, and that darkness that had surrounded him had somehow turned into light.  That vast sunset that rose over the horizon, casting a shadow of the land of Daegu.  It was terrifying, yet beautiful in Junsu’s eyes as he gazed at it for the last time.   The sun going higher and higher in the sky as the carriage rocked back and forth and brought them farther and farther away from the place he used to call home.

Junsu couldn’t deny he felt way too many emotion’s at once.  Guilt, home sick, happy, sad, disappointed, angry.  Whatever his body felt like feeling, that was exactly what ran through his head, but he managed to push them back as he thought about more of being outside, the nice air blowing across his face, the air that didn’t belong to the castle, and the air his mother thought would pollute him with diseases.  It felt so much nicer than anything he’d felt before.  He liked it a lot.

 ‘Yo June…  You okay?’

‘You petty thief!  Don’t address the Prince with such a common name!  You will address him as his royalty!  Prince Junsu!’

Taecyeon bickered, pushing Chansung aside as he went to move towards Junsu who sat at the very edge of the cart, feet dangling out from the open slot.  The carriage was moving awfully slow so Junsu felt he could do so.  Junsu sighed looking over his shoulder, pushing Taecyeon aside and taking the seat next to him.  Junsu rose an eyebrow as Chansung leaned back,

‘Don’t look so glum and scared…’

Chansung spoke, Junsu knew he was trying to cheer him up.  Junsu smiled.

‘I’m fine, just nervous I guess.  I’ve never been outside of castle grounds so I’m a little worried about what I will see on the outside world I’ve never been too..’

Junsu confessed, his hands reaching up to show a wide space, indicating his outside world.  Chansung chuckled at his impression, leaning forward.

‘Well, you’re taking baby steps, though I’m taking huge ones, you can just take it slow.  Let me do all the work.’

Chansung spoke, hitting his chest and puffing it out.  Junsu chuckled along with him.  Both of them heard Taecyeon gruff in the background; he went ignored,

‘Just enjoy it like a stroll around your garden back home.’

Chansung spoke, this time Junsu’s head hanging.

‘I never got to go to my garden either…’

He mumbled, Chansung frowning.  This boy really had been sheltered.  His elbows resting on his knees, he glanced over at Junsu who was also frowning, the wind barely blowing, but blowing enough to bring strands of hair in his face, Junsu quickly brushed them away.  Chansung decided to change the subject.

‘So!  Because you are a prince and you are entering dark waters…’

‘Waters, is Busan a water city?  I’ve never heard of a city being covered by dark water…’

Chansung smacked his forehead when Junsu placed a hand on his chin to think.

‘No Junsu, dark waters is a phrase meaning you’re going into danger…  But aside from that…’

‘But that doesn’t make sense, dark water?’

‘Just go with it.  Now, what I was saying, because you are a prince, people are going to know who you are if we just go prancing around calling you Junsu, or Prince Junsu, so you need a nickname, something that we can start calling you.’

Chansung spoke, watching Junsu going back into that thinking stage.

‘You know you could be right...’

He spoke, Chansung nodding his head.

‘And another thing.  We have to get rid of that formal talk, and try to help your heavy accent.  You’ll be recognized faster just opening your mouth then us saying Prince Junsu!’

Chansung spoke, just about to say something else when a hand smacked him on the back of his head.  Chansung nearly fell out of the carriage,   he kept his balance, turning to a standing Taecyeon.

‘What the hell is wrong with you Rust Bucket?!  You almost knocked me out of this ing carriage!’

Chansung shouted, instantly jumping to his feet.  Taecyeon was in his face the moment he was too, both glared each other time.

‘You will address Prince as Prince Junsu. Not some idiotic nickname!’

Taecyeon growled, Chansung’s shirt being fisted in his hand.  Chansung was already reaching behind the slightly taller man to bring him down.

‘Taecyeon!  That is enough!  Chansung has a point…  I do need not to go around with you calling me Prince Junsu and this heavy accent could cause a problem for us in getting anywhere..  And my formal way of talking as well...’

