“It’s Alex’s birthday this Saturday, what should I get her?” I think carefully. “I’ve got her a bag last year but she haven’t used it

till now.” I know that she and I are best friends but we really got this variation when it comes to fashion. She’s more of a laid

back chic style and I’m very girly. Lost in her trance of thoughts her phone rang. “Hello? Who’s this?” “hey! You just got back and

you’re speaking in English to me?”(in korean)  the other line teased. “Oppa! Sure of course. You’re number didn’t register on my

phone. Where you are?” (in korean). “guess where am I princess. “ (in Korean)  older brother asked.

“you’re outside my apartment!” I said with a joking tone. “Yes!” my brother replied. Then in just nano seconds I darted down the

stairs and saw him outside. “Oppa!” “Hi there New Yorker!” Jaejoong Oppa said. “Why are you here? Who are you with?” I am

hoping for someone. “It’s just me. I missed you so much that I flew here to spend time with you.” Jaejoong oppa said. “Liar! Why

are you here, it’s business right?” I said a little sarcastically. “you got me!” jae oppa replied while laughing.

Jonghyun POV

It’s alex’s birthday this Saturday and it’s like 3 days away. I bet she’ll not gonna be fine with the birthday gift tends to give her

this year.

Flashback

“A marriage meeting? Dad are you serious? Alex is just 19!” I utter. Dad walked to sit in his chair at the office after looking at

the window. “Yes Jong. You heard me right.” Dad now sitting and looking at me with his serious face. I know that look. Every time

we talk about business that comes out. “but?” I can’t finish my sentence. I just can’t find the right words. “but she’s just 19? I

know.” Dad looked up resting his back on the chair. I guess this is hard for him too. But why Alex? “it’s for her future. This is what

good parents do in Korea.” “Good Parents?” I thought. “Dad we are in NYC. Were not in Korea!” It just slipped out.  Dad Sigh. “The

business is not doing so good now son.” With that I think I know why alex needs to meet this guy. Because of business.

Sigh. “oppa, you’re still up?” I looked at the door and see my little sister. My baby sister, whose gonna be engage in like 3 days

away. I nod to her. “Uhm, I can’t sleep baby girl.” I said. “baby girl? Where did that came from. Somethings bothering you huh?”

She asked. She knows me too well. Sigh. “nothing piggy princess. You can go to your room now.” I replied. “ayy.. I knew it. It’s too

good to be true. Well I’m off to bed prince dork!” she said and made a salute to me. Before she got out. “Alex!” She turned “huh?

What?” she asked.  “what do you want for your birthday?” I can’t tell her Dad says. “well, I want a new pair of chucks,violet And a

backpack a big one” she smile while saying it. I walk towards her. “aigoo, you should be wearing heels princess.” I ruffled her hair

“tsch. I’m for comfort not style. Bye! I’m gonna sleep! Good night!” she turned and waved. Poor Alex I thought.