Junsu spoke, Taecyeon biting his lower lip, he really must of hated losing, his hand releasing a very happy Chansung, who once released instantly took his seat beside Junsu back.

‘I’m glad you see things my way!  Now let’s think of a good nickname for you!’

Chansung spoke, his mind already going into thinking mode, Taecyeon growled behind him, flopping down back into his spot.  Chansung knew he wasn’t going to agree either way.

‘I liked Jun, but how about like the month June...’

Junsu spoke, remembering that Chansung had called him that not too long ago.  Chansung sat up straight and turned towards him.

‘Hey, I like that too.  Then it is official!  You hear that rust bucket!  It’s June now!  Not Prince Junsu or Junsu.  June!’

Chansung announced, earning an unpleasant grunt and something hitting him on the back of the head…  Again; Chansung chose to ignore that one, turning back to Junsu who seemed more than happy now.

‘Okay, good, now let’s work on your greetings.  You gotta be like a normal guy.  You can’t go around acting like a girl.’

Junsu’s eyes went wide when Chansung had spoken these words.

‘You think I act like a girl?’

He asked, looking offended by the words.  Chansung wanted to smack himself.

‘N-No!  I mean, ah, never mind.  Forget what I just said.  Back to the really subject.  Now I want you to repeat after me.’

Chansung spoke, holding up a hand into the air, his finger pointing to himself.  Junsu nodded, concentrating on Chansung like he would his teachers back at the castle.

 ‘Yo!’

 ‘Yo?’

‘No!  Yo! Say it with some enthusiasm!’

Junsu rose an eye brow, Chansung gestured on.

 ‘Yo!’

 ‘Still to formal...’

‘This is absurd! The prince should not ha…

‘Shut up Rust bucket.  Junsu you have to suppress that accent of yours...’

 ‘Yo!’

Junsu raised a hand in the air as if to wave, it was similar to what he had seen Chansung do when they first got to the carriage and his friends were waiting for him.  Chansung beamed at this.

‘That’s it!  Now add in the ‘what’s up?‘’

Chansung encouraged, watching as Junsu lowered his hands, his bottom lip poking out, pouting.  Chansung couldn’t help but find this too cute; he didn’t like the heat he felt in his face,

‘O-Okay!  Don’t worry!  You have plenty of time till the next town comes up!  We’ll just practice when we can!’

Chansung spoke, hating how this man sitting beside him made him feel so soft.  And another man, like rust bucket,, probably wouldn’t of gotten this treatment.  He usually treated everyone the same.  Like a total joke.  Chansung didn’t understand why Junsu was different.

 ‘That’s a good idea, I am a little tired.’

Junsu spoke, lifting a hand to rub his eyes.  They had been up pretty much the whole night.  Chansung yawned as well.

‘You’re right, I think we all are pretty tired at the moment...’

Chansung spoke rubbing his own eyes in the process of standing.  He made his way to the front of the carriage, the old man that had been designated as their driver paid close attention to the dirt worn path.

‘Yah!  We are going to take a nap, yell if you need anything.’

Chansung spoke, the man nodding his head slowly.

 ‘Good...’

Chansung replied to the nod, turning back to inside the cart, Junsu and Taecyeon already sprawled out.  Taecyeon huddled in the corner, knees brought up to his chest, all his armor removed.  And Junsu, wrapped in a blanket they had brought, sleeping very close to the wall.  Chansung felt a little tired to actually laugh at the scene, both men had such strange sleeping habits, but then again, his probably wasn’t that cool looking either.

 ‘Ahh, so tired.'

He spoke looking around for any other blankets.  They all must have been packed.  Chansung yawned again and shrugged his shoulders, finding a nice place right next to Junsu was out like a light, his face so peaceful, though half hidden by the blanket.  Chansung began to doze and he stared at Junsu’s face for a little longer.  He kind of didn’t look like the type of person to be a prince actually.  Chansung moved a little closer.  He was trying to see it, it never came though.  Junsu looked to normal.  And before Chansung knew it, he had fallen asleep huddled right next to Junsu.
